100% noob and dont know where to start.

learn to drive first and then go out an aquire a tase..............dont commit to something unless you've tried it. you might find a GTR is not your style of driving and you'd be better with a RWD. drive as many different cars as you can........but remember, GTR's and teenagers dont mix! -
Women, 4WDs and carparks....... a recipe for disaster!

these cars arnt as popular cause the drivers arse is too close to the ground...........it's still an arrogance thing. i dont think any manufacturers could make a good substitute unless it had the same ride hight with would defeat the point of it......... only the government can crack down on this. -

it's not a minority........it's a lot more than that. and the problem isnt that most people think most 4WD owners are ignorant and selfish. the problem is that most people DONT think 4WD owners are these things............ the people that take them offroad are the minority. anyone who owns a 4WD for reasons other than using it for its intended puropse is selfish because they are sacrificing other peoples safty for their own means. -

i think a lot of it is intimidation................they know people will get out of the way of a huge 4X4 with a bullbar than a smaller car....... they are designing bull bars to be less dangerous.......but it still misses the point entirely of people not needing them................even the 'safer' ones in design are more dangerous than no bull bar at all.... -
see................even God dosent like 4WD's (couldnt resist.......)

It's a populat theroy that men have better sparital awerness skills then women. part of the reason they're more interested in sport/cars/tech etc. but where women lack skill, they make up for it in maturity...........guys are more likely to be involved in a car accident so it's a tough call to say that women are just shite in cars....... i thought this topic moved past women and more onto 4WD needs and ownership. i do think that women are more likely to buy a 4WD for image etc then a guy. and in general are more likely to be ignorant of the saftey facts surrounding them. prehaps 4WD's should come with a general health warning like cigs? -

oh bugger off, this is a good topic. it's very releviant......... good points again silversr33. it would take a court (sue) case for something to happen. as we all know by import victimisation and the aboloshment of the 15yo rule the government is very pro-local manufactures and i dont reckon they'd have the balls to stick up to them. there's no financial gain to be made..........it could only take a militant public to change that. -

i've said this before, but i think all it needs is a highly publicised case where someone sues and win's because of damage caused by a 4WD............if they went after the manufactures then all the better, Nissan, Toyota, Range Rover etc need the fear of God put into them. if a company made a car where, say, the seat belts failed the person could sue the company etc..............there needs to be something like that. though that would only enfore the American 'sue em' culture in Australia........... the future of this topic will be very interesting......... -

when i the joker commented on the enviroment i also ment asides from fuel comsumption (which is a problem with them) people ripping up the beaches/offroad with them. there have been reports saying that they're damaging the ecosystem of these places people use them............ -

even if you take a 4WD to the beach and use it in the correct conditions, that's still no excuse for the government to let them on the roads............ Why cant i drive (if i owned one) and non-streetlegal car to the racetrack for my hobby?? because they're carelessly dangerous. SO ARE 4WD'S. who cares if it's your hobby? it harms the enviroment anyway!! they should get them transported like the rest of the car enthusiasts. small 4WD's are a bit of a oddity, i mainly refer to the single mum tanks. -
one of my mates who had an R32 for about a year never had any problem from the cops at all.........random pull overs, defects (the car was stock). couple of speeding tickets that's it........ i know from my own experience that you dont need to be doing something wrong to get pulled over. but i'm starting to see straight through a lot of comments that people post saying that the cops target the youth and they've been pulled over umpteen times and they drive like a granny in their skyline.............there are exceptions, but not on a whole.

The_Paladin replied to jlnewton's topic in Queensland
even though a good driver getting behind the wheel of a 4WD doesnt make them a crap driver, and a good driver behind a 4WD is less dangerous than a dodgy one behind a small car........it's still also the car/tank that's the problem as well.................they're too hard to see past. Yeah buses are as well, but they're not as many of those about and there's a point to them. the original 4WD's were designed to be offroad, that they do well. they're not suited for the road and shouldnt be on them. what excuse does someone have to drive them? so what if they like them, i like NOS........dosent give me the right to drive around with it. -

yeah, it is the driver. but there is a disproportiantly large amount of tools in 4WD's........ i'd rather be hit by anything than a 4WD with a bullbar............ -
i reckon the oath is a good idea......... i also reckon that the fines incured on 'hooning' should go to funding speedway facilites..........that would hopefully prevent these things...........though that would be in an ideal world. any draft ideas for the oath? i'll start with the first rule......... Rule one: No Poofters.

dammit if someone's reviving threads then why not the one of mines stacking his R33?

great points again silversR33..........if you run for parliment, you've got my vote.... 20 mins ago, walking to this net cafe. a woman driving a Range Rover stops dead in the middle of a crossing (it's peak hour here too, HEAPS of people around) because she tried to slip through the lights and didnt make it. i dont care if it's sexist. IT'S TRUE. WOMEN SHOULD BE BANNED FROM USING 4WD............the men arn't much better........ -
it would be a long time before they could bring in a power restriction in qld. most if not all people on their p's now would be clear.......... something like that takes ages. lots of debate, time for reponce etc.
