Car Jerks When Changing Gears.
Converge replied to Converge's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Ok, I think there is definitely too much transmission oil, I let the car sit out side for a good 3 hours before, engine was cold to the touch, took the dipstick out and it was nowhere between or on the crosshatching, it goes way past it on the cold side and even the hot side, where the crosshatching is further up.

But would this cause the transmission to slip/make the car jerk? -
Car Jerks When Changing Gears.
Converge replied to Converge's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Hey guys, sorry for the late response, I checked it before, while the engine was running, and warmed up and on a level surface, it seems to be between the highest hump on the stick and the top of the crosshatches, so it's a little over, but I noticed every time I pull it out, there are little bubbles on it? Also what color should it be, it looks darkish. EDIT: Would having too much fluid cause the transmission to slip? I read if there is too much it will cause the fluid to foam up? There aren't many bubbles on the dipstick, like 1-4 little ones, but it could still mean the fluid is foaming up yea? -

Sorry if the pics are too big, these are actual pics of my car, do I have a HICAS? Now it doesn't look like I have one, comparing it to some pics I found on Google images, ahhh I have no idea. EDIT: Ok, I don't think it has one, can someone confirm? -

Converge replied to Converge's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I'll post a pic up tonight after work to confirm, but I'm pretty certain it's there. Seeing as you own a GTS-T would you be able to tell me if the rear coilovers are Fork or Eyelet type mounts? -

Sorry for the triples post... But I want to get this sorted out ASAP, an easier question would be, how do I tell if I have a HICAS? -

Ah no reply from them and woke up too late (They close at 1) But I did manage to find this last night, R34 GT (2 Door) = Eye Eye R34 GT (4 Door) = Eye Eye R34 GT-t (2-Door) = Eye Fork R34 GT-t (4-Door) = Eye Fork R34GTS4 (2 door) = Eye Eye R34GTS4 (4 door) = Eye Eye R34GTR (2 door) = Eye Fork So looks like I need the eyelet type, also read that R33 GTS-T will fit in the 25GT no problems. Also found this, I'm pretty sure my car has the HICAS, but the rear mount is definitely an eyelet.... -

Just sent them an email, will see if they're open tomorrow and give them a call. Ahh, thanks for that, so the second one probably won't fit, that's majorly confusing then, that means that none of the BR series will fit...guess I'll have to wait for a reply from them or give them a call EDIT: Found this, Please specify below whether your application is 4WS hicas equipped with - fork type lower mount rear strut Eyelet type lower mount rear strut If that helps anyone?? -

Converge replied to Converge's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Ok, since the first one is out of stock and I'm pretty sure it's for the 4WD versions, what's confusing me now is the Non- HICAS on the second model. EDIT: Was there even a model without HICAS? -

Hey, Thanks for the kind words , Turns out the link decided not to work, but there are 2 types from the BR series that fit the GT/GT-T BC Racing Coilover Suspension Kit - Nissan Skyline ER34 GT & GT-T (4WS) (Out of stock) BR Type RS Series - 30 Level Damper Adjustable - Free Australia-Wide Delivery! (Fork Type) - Nissan Skyline R34 GT & GT-T (4WS) - Hicas Equipped - Fork Type Rear Lower Suspension Mounting BC Racing Coilover Suspension Kit - Nissan Skyline ER34/ENR34 2WS (Rear Eyelet Type) BR Type RS Series - 30 Level Damper Adjustable - Free Australia-Wide Delivery! - Nissan Skyline R34 GT & GTT (2WS) - Non-Hicas Models - Eyelet Type Rear Lower Suspension Mounting I'm pretty sure mine has the HICAS, does the (4WS) stand for 4 Wheel System, mine isn't the 4WD version, but then the (2WS) says it's for Non-HICAS models. Cheers -

Awesome, perfect, thanks heaps for your help. I'll do some more research before I bite the bullet. Was having a look on Just Jap for the Coilovers and they have a few more choices then expected , What one would I be looking at for the standard 25GT Coupe? http://www.justjap.c...e=search&page=1 -

Awesome, thanks for the help I'll have a look at the XD9's, what are some well known places to get wheels online? I have had a look on JDMConcept and Nengun, I was thinking of buying the wheels from there. These fitments look like a flush fit with the R34, not sure if he had the guards rolled though. Front: 18 x 9.0 +30 / Rear: 18 x 9.0 +30 EDIT: Should I get slightly wider rear wheels? I know it won't matter to my 25GT, but will it offer more traction for later if I decide to upgrade the car or help with resale value? http://www.rimtuck.c...jpg&id=1229&h=3 Would anyone be able to shed some light on what the J's mean on some site, ie, 9J, 9JJ, etc. Thanks -

Ohhhhh, haha, now i feel like an idiot /facepalm. I will get the Coilovers instead then Was looking to spend about 3Kish max on the wheels, with that, would I be able to get the right offsets and widths to make it sit flush the guards on the R34? -

, that saves me a good 3-400 dollars down the road. So the stock springs are upto the job, if I get the car lowered? I just don't understand as the lowered springs are defiantly shorter (Duh) than the stock springs, if I was to lower the car with a Coilover change, wouldn't it mean the is more tension on the longer stock springs, if that made sense? :S -
Hey guys, Have a R34 Coupe here, just wanting to know a few things, I was planning of getting some 18" CR Kai's and lowering the car a bit (not too much as I have a fairly steep driveway), but I am pretty new to the car scene, so am still a total car newb. So I'm not sure what I should be looking for, I have read around the forums and have obtained quite a bit of knowledge, but thought I should just ask. I was thinking of getting these Coilovers and these Springs for lowering the car, I'm not sure if I need the springs, I read if you want to lower your car, either get Coilovers, Coilovers + Springs or don't do it at all? As for the spring rates I was reading this thread and some say 8/6 is a bit harsh for street use, this car will never see the track, it's a daily car and it's an NA anyway , will it be ok? Lastly, I'm still not too sure on wheel size (Width, offsets, etc), I did read this sticky and it has helped a lot, but I'm still not sure about the 8.5, 9J, 9JJ etc, when on the site and actually buying them :S I'm just looking for a set that will sit flush with the guards and doesn't require any or much rolling at all. Thanks in advance

I'm on my L's atm (17) and I got my 25GT Coupe a few weeks ago, I brought it simply because I love the look of them, it doesn't worry me that it's a "slug" or a Magna can beat me lolol, but I'm sure it matters to heaps of people (So yes you are right, but performance didn't even cross my mind), hence why they had to introduce P restrictions, as too many inexperienced idiots wanted a fully sick turbocharged car and killed themselves.

How much did you pay for the pads from Nissan?

Monitors cost about 2.6K alone and another 1.3K for the 2 x 580's, that's pretty much where all the money went too. Already had the 18TB worth of HDD's, have been building it up over the past year.

Hmm, Why not, Case: Lian Li X-900 Motherboard: MSI P67 Big Bang Marshal B3 CPU & CPU Cooler: i5 2500K @ 4Ghz, Cooled with a CM V6GT RAM: 8GB Corsair Dominator GT Monitor: 2 x dell U3011, Mmmm Dual 30" goodness Graphics Card: 2 x Gainward GTX 580 HDD(s): Corsair Force Series 120GB + 18TB on my server OS Used: Windows 7 Ultimate Peripherals: : Logitech G15 & G9x Cost me a good 6ish K, wishing I had saved it up for the car (Didn't have it at the time) I think it's time to sell it off. EDIT: Like k1netic I know a LOT more about PC's then cars, didn't know this place had a PC section lol.

Hey guys, As above, when changing from Drive to Reverse and vice versa, the car jerks, also when driving the car it doesn't change gears smoothly, it does a little jerk. When I went to pickup my spare key from Nissan, I asked the Mechanic and he said the timing belt was probably spinning too fast, but doing some research online, most seem to say it's either the Transmission Fluid or bad gearbox (Which I am dreading). I was just going to wait until the next service, but thought I would ask you guys first. Cheers
