Pulsing Exhaust Sound At Cruise Speed - Help!
hardsteppa replied to ausdrift's topic in General Maintenance
Weld plate over exhaust outlet, see if that fixes issue. -
That's the point though, you're only seeing one part, the worst, of the overall picture. So while yes, it can lead to some very bad situations for individuals, and control is needed, your view isn't a balanced one because it appears to be based on the worst case scenario and not the overall big picture.

The implications of all you idiots that drive an illegal industry that is responsible for most of the crime and human injustices in the world nope, that's religion. nope, that's you, and it's just a shame you can't see it. You're a bit on the angry side too bro.

Air Conditioner Making A Soft 'choo' Noise, Power Affected
hardsteppa replied to tridentt150v's topic in General Maintenance
sounds perfectly normal to me? Aircon compressor kicking in/shutting off causes power change, more noticeable depending how shite it is (used to be like putting on the handbrake in my old celica) and the system gives a little pssh as pressure activated/released. Also if you happen to be driving in the tropics and going 100k and the aircon is on and you start to see steam/smoke coming out thru the aircon vents it does not mean your car is on fire, just water vapour apparently from the change in humidity coming through the system too fast for it to disburse normally...or something similar, forget the exact reason....(but caused me some brief concern when driving back from Cairns, I tells you) -
well, the situation of the teenager who died in Adelaide on the weekend is an example of why there's no point continuing with the Govment approach of tackling the issue with 'drugs are bad, don't touch them'. Cos while young mate died, thousands of others had a fkn awesome time there on drugs, so the danger threat is not relatable until it is directly applying to them. The angle of 'don't be afraid to go to authorities if you or mates are in trouble, no criminal action will be taken against you' is a much better direction to take. Although, if I was a youngsta again i'd be sceptical of that offer myself and maybe wouldn't go to them even if in trouble.

R33, New Brake Upgrade Idea
hardsteppa replied to hardsteppa's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i will also add, hey, if you don't think there's any need to upgrade stock braking performance then no worries, just don't do it. No need for any drama or argument. I've been happy with the results of upgrades (namely increasing rotor size) on various cars and so consider it worthwhile and recommended, these days as i get older i consider it even more important than chasing higher power figures, but each to their own. -
R33, New Brake Upgrade Idea
hardsteppa replied to hardsteppa's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
you say you're getting it, but you're not. I'll try putting it a couple of other ways - ask anyone who's done one of the common brake upgrades for the R33 if they regret it, and want to go back to just having stock brakes. Also - swap 'brakes' for 'power increase'. If I push the car to the limit of it's power in stock form it is reasonably capable, but I don't want to be driving around pushing it to its' limit. I'd rather enhance its' power capabilities and get much more enjoyable driving performance at moderate acceleration, and know that its' overall capability is increased, should it ever be needed. -

R33, New Brake Upgrade Idea
hardsteppa replied to hardsteppa's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yeah but Johnny, and there's no disrespect intended in this; if you've only used stock brakes with good pads you can't really say if it's worth having upgraded rotor sizes, as you haven't experienced the difference. On my other car I went from completely stock brakes to a big rotor/wildwood caliper setup and it completely changed the car. Brake kits have come down in price heaps since then, it was a long time ago, but even then, it was money well spent and much nicer to drive, and that was 100% street use. My r33 runs the GTR 324mm disc on the front and hfm disc upgrade on the back, and also a decent improvement IMO opinion. While stock brakes might be good when pushed to their limit, I don't want to be pushing them to the limit, i'd rather have better braking and control through a more efficient brake setup. -
New Member Needs Help

You wanna buy some stock springs? Step this way my friend. But i'm guessing then when you say it has stock suspension, it actually doesn't, if not stock springs? -
R33, New Brake Upgrade Idea
hardsteppa replied to hardsteppa's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Sure, but i'd also say, your car will also run just fine unmodified, but obviously thats not to say it's giving anywhere near the potential and performance it could. Upgrading braking performance is well worthwhile, even tho stock brakes are 'adequate/good'...like everything, they can be better, and create a more enjoyable drive. -
that does sound a little 'why' asking, for sure, that's a shiteload of coin to spend doing the opposite to what most ppl would. But, awesome place there mate, was there last year and would be great to spend some more time in. How big's your place lol, need a live-in mechanic for a while...?

qld Grand Sale, Grand Sale, Megalo R33
hardsteppa replied to hardsteppa's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
a-pillar braces, recirc adapter and castwizzle-brace sold. Also found in my garage - 1x set of subframe aluminium lock collars, black. Look just like the million other pics of subframe collars, except one of the upper collars has a slightly ground-away section where I was trying to make it seat in better against the OEM rubber before I realised it would make no difference so gave up, so is only done to one of the pieces. $30 plus $5 postage, happy to post up a pic if anyone keen. - R200 ABS diff off r33 gtst, 4.1 gears. Long-nose? has abs sensor at front near tailshaft. $100 pickup or deliver in Brisbane, too heavy to post. -
Two Different Suspension Types?
hardsteppa replied to Hoangheo's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Finally, someone's asking about suspension for skylines, about bloody time. Sport, there's so many threads on here about it, its not funny- hence why i'm not laughing- including a huge one about BC's. -
people give the R33 gtst sh&t saying it handles like a boat; I disagree. It handles great, just not in stock form. Then again, a lot of cars don't. Some stuff I've got for sale, for an R33 but I believe most/all will fit r34 - pls check for yourself though to confirm. All available for pickup/delivery in Brisbane, or postage as listed. R33 a-pillar braces. Handmade in my workshop so don't expect production-line welds and finish; they are neat enough, fairly light and strong as sh&t though, and if you don't notice the front end feeling a lot more solid on the road over 100kph I'll be very surprised, I found a huge difference once fitted. $100 the pair, $15 posted anywhere in Oz. TEIN medium S-Tech springs. These drop the car by about 30mm, and are around a 4.2kg spring rate? from memory anyway, exact rates on the Tein JP website. Ok, these are as close to brand new as you can get; bought them when I thought my bc coilovers were on the way out. Bought these tein springs and put them and a set of shocks in, and found the issue was the same and nothing wrong with the bc's (product plug for bc's, good item) and so these springs came straight back out, and have sat in the garage for the last 18 months being kept for when I might need them again. BC's still going strong, so if you want a set of top-quality springs new without the new pricetag, here they are, still in original Tein box. Link to counterfeit Tein spring id'ing, these are genuine not copies. https://thecounterfeitreport.com/product/336/Tein-S.-Tech-Springs.html here's the cheapest price I could find http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TEIN-S-Tech-Springs-medium-Nissan-skyline-Ecr33-Gtst-/151723212392?hash=item2353687e68:m:m8tmNJcZc0sCVq7xzJTFytA so, I'll do $350 for the set of 4, and $20 posted anywhere in Oz except NT and WA. Cusco castor-rod brace. Genuine item not a copy, in excellent condition, just has usual scuffs/marks from being fitted to car. This is cheapest price I could see http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CUSCO-TENSION-ROD-BAR-BRACE-SKYLINE-R33-ECR33-R34-ER34-GTST-RB25DET-RB25DE-RB25-/141646100094?hash=item20fac3f67e:m:mBRbPtLm42OS3HSHxWzM4Sg so, $90, plus $12 posted anywhere in Oz except NT and WA. also genuine HKS SSQV recirc adapter, 29mm hose size. Brand new, still in box as per pic. I found the 25mm adapter fitted to the other end of the hose so didn't end up using this 29mm one. $15, plus $7 posted anywhere in Oz. also 2x stock R33 wastegate actuators, just have mounting holes elongated to work with Hypergear hiflow turbos, will still work just fine with stock turbos. $15 each. Gizzmo IBC-R electronic boost controller, options of 6 boost presets, and rpm setting. Guaranteed in good working order with user manual, just that the wires have pulled out of the back of the plug that plugs into control unit. Either track down some square-end wiring plugs or just call Ray at gizmo and buy another plug kit, and you got yourself an electronic boost controller cheap. $100, plus $10 posted anywhere in Oz. And I do mean guaranteed working, I wouldn't sell it if it was no longer working. other stuff - set of 6 stock R33 injectors, $40. - 2x R33 series 2 engine mounts, rubber solid as, no cracks/splits, $25. Sriously in good cond and perfectly usable, I just put Nismo mounts in trying to eliminate drivetrain 'slush' as I have auto trans. - series 2 CAS. Working fine, I replaced CAS when troubleshooting idle issue which turned out to be afm. You're welcome to test before buying if in Brisbane. $80. By all means reply to thread but also PM me pls so I can get back to you sharpish. Any q's on anything just let me know.

i'll take that as a maybe... -
it's ceramic, it won't burn. Nothing good will come of having it in the cylinder. But, any household vacuum cleaner should be strong enough to pull bits out if you put it hard up against the open spark plug hole.

oh wait you already answered it. Well yes...I agree.
