  1. Yeah I heard Brendo's in the Ssssscrotor, I'm watching with interest to see how the lad goes. Anyone know what the weather is gonna do the Wrest Point? Got any hot predictions? There's a few new cars debuting I think? I'm keen to see how Edie goes in the Emo in EM, he's got Wilfred sitting beside him. And Nick, I'm not going mate, but SURELY someone from here is?! What's Snowballs doing, is he scared of that R35 or something?
  2. Should be a good thing though Timmy. A 2WD Showroom contender for sure.
  3. I'll agree the Ferodo's can give off some shake when really punished. I've managed to skim the same rotors 3 times VERY lightly. They're not warped, they had some of what could only be described as pad buildup on them. I've not had to change the rotors and they're still of "legal" width. I've heard so many good things about Project MU's though, that I'm keen to give them a try next time.
  4. I've not measured temps, but my rotors have the heat paint and they're peak has been spot on in the middle of the orange area. I warm my brakes prior to stages if we're not expecting a big delay. The heat produced also warms the front tyres and brings them up to pressure. Blaise, your wet findings are not something I've noted for myself, but I'm keen to take particualr notice next time I run the car in the wet, if I ever get the bloody thing going again! haha
  5. Sorry, I was referring more to those user-chooser business types. The FBT I pay by choosing a 4WD wagon is unfortunately several thousands of dollars per year, but, it's a price I've so far been happy to pay rather than be forced to drive a ute of sorts.
  6. Fatz is right, the most annoying thing for me is having to fill up too often when touring. A smallish tank, coupled with a pessemistic distance to empty trip computer, sees me pulling over every few hundred kays. And I'm wuith Brighty, that no, 10% extra doesn't worry me. What price do you put on having something that's actually nice to sit for hours on end, nice to drive, and a great performing and pleasurable daily? 10% of the fuel cost for an occasional interstate towing trip? Yep, for sure! TBH, a MUCH bigger issue is fringe benefits tax if using a non commercial vehicle.
  7. An R50, in the Simpson, over dunes?! I thought I had big balls taking mine to Fraser Island solo on 22's.... he trumps me! haha And yeah, the new model Toureg was realeased without a low range transfer case which was a majot step backwards, but they now offer it as an option. It's a must have IMO, even if you only plan light off-roading such as a bit of beach work.
  8. ^^^ Helluva thing. Couple of the boys here have them. I've towed Berry's cars with his V6 diesel Toureg, and it was impressive. I imagine the V10 only more so. Out of warranty would worry me though, especially given the brand new Toureg's exceptional value for money. If it were my money, as much as I LOVE the R50, I think I'd buy a brand new loaded (with low range transfer case now available) V6 diesel Toureg.
  9. It's funny, I use the DS3000 (fr) and DS2500 (rr) on my little 32 GTS-t, and they've been VERY kind to rotors (one set still AOK after 3 years) and very ecenomical. . . . . I rotate two sets and am not even half way through each. Maybe my low powered R32 just doesn't work them hard? Or maybe I need to brake more?
  10. haha, I must be a wheel holder. I don't understand why people take criticism of their chosen vehicle so personally, maybe you should "man up buddy". I've had my fair share of "man's" vehicles,.... one was a lifted 'Cruiser ute on 33" muds and twin lockers, it drove like shit. It actually drove a bit more shit that the bog-stock 1998 GU wagon I owned briefly. Yes, they're completely drivable. No, they are not a paragon of refinement or driving joy. If I were to be towing a large trailer over the Canning Stock Route, or off-raoding and needed maximum wheel articulation, I'd likely chose a Patrol. That does not, however, make them "the" default choice for those who want for a good daily driver that can also tow their race car interstate comfortably time to time.
  11. Truthfully though, with all due respect, and I mean this is the nicest possible way...... Patrols drive terribly, they really do. There's only so much a brother can do with a live front axle.
  12. That's amazing economy for a vehicle that is also "fun" to drive! Very impressed I am.
  13. It'll tow fine. It is, after all, simply a Toureg that has mated with a Sperm Whale. I think you just like saying Q7. I also think you might be drinking again
  14. Do you know you can't just vote in the top poll? The forum requires us to vote in both
  15. I'm not trying to shoot the guy down, he's obviously keen. But, I've been flabbergasted all weekend after first reading this, and thought he actually was trying to take the piss but was kind of failing. Them I saw he was actually pretty serious, and was going to end up wrecking what looks to be a fairly neat 33. Like I and you have said, and with all due respect to the OP, I think it wise to just move away before it ends in tears.
  16. I think you're actually serious? I was beginning to think that maybe you were just taking the piss but you really are serious! lmfao! Having said that, someone needs to pull you up. I for one don't want you to see you ruin your car. Completely PHUCKING your car by winding out the strut braces is solid gold. You do realise adjusting nuts aren't there to spread your car apart like a pair of forcips opening up a chest for open heart surgery, they're there simply to allow slight adjustments in the length of the bar to fit the particular car, as not all cars are made identically. Seriously, everybody needs to start somewhere, but I think you'd serve yourself much better if you back away from your R33, turn, and walk away, before you do some serious damage to it, or God forbid, other road users. Maybe go and buy a Tonka toy or some Lego?
  17. Great. I look forward to it with much anticipation!
  18. WTF are you for real!?!?!?!?!
  19. Skipper's ticket?
  20. Is this for Targa or circuit predominantly?
  21. Sorry. Fell asleep. Line 2, word 1, "decent". My bad. Build it and I will believe. Until then. LIES! lol hehe
  22. ^ This But like I say, if you've an excess of cash....... The entry list will always be packed, despite the dubious value or GFC. And aint that cool!?!
