  1. I don't know as I wasn't at the auction. That part is misleading anyway as the auctioneers run phantom bids up near the reserve hoping someone will bid to cover the reserve price. If a car has a reserve of $40K, they will run the bidding up to mid-high $30's and hope it crosses the line or at least get close enough to submit the bid and negotiate after the auction. I have bought and sold cars at Shannons auctions so I understand their strategy. You can't read it now but I remember looking at the inspection report on this car and it did have leaking turbos and quite a few other necessary repairs. Not withstanding all of that, it looks a lovely car. Throw a few grand at it and enjoy owning a rare classic! Bob.
  2. This one was passed in at the last Melbourne auction hence why it's in there under the Park and Sell option..... Bob.
  3. Yes, sure.... I accept all of that but I'll guarantee you this.......... If his father booked me I and I knew his son drove a prohibited vehicle and he turned a blind eye to that, I could make his life very uncomfortable. It is absolutely rediculous he would allow himself to be put in that position.
  4. Firstly..........How on earth does your father, a policeman allow you to drive a prohibited vehicle? Secondly, do you have any idea what risk you put your father at by openly thumbing your nose at the law? The next time he books, let alone arrests an offender he leaves himself wide open to condemnation or worse still double standards. I'm sure his superiors would not be impressed........ It is an offence not to report or deal with an offence especially if you are a police officer.
  5. I know this has absolutely nothing to do with our cars but I wanted to share this. In particular, read the "Lets Compare Spec's" but read the listing first........ Bob. http://cgi.ebay.com/...#ht_4311wt_1165
  6. I can't make the cruise but I intend taking my M3 to the meeting point for a spin.......... Bob.
  7. Yes I have many times. My mates (pic attached) has only done 45,000 kms and goes very well. The earlier ones are a bit sluggish but don't sell the 3.2L too short, it is a quick car. That said I do agree with everything else you have typed. The old Kingswoods are diabolical......... Bob.
  8. Interesting about the R32 Golf...... All Porsche 911's BEFORE 1994 are OK too........ To put things into perspective. A "P" plater can drive a 1989 3.2L Porsche Carrera but can't drive a 1971 HQ Kingswood 4.2L V8 Column 3 Speed Automatic. Go figure. Bob.
  9. Well...... I've opened a can of worms here. Robust conversations are all well and good but I think we do need to put things into perspective. As I asked in on of my earlier post...... What about the parents? I would NEVER dream of allowing my kids to drive a restricted car purely because of the potential consequences. I find it hard to believe that a cop will let anyone off because if that "P" plater raps him or herself around a pole and it's proven that a cop didn't do anything then they are in HUGE trouble. Bob.
  10. Thanks for that...... I'm amazed at the volume and more so that the parents don't give a toss either. The consequences could be horrendous ............... Bob.
  11. Hi Guys, As someone who does a lot of driving I am constantly amazed at the amount of "P" platers that I see driving Skylines, Evos, WRX's and V8 Commodore and Falcons. My son is off his greens but my twin girls have 2 years to go so I was wondering are these guys taking risks or are they able to get exceptions that easy. Each day I would see 3-4. I'm interested to find out how many "P" platers here drive such cars. Thanks, Bob.
  12. I guess we can conclude from the spare parts listings the changes the ADM cars got, but I would ask them if they have a comprehensive list of ADM modification to comply with ADR's...... I would also ask them if they have records confirming that all 100 cars were the same or were some factory optioned with sunroofs etc. Do they have any point of sale from that period that we could get/buy? Other than that, I think you have it covered. My only last comment is make sure you note down EXACTLY who you spoke to and their contact details. Finding these guys is rather difficult at times months down the track..... Good luck. Bob.
  13. Maybe to many meat pies? LOL....... Bob.
  14. LOL! But you are correct. ADM cars got the mats as std........... Bob.
  15. Another external feature of the ADM cars is the high mount stop light resting on the rear screen and front number plate bracket. We also got flat glass on our side mirrors. Not that you can tell but the rear muffler is also different... (for the few that still have the original exhaust). One other thing that has bugged me for a while............I don't want to burst anyones bubble here but one wives tale that's been getting some air time is the seats. A few claim that the ADM cars got wider seats for our fat @rses...... That is simply not true. They are identical to the JDM cars. Internally, we got the 260kph speedo, upgraded premium stereo system, dashboard dimmer switch, reinforcer on glove box door and cloth headliner. We also got different sun visors and different rear parcel shelf, equipped to take child anchorage bolts etc. There you go.... A bit more useless trivia for you. Bob.
  16. This car has been for sale for quite a while. I first made contact with the owner back in February. He promised to send me photos....... never did. He promised to ring me back.......never did. Once I asked whether it had matching numbers he seemed to lose interest. I can only presume it's either got a non-original engine, useless to the collector. Or it was effected by the Queensland floods as the communication ceased at about that point. If you threw $15K at it you may end up with something reasonable but considering it's been on and off for sale for about 8 months I think it's been tarnished. Good luck to anyone who buys it though, it may be a legitimate bargain but I doubt it. Bob.
  17. Guys........The original booking should always have been subject to the completion of the "schedule of works". Failure to advise that this was a possibility is what my rant is about. Sydney has had record rainfall for over 12 months so they should have advised of this risk accordingly. As I said initially, it's not a big deal for me but when you are catering for 200+ people with all the efforts that have been put in I really think it's pi$$ week. Anyway, I've had my say so I'll shut up now. Bob.
  18. That's the part I find inexcusable.............. Bob.
  19. I'm sorry but that is a disgrace........ If I did that to my customers I'd be out on my @rse so fast my feet wouldn't hit the ground. It's no big deal to me as I was only down as a spectator but I feel for the organisers and the guys that made arrangements to race on the day. 3 and a half days notice of cancellation on an event that was booked 7 weeks ago is utter contempt or incompetence or both. Quite frankly I would write a letter of complaint to their governing body, presumably the state government. The person in charge may at best get a rocket up his ........ Sorry for the rant but as someone who has run a Car Club and organised events for a number of years I find this totally unacceptable. Bob.
  20. Is there an updated list of entrants and spectators? Thanks, Bob.
  21. Well done Marko that takes a fair bit of time sorting out. We have a great starting point now so lets see how many we can add over time........ Cheers, Bob.
  22. He does but is on the verge of retiring. If you are going to contact him then make it sooner rather than later.............. Eagle & Raymond Automotive Unit 1, 14 Brennan Cl, Asquith, NSW 2077 PH: (02) 94771500
  23. OK......... I spoke to Ron Eagle today, (Eagle and Raymond Automotive) who is KB's mechanic and he confirmed that Kerry Packer had 3 x R32's and one R34 (Black) which he didn't like and got rid of it within a month! The 3rd Packer car was Silver. He gave this car to the helicopter pilot who saved his life when he had the heart attack. Apparently the car is heavily modified and now lives up around the Coffs Harbour region. There's another one for the list! LOL. Bob.
  24. Hi Guys, I have just found out that there was a Bonhams Auction yesterday and the attached car was up for auction........ I consider myself as someone "in the loop" yet had no idea this auction was coming up until this morning. It's the Shannons Motorex car from last year. Unfortunately, it didn't sell. The car has been offered around over the 3-4 months without any joy. I have seen the car in person so if anyone is interested, drop me a line. http://www.bonhams.com/aus/auction/19372/lot/304/ Cheers, Bob.
  25. Hi Marko, Both Packers cars were Red Pearl and so is the ex-Skaife's car........ I'm starting to question the colour splits we have all believed to be true. Cheers, Bob.
