  1. Hi all. I was looking at purchasing an R33 GTS yet I have noticed that the exhaust cam shaft is worn and may require replacing. Is this an expensive/difficult thing to do? Thanks.
  2. Hi all. I'm looking to buy a Nissan Skyline R33 or R34 in Brisbane. Car must be automatic, a coupe and non-turbo. Cheers
  3. Oh I was looking at buying an R34 25GT, I figured it would be cheaper because it didn't have a turbo but I guess not...
  4. RACQ said that they wouldn't let my parents put it in their name purely based on the fact that it's a skyline and a lot of guys my age apparently crash them. I've done a bit of research on it and all I've found is premiums are going to cost me around $3000/year with a $2000 excess. Unless of course I get third party which I don't think is a very good idea. Thanks for the info though.
  5. So I've been looking forward to going out to purchase my first skyline for about the past 2 weeks (after finishing a series of stressful exams at uni and then having to have surgery straight after). I was getting really hyped up about it until I called RACQ to clarify a few things with them. Initially when I called them the first time, they told me that insurance was going to cost me about $1,100/year. However when I called them yesterday they told me insurance would cost me $3000. Well obviously I wasn't too happy about that at all. So before I let my dream slip through my fingers for a few years until I finish uni, I thought that I would come and ask you guys since you have already helped me with so much. So my question is, what would be the best insruance company to go with? I am currently 18 years old and have only recently got my license. And no, I am not the kind of person that is going to thrash the crap out of my car when I get it. I actually plan on joining the police force (ironic I know) so if I get so much as a speeding ticket, that could jeopardise my future career. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou for taking the time to read this and sorry about the rant. Tom
  6. Thanks for the help, I know Gympie isn't that far away it's just that I don't want to waste going up there if it turns out to be a lemon. I'm guessing a non turbo with a gtr badge wouldn't settle too well with the skyline community too =/
  7. I've been in the market for a while now as I didn't want to rush into the whole thing and purchase a lemon by mistake. I've finally come accross a skyline that looks like a pretty good buy to me, but then again I don't know all the ins and outs of skylines like you guys do. Of course I'll get RACQ to come and look at the car if I go to look at it, problem is it's going to cost about $300 to get it checked out and it's all the way up in Gympie (I live in Brisbane). Anyway here's there link: http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/privat...s=&__N=1216 1246 1247 1252 1282 4294963846 4294963593 900 4294933358&SearchAction=N&silo=1011&seot=1&tsrc=allcarhome&__Nne=15&trecs=16&__sid=12C1E55CD053 Thanks
  8. Great to see you finally got your dream, looks awesome . I'll be hopefully be purchasing one within the next few months too. 1000km since service too, great timing
  9. Well when they look at the actual damage they'll clearly see that his story is full of sh*t as if you were both reversing at the same time the damage would have most likely be at the back. Point is you have witnisses, the evidence is in your favour and you have insurance. He's going to have to pay back what ever damage he did and maybe even get in some trouble for lying in the first place .

I have a post on the specifics section yet no one has replied to it as of yet. Basically just as long as their reliable and fuel consumption isn't absolutly terrible I'm happy .

Cheers man . Would you happen to know how the non-turbo ones run? P plater laws just have to ruin everything...

My name is Tom and I'm looking at purchasing my first Skyline. Hopefully an R33 .
  13. I find it funny that he got an additional charge for "doing a burnout" XD
  14. Hey all. I am currently considering purchasing a non-turbo Skyline R33 and this seemed like the ideal place to ask some questions. 1) What is their fuel consumption like? 2) Do they break down often/do they require frequent servicing? Any additional information would be much appreciated. I've always had a love for Skylines so naturally I am looking at buying one. However, I'm still in the planning phase and I'm still deciding if this is the right one to get. Thanks Tom
