On saturday night, I left my baby at a friends house, cnr corrimal and market st, in wollongong. There is a visitor carpark but it's on street level and is accessed from market st and in full view of passing traffic and pedestrians. The Glassy is just up the road and with cafes and stuff in the area i figure the spot is fairly safe based on the fact that it is a busy street. WRONG!!! I crashed at another mates house on saturday night and returning to get my car on sunday morning i noticed my passenger window was down - weird i thought...closer inspection revealled that the whole window has been smashed!!! FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARK!!!! The door was ajar so whoever broke in, opened the door, alarms gone off and then bolted i guess. What was taken - the plastic surround off my cd player...that's right, the plastic f**king surround off my cd player!!! I'm obviously very very pissed off and i do count myself lucky in some respects after reading some of the other horror stories from these forums. The key barrels are all ok, nothing else was damaged or defaced but im starting to wonder just how low some people really are going in order to make a nuisance of themselves. Anyway, that's my whinge for a monday morning but if anyone was in the 'gong in that area on saturday night and saw / heard anything, please pm me as i've gone the police and any more info would be great. Neighbours reckon they heard ppl talking around 2 - 230am but thats it. Oh - and if anyone sees a black plastic CD player dash surround laying around anywhere in wollongong, let me know as i'd like it back - reward offered

spotted a black r32 gtst (no not mine!) headin south on gladesville bridge bout 2:30pm last friday the 15th. Now i have a real sharp eye for spotting gtr look-a-likes, hey, i drive one! but this one i really had to look twice, dumped reeeeally low, no spolier - but a gtst bonnet. number plate ybk... and headin south on warringh fwy just past falcon st about 630pm i spotted a nice white r34GTT number plate AB.... (not abobob) - had gold 17's...

both Putty Rd & Kangaroo Valley have been mentioned but deserve another 2 very big thumbs up!!!! Although no-one has mentioned the cahill expressway in Sydney (northbound) - belt along the top of circular quay then into the 270 deg corner under observatory hill then out onto the harbour bridge - oh the wail of a straight six

550cc Nippon Denso Injectors
rednut replied to ricknismo's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
do these things fit straight into an RB20DET...? -
Roy - yeah i've heard RB25 ecu's are basically a paperweight once you start modifying them. And i'm subscribed to the "top RB20 club..." thread also and it seems you're having heaps of success by running yours down Calder and adjusting / tweaking stuff from there...definitely sounds like the way to go Cubes - once i can be arsed to get to my mates place i'll definitely put up the dyno graph - and your exactly right, mid range is where all the fun (read:gain!) is, there's a massive power lump right up to about 6000 rpm and then it drops. And that's how I drive it now, short shifting!
-
Sorry dude - don't think I was quite clear... Stock + Power FC = bugger all difference - a bit more responsive so I guess a few rwkw gain but hardly noticeble... All mods I listed on first post = 166.3 rwkw and HEAPS of difference... And that's just it, it feels faster than 166.3 rwkw - I can now easily keep up with my mates s6 rx7 which has 188 rwkw - yeah I know rotaries and RB's are like apples and oranges but then all the debate over dynos and shit is kinda proving to me that the drag strip is the best "real world" way to guage performance improvements. Watch this space for a time slip
-
Thats just it mate - what is a good tune? I guess it depends on the tuner themselves and what you want it for. When I first got the power FC i took it to a guy in Sydney called Hitman, who is a gun tuner, but he mainly does rotary drag cars. I couldn't tell much difference then but my mate took his s6 RX7 there also and driving the rx7 after the tune, it would certainly be a handful on the track but the straight line speed is incredible. So once I got all this other work done, I took it to Unique Auto Sports instead, who specialise in Nissans. The bloke spent a couple of hours on the dyno then went for a short drive - a short time comparitively to re-tune a car. I guess the things i've learnt here is that tuning takes time to get it right for what you want and that a few tuning tweaks are needed.
-
cheers BADHABIT!!! Fhrx - yeah i know head unit amplifiers are small - once the funds are available a nice big amp will definitely grace my car somewhere
-
I'm amazed at the different power figures everyone is getting off different dynos with different mods - its incredible!!! I might have to try a different dyno with a different tune and see what happens. sxygtst - the power FC I've actually had in for a while now and on it's own, it made stuff all difference - even with a good tune. When you start doin other stuff, that's when the power FC really starts to make a difference over a stock ECU. Bretto - you're absolutely right mate, I reckon a run down WSID will tell the whole story!!!
-
Bigger turbo time = nothing makes me more moist!!!! :aroused: in time an HKS GT RS will grace my exhaust manifold... mines a 1992 build so its definitely a series 2 engine & turbo...very odd that the power figures are less than what others are gettin with similar / less mods also i am running quite wide rear wheels & tyres - 9" wheels, 255 tyres - would that affect dyno figures?
-
Yeah the bloke at Unique Auto Sports says those mods should see 170 - 180 rwkw, but then he said that i am only running 14psi plus its a stock turbo...hmmm. I've got to back and see him for a few tuning tweaks and i need to double check the injectors so i'll see if there's any difference then... 104rwkw - cheers!

I'm sure this has been covered before in a previous thread but I couldn't find anything so here goes... I've just got a decent Sony head unit in my R32 but the stock speakers, god bless their 20w power - simply aren't up to the job! No being a unique size, 6"x4" - whats the done thing when it comes to speaker upgrades? I am thinking just a pair of 6" cones or a split system up front and the same or 6"x9"s up the back. Is this set up do-able considering the stock speakers are such an odd size? Is there a better / easier set up that other people have done? Any ideas / suggestions would be great... Cheers

Gday all, A real quickie here, just wondering if anyone knows what power an RB20DET, pref out of an R32 GTST, makes at the wheels - when she's completely STOCK STANDARD... I've just the below mods done to my baby and she now puts out a tidy 166.3 rwkw running 1.0 bar boost. Apexi power FC Greddy Profec B elec boost cont. 3" turbo back exhaust (catco hi-flo cat & dump pipe, X-force cannon muffler) 600x300x76 FMIC with full custom plumbing HKS pod filter in FL guard - best cold air intake i've ever seen! Sard adj fuel pressure regulator Walbro 550hp 250 lph in-tank fuel pump stock injectors - about 80% duty cycle i think... Unfortunatley I didn't get the chance to dyno it beforehand so i'm interested to find out what the power difference is. I'm guestimating they make around 100 - 110 rwkw but if anyone's actually dynoed a stocker, i'd love to here what they really make! Cheers

Top RB20 Club... do you have over 260rwkw?
rednut replied to RBsileighty's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I haven't reached 200rwkw but that it is certainly the next goal in my project... My RB20DET now looks like this after about 5k Turbo Back 3" exhaust system (catco muffler & cat) modyourcar 600x300x76 FMIC Apexi Power FC Sard adj Fuel Pressure Regulator Walbro 550hp 250lph in-tank fuel pump stock injectors (about 80% duty cycly i think) stock turbo With 1.0 bar boost, all this netted me a max of 166.3 rwkw with about 6 other runs between 160 - 166 rwkw. I'll scan the dyno chart up tonight if I can because the power lump below 3.5k is awesome, it's really torquey and just pulls from 3k all the way to 6k - very smooth and very strong. The next item on the shopping list is a GT2530 or similar turbo, so stay tuned...! -

The Biggest Brain Explosion Ever!!!
rednut replied to rednut's topic in General Automotive Discussion
LOLOLOLOL!!!!! my mate did the same thing in his 'rolla, locked the keys in his car, whilst running, at the driving range in Terry Hills - the funniest bit is that he didn't realise until we came back from smackin some golf balls!!!!! NRMA to the rescue once again... -
That's right, whats the absolute dumbest thing you've ever done to / with / relating to your car??? I thought i'd start this thread and get everyone to share their efforts after quite possibly the biggest display of supidity, by me...ever, on Saturday, here goes.. My mate and I were installing his old Sony head unit in my R32. So we got all the tools out, unplugged the battery, took the dash surround off etc, put it all back together and then tested the deck - sweet, it worked, no worries. Went to start the car to move it...it turned over but nothing, try again - same thing. I waited another minute, tried again but it still wouldn't fire. Checked the battery connections, tried again, nothing!!! I'm freakin out about now cos I got my car all tuned etc the previous day at UAS so all should be fine...i couldn't believe it, I had to call the NRMA cos I had no idea!!! I was told 90 mins...great, had to wait...thankfully they rocked up after only 10mins. I started telling the bloke what the problem was then he asked me if i had an immobiliser...FAAAAAAAARK!!!! :bs!: So i hit the unlock button - "beep beep" it, turned the key..VAAROOM!!! MOTHERF**KER The poor NRMA dude didn't even touch my car!!! Now i'm never one to be too ashamed to call the NRMA but i think this one was bordering on the ridiculous!!!

I have for sale a standard turbo off an R34 GTT which I bought off eBay on the 19th of Feb 2005. Here is the URL for the eBay auction - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...=ADME:B:WN:AU:1 And I remember it was for sale on these forums too but I can't find the URL for it, anyway... The original seller claimed that the turbo had travelled only 18,000 kms and never been boosted. I bought it as an upgrade for my R32, however the turbo arrived and things went pear shaped from then. As you can see in the pics, the exhaust turbine blades are cracked - not good. These turbos have ceramic turbines and break easily when over-boosted etc. And being ceramic, had they broken in transit or similar, the cross section would be clean ceramic - these are not, and have been this way for some time. It will work but it wouldn't be long before it completely shatters. This turbo requires a new blade and shaft which I have been quoted by Garret Turbochargers themselves at $380. Fitting and balancing is then extra. That price is for a steel blade and once sorted, boost can be wound right up to 25-ish psi i'm told. I unfortunately can't afford this at the moment and have decided to cut my losses. The good news however is that compressor is in top condition and spins freely with no shaft play. Once sorted, this turbo is a straight bolt on for any R32 / R33 GTST and R34 GTT and an awesome upgrade for any 4 cylinder Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Hyundai etc with the right manifold. These are rated from standard at 206kw and with the steel exhaust blade and the right mods, 240 - 250 rwkw would be easily obtainable. It comes with the exhaust gasket also. I've been burnt off eBay so I just want to get rid of it. I'm not out to rip anyone off so I hope me being honest nets someone a good turbo project. ASKING $250, offers considered. Sydney buyers preferred as i'm sure you'd want to inspect this one before you buy it. I will courier interstate at buyers expense. If anyone requres any further info or wants more pics, please call me on 0414 959 991 - cheers Matt

Hi All, Bit of a dilemma - i'm ready to sort my baby out with a proper intercooler and cruisin round on ebay you can pick up these hybrid ones for less than $400! Having a chat with the good people at UAS they reckon they're no good at all and they want 2k to supply & fit a Plazmaman one. With a turbo upgrade i'm chasing around 200 - 250 rwkw... To anyone thats had experience with both types of intercoolers, are these Hybrid ones really no good or are UAS just trying the big sales pitch at me...i know UAS are regarded pretty well as far as tuners go but wanted to double check before i lay out 2k for a 'cooler... Nice one
