  1. Mate....... I was in the thick of it. My mate and I founded the Australian Muscle Car Club of NSW......... We went to every Shannons auction and just couldn't believe what we were seeing. Every record just kept being broken month after month. That's why I look at a good V-Spec for $30K and laugh. I remember a HK 327 Bathurst Monaro which was sold in BUCKETS went for $55K! They eventually peaked at $200K! Bob.
  2. Further to my post above, the same website was buying cars for more money than they sold them for 6 months earlier!
  3. I believe you are 100% correct.......... I lived and breathed through the rise and fall of the Australian Muscle Car boom from 2005-2007 and these cars are no different. Just wait until the Americans start importing these in 2 months time and see what happens to the prices in Japan. It won't take long until some people work out that it will be actually cheaper to buy these cars from Australia than Japan. 14 years ago a car like this one - http://australianmusclecarsales.com.au/muscle/123694-xb-gt-falcon-coupe would be lucky to fetch $15K. At the height of the boom it was around $100K. 18 months ago a good clean tidy Ferrari Dino 246 was worth $150,000.00..... They are now more than double that! R32 GT-R's are great collectibles! Bob.
  4. This is my take on it....... I think what is being said is that the reserve was around 5 mil yen which is about $52,500. It had bids upto our equivilent landed cost of $43K. When you add all the on costs such as shipping and duties and commissions and insurance and GST etc etc, the landed cost would be close to $70K. Bob.
  5. Thornleigh McDonald's is fine by me.......
  6. I'm Castle Hill too so I'm happy to meet up too....... Bob.
  7. Please add me too Terry. Many Thanks, Bob.
  8. I'm waiting to find out the price...... No idea at this stage. The Shabby one is registered until August 2...........
  9. LOL......... It's obviously a daily driver..... 3 years ago I think it had about 170,000 kms. Who knows what it's done now. Must be well over 200K. Bob.
  10. Here is a pic of the upcoming ADM............
  11. Back in early 2011 I found an ADM parked on the side of the road which looked as though it was abandoned. I've been trying to find my post at the time as it proved to be quite a conversation piece but with no avail. If you look at my post #99 here - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/343750-aussie-delivered-r32-gtrs/page-5 The bottom photo is the car in question....... Anyway, I was driving between Thornleigh and Wahroonga when what appears on the side of the road....... Yep same car again. I doubt it's had a wash since because it is undoubtedly the shabbiest ADM I've seen. A real shame but I guess they can't all be glamour’s. A quick U turn and here are the pics........ :yucky: BUT......... On a slightly different note - I've just got the heads up hat a very nice Red Wine ADM R32 is just about to pop up for sale. I'm begging a mate of mine to buy it but unfortunately his "director of domestic affairs" is playing hard ball. Stay tuned and I'll reveal more info as it comes to hand. Bob.
  12. Yeah........ Eventually I got everything I needed but I doubt I would go through it again. Parts are either too expensive or too hard to get or both! Just so time consuming. It would be fun if I'd be retired but I'm not and I have to run my business too. Anyway, I'm on the home stretch now. I'll get the last part of the bodywork done in September or October so she will be perfect for summer. Bob.
  13. Hi Guys, Well....... After a hell of a lot of mucking around, the engine bay is almost back to 100% original. The battery is the wrong one for the car as the positive terminal post should be on the opposite side. The boys at Unigroup did a great job but were niggled with a few leeks that were finally sorted but the end of the night. Here are the before during and completed pics of my engine bay....... Cheers, Bob.
  14. Ok....... Here is a screen print of all recent White V-Spec 1 and 2 auction sale prices. If you have a close look in the pic where the books and paperwork are shown, I think the auction grading was actually a 3.5. Who knows, this car may be on the list! LOL. Regardless, the pricing is around the money but remember, it does not include rego and associated costs. Bob.
  15. Well...... That's our answer well done........ I think. What does the 2 and 4 mean on the top two lines? Thanks, Bob.
  16. Yes it does but for more reasons than just the fact that it's a V-Spec 2. The one thing I have learnt over the last few years is that everybody thinks you can have a great GT-R for under $20K. You can providing you have relatively low standards. My definition of a good car and someone else's is totally different. If I paid $18K for a car (based on what I have seen and believe me I've looked at plenty) I could nearly spend the same again in restoration costs to get it to the level I would be happy with. Everything costs thousands, not hundreds! In most cases they need paint so unless your happy with a patchwork quilt, you would need to spend about $8K for a quality respray. Now bare in mind that I am hopeless on mechanicals so I'm up for $100+ per hour in labour so its easy to understand how the spendometre gets out of hand. On the flip side, if I pay top dollar for a nice clean original car (potentially like this one) I'll be in front with a lot less grief. I bought my V-spec 2 well but will still be $2-$3K over budget. Whilst I can live with that, I actually though I would complete the car $2K under budget so that just typifies how costly it can be to get the end result. With all that said, if hypothetically I spend $28K all up and I'm 85% happy but a couple more grand will finish it off and I'm REALLY happy what do you do? Pay the money and forget about it. That's what. What you don't want to do is pay premium money and still have to spend bucket loads on it. You'll be behind the eight ball for ever then. IMHO......A V-Spec 2 is worth about $3K more in value than the equivalent non-V-Spec car. Factor that in plus the fact that the dealer will have some wriggle room and all of a sudden the deal starts looking pretty good. If you could buy the car for around $26,000, allow about $2-$3K for general tidy ups and a service and for under $30 you would have a great car. I've been watching the Japanese auctions for the last 5 months and a grade 4 V-Spec 2 with that mileage + books will sell in Japan for the equivalent of $30K+ all day long. Imagine what a grade 5 will cost you! If your happy with white (I love white but had to have silver) and the car checks out OK then buy it! These cars don't come up that often (they only built 1303 VS2's out of nearly 44,000 R32 GT-R's) especially at that price point. Had I of not bought my car back in February, and had this car been silver, I would have been on a flight down last Friday and probably had in my garage by now as this is the only V-Spec or V-Spec 2 that has been on the market that appears comparable to what my end result will be! Good luck and keep us all up to date. Bob.
  17. Hmmm...... Good point....... My parts guy knows I have 2 cars but may well of quoted based on the ADM. Maybe the later cars got this upgrade too? I'll know more tomorrow after they hopefully fit what I will give them. I'll let you know. Bob.
  18. I'm keen too......... Pending dates. Bob.
  19. The 85W bulbs are std....... I had it checked out with Nissan yesterday. I bought some "you-beaut" Phillips globes as the cars going back to Unigroup on Monday and I figured they can throw them in for me but.............. In the box of goodies I got from the previous owner there is a pair of H11 globes and a pair of HB3's.......... I'm hoping that it's just a coincidence (and error) that he gave them to me as I can't see anywhere our cars taking these globes. A post "91 car should be H1's and H3's and these are for my V-Spec 2. This is what I bought, I couldn't get The H1's in 85W bar Nissan and I wasn't going to pay $77.00 for a pair! I could get 100W but it's risky putting more load on the wiring. I got these 55W but with extra 60% coverage according to the box! How often do I use high beam....... Not often. Hopefully they all fit. Bob.
  20. Hey guys...... I just notice this just got listed. Looks like a beauty...........Note the asking price difference. http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/dealer/details.aspx?R=AGC-AD-15966156&Cr=5 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/271508784884?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Bob.
  21. I'm happy to give you $250 for the drivers side if that works?
