time for me to stop lending a car and start buying one i've thought about my needs/wants in a car and in light of the recent fuel costs i'm going for something small, 4cyc. i hate bubble style cars (121's, Echo's etc) i want something small with a longer front and rear. i'd like something 2 door as well because i like the feel of driving one and i wont be driving anyone else around but myself. cost is a pretty big factor and i want something that holds value pretty well (all things considering) auto too as i will be in traffic jams etc and i only have an auto licence atm. i was originally thinking a honda prelude (late 80's-early 90's) but hondas go bang after 220,00km and are really expensive for parts/fixing. great car when working though. i'm now thinking a mk5 toyota celica (90-93) being pretty much a 2 door camary must make getting parts easy (same engines as the apollo as well?) and there would be a wide range of people to service them. has anyone here had experience owning a toyota celica of that age? how was it? any advice when looking for one? any suggetions for a similar car?

volvo engine bays are big. dropping a 5.0L GM V8 is a common one to do as well, there's a few of those getting about in Aus, infact i remember one going up for sale on SAU a few months back! go for it!!

bank loan, how hard is it to get approved ?
The_Paladin replied to skylinedrifter's topic in General Automotive Discussion
and so we return to this post hey? 37k for a 19yo's car?? fark. i dont even know where to start. if you succeed you'll be the banks bitch for a veeeeeeeery long time. i'd take a long hard look at what you are doing. for a 19yo not to be satisfied with a supra something is very wrong! -
Are Xr6 Turbo Drivers The New Commodore Driver?
The_Paladin replied to morgsj50's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i think a lot of import drivers feel threatened by domestically sold turbo 6's. 4wd drivers are the worst on the road. i dont give a toss what anyone says, the sterotypes are true. i sat dead on the speed limit on the way home from work today, watching them (4wds) shoot past me at 10-20km above the limit....... on the road, insecurity leads to speeding. people who know they can go fast rarely feel a need to prove it. -

What Is The Deal With Commodore Drivers?
The_Paladin replied to rb20inside's topic in General Automotive Discussion
this is a great post it's interesting that the post starts out as a commodore/falcon wanker thread and ends up a commodore wanker thread. i personally havent met many ford fans who have delusions about ford actually having good performance cars (even though they do, just in the states) compaired to holden fans who think they're top shit. great cars for basic, cheap transport but not for much else. people need to see commodores for what they are, cheap family transport. nothing else. HRT exempt, but the similarities between them and stock cars is just not there. i think a few people posting on here have hit the nail on the head when they say the problem is, is that commodore drivers think they're in a HRT V8 when they're in a V6 exc -
your instructor wants you to go slow around corners so you dont crash. going fast around corners = pain that's not cool, you'll stuff the gearbox doing that. it's undue stress. those auto gearboxes are designed to be driven in Drive gear. 1 and 2 (or more if you're lucky) are mainly for hills. do you see a clutch on that thing?? just a heads up

Took Some Spyshots Of A New Car!
The_Paladin replied to Busky2k's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i thought the newslink said it was going to be an 8...... something that size needs a bigger engine. volvo only uses the 5's in the mid/smaller classes of cars. i'm pretty sure the last s80 was a twin turbo 6. -

150k for a CM manager??? nooooooooooooooooooooo way. maybe the area manager for the state but even then i'd be doubtful. 50-70k is more realistic. If you like dealing with people get into retail because it can branch off into a lot of different areas. you can become a CSO further down the track or move onto more sales orintated positions (which is what i'm doing) the social life is great. another word of warning. Coles Myer dosent hire people full time (sales assistants) on policy. because you have to give them rights. so you might need 2 jobs.........but that's where telesales comes in! i managed to work at Grace Bros and a telesales job and it was a good life.

REdgtst that has to be the appaling post i've ever seen on SAU in the 2 and a bit years i've been on here. vote for ban. i'm being serious too. that shit you wrote brings the whole car enthusast scene down a level and justifies police targeting young males.
