  1. its rated at 450hp so that'd my guess - once finished i should have a nice track weapon
  2. Gday Everyone, I'm lookin at a new turbo for my baby Its an AiResearch T3 T04B rated at 450hp with the following specs: Compressor wheel - 54 trim Compressor housing - 60ar Turbine side - 48ar T3 Flange Its apparently a straight drop in replacement for R32's (gtst). My car currently has the following: Apexi Power FC 3" cat back exhaust Bleed type boost controller, boost now up to 10 - 11 psi Pod type air filter Couple of things i hope someone can help us out with, 1 - Would this turbo really be a straight bolt on? 2 - If so, would i need any other major mods done for daily driving stuff? Ie can i drive around on moderate boost - I eventually plan to install a FMIC, electronic boost controller & new turbo back exhaust system but the budget only goes so far! 3 - Can anyone comment on the quality / reliability of these turbos? This is totally new ground for me so if anyone has any other tips or suggestions feel free to share! Cheers!
  3. mmm yeah bad example - wasn't sure on the full story on that one, apologies anyone. my point remains though, authorities always try and make a scapegoat out of someone in the event of accidents...the simple truth would be easier for most people to accept. Rather than waste time and point the finger at whoever they feel is responsible, actually do something about it...
  4. yeah figured there'd be a few steps in the install which'd be beyond me...can these be done by any auto electrician or are dedicated performance tuners the way to go?
  5. took him 30 mins to fit the powerFC and plug in his laptop, a proper boost gauge (i only have the factory one) and about another hour or so on the road tuning. Couldn't tell you how it compares to a dyno - although i'd guess they'd go through the identical process just, on a dyno and not on the road. He did a touch for me a couple of weeks later and that was also on the road
  6. Hoping someone can put my mind at ease and give me an idea of what this awful sound might be... :boohoo: If i driving along and rev the car with anything more than half throttle over 3.5k/4k rpm, a real loud, mechanical type noise comes from under the bonnet. It almost sounds like a whistle being blown into really, really, really hard - like by compressed air or something. Now if the car is idle and i floor it and rev over 4k rpm, this sound does not occur. I initially thought it was my turbo, so i had a cry, started cursing randomly, kicking things and abusing random passers by from my balcony. I then composed myself and thought about it and went for a drive. In 4th at 100km/h, i floor it and sure enough, full boost comes on and i'm away - but no sound (not that i could hear anyway). So i was a but confused after this...for reference, below i have listed previous issues by car has had and current mods Previous Issues: 1 - my power steering belt just came off one night under normal driving. They have 3 "ribs" and one of them just sheared off! 2 - on a HOT (track temps 50 deg +) track day at Eastern Creek my power steering fluid shat itself all over my engine bay, refilled it and all seemed well Mods: Apexi PowerFC 3" cat back exhaust Pod type ir filter Bleed type Boost Controller (boost now up to 11-12psi) My bro reckons it could be my injectors but after writing this and seeing the 2 issues with the power steering - maybe its that...anyone?
  7. the $300 for hitman is for a road tune - he charges extra for a dyno tune ($80 / hr upwards i beleive). Couldn't tell you whats better - anyone? But with a road tune there's the obvious risk of getting caught speeding (license loosing speeds i might add!!!), compared against the extra cost for a dyno tune, its up to you...
  8. and china - he went there late last year, thats how good he is!
  9. he took me out onto the m5 motorway, armed with his laptop plugged into my powerfc, he then said drop into 4th and go...so we go...and at 170 he then says okay back off! this process was repeated about half a dozen or so times!!! whilst your driving hes doing all the tuning etc on the laptop - i found it hilarious!!!
  10. Bloody good point, all the gummint / rta / police need when road tragedies occur is someone to blame. It happens all across the spectrum of tragedies - the canberra bushfies is one that springs to mind - these were natural disasters, from memory i think as i remember thinking "why are they trying to find someone to blame for a natural disaster??!!" It just plain s@#ts me!!! I know road accidents are different because it involves people making choices and decisions about their own actions. A majority of these accidents are just that, accidents. Its a small minority of individuals who think they're michael schumacher when they get behind the wheel that tarnish the reputation for young performance car enthusiasts trying to do the right thing. Then the powers that be make a big song and dance about cerfews, banning certain types of cars for different levels licenses etc...bulls@#t - all of it - its all about raising revenue and pointing the blame at the least represented age group...
  11. TOTALLY!!! You can't go past a clublock - its a physical barrier to these ****wits and in most cases (above as evidence) your car wont even get touched! I've personally never seen a ceffy in the flesh but i'll certainly be lookin out for one now - especially a black one
  12. the bloke a few of the guys were referring to on the thread supplied by gizmo73, Hitman, really knows his S#@t - he uses and sells Haltech computers which wouldn't be a bad idea if your after big HP. Otherwise a powerFC would be the next best thing you could do for your GTR. Plus, the experience of a road tune is hilarious!
  13. Gday! I've got a Greddy Profec B Spec II boost controller on the way (with english manual and all the gear to install it) and i have a couple of questions hopefully a few technically minded ppl can help me out with. For everyones info i have an RB20DET powered R32 gtst with the following mods: - cat back 3" exhaust - pod type air filter - apexi power fc - bleed valve type boost controller (boost now up to 11 - 12psi) My questions: 1 - I generally know my way round a car but are these things difficult to install? 2 - Would it be advisable to have these fitted by a pro? If so, I'm in Chatswood, Sydney - anywhere someone can recommend? 3 - Is this model fully electronic ie can it limit boost to certain point and prevent boost spikes? Thanks to anyone who replies...Cheers
