  1. yup thats the new FPV version anyways. Gotta love that 550nm of torque makes LS1's look weak
  2. guys building it were a bunch of A$$clowns, i'll pm you about the rest lol
  3. I've had a fair share of experience with mine's ecu's and it seems they have 2 tuning techniques, very very rich, ass loads of timing, or very very lean, moderate amounts of timing. Personally i hate the things and would throw them as far as i could. In my old silvia i actually made more power going back to a standard ecu than with the mine's ecu. I haven't come across anyone out here who can tune them because of the aforementioned gobs of epoxy covering the whole chip. I'd definately get any car with a mine's ecu onto a dyno to make sure it's safe, and promptly change to something that can be tuned out here.
  4. The xr6 turbo's will definately be able to run on normal unleaded, all that happens is the timing is retarded as soon as the knock sensor senses any funny business. As for them making big power with just a few add ons, unless you deal with the over protective computer, you could actually go backwards. Thats why the aps/capa kits are so popular. The other thing is they will be an absolute whore to get off the line on the street, with the amount of torque they have and the amount that they weigh, getting them up off the line will be a very tricky balance between disapearing in a cloud of wheelspin and bogging down.
  5. It seems there's alot of skyline drivers around that have lots of big red shoe's at home these days. i get the feeling sometimes that to own and drive a skyline in sydney you need a disclaimer, IE "The only Tools in this skyline are in the boot"
  6. could it be that the clearances set by the engine builder were a little on the large side? as in to allow massive boost etc?
  7. I'm pretty sure someone at advan di alot of work on the manifold that ended up in ben ellis's 34 GTT, and that was a low mount with a 600hp XTR single turbo.
  8. Looks the goods!! Love the rims as well
  9. it's a good idea that both speed and zoom seem to cover quite well with different approaches, but what about chassis tuning?? Both speed and zoom tend to concentrate on the go parts of the equation without really touching on suspension/brake tuning. No point making all that power when you can't put it to the ground and stop yourself after it
  10. yup technical stuff is where it's at. There's already lots of poster/girls on cars mags out there, but aside from zoom and the odd pieces scattered around in various mags there's not a huge technical base out there.
  11. for a seemingly rare car there's an arseload of R32 GTR N1's there!
  12. i had them on my soarer and they vastly improved stopping especially from high speed. They were Very fade resistant and i'd definately buy them again
  13. it would've been a great comparison, as even though there may not be much of a gain at peak power, im sure the differing torque and power curves would show that there is alot more area under the curve than there was prior to the power fc being fitted. No point in having huge peak power if you've got nothing for 80% of the rev range.
  14. no, you can get a caliper adapter made up
  15. Try sending Judd a pm, last i heard he had one in his possession
  16. you can adapt an RB30 bottom end to fit, but by the time you buy the pistons, rods, clean everything up and have all the mods done to fit it can cost as much as as jap stroker kit anyways. It is however a nice alternative considering the price of the OS 3 litre kit.
  17. Hey guys, does anyone know what the biggest size disc is that would be able to fit under the 32 V spec's standard 17x8's? I want to retain the standard brembo's as they seem to have a good pad size as well as keeping the costs lowish. I figured they just need a bigger disc up front. Any suggestions? cheers!
  18. yeah true, i know what you mean there, my gtr has cost me $25K and it's not on the road yet, and i still probably have another 5-10K to spend before it's where i want it to be,but i think alot of people underestimate the sheer cost of it all, especially when it comes to getting a gearbox behind it
  19. lets see, stock GTR gearbox is about 1500-2K 2nd hand for the 5 speed, i've heard around 3500+ for the R34 6 speed, OS giken gearsets are around 5K, dog boxes between 5-10, trust six speeds were around 8K last time i checked, Hollinger's are about 20K. It's not like were talking about the $200-300 for a service here unfortunately
  20. amen to that!! unless of course youhave a replacement box and a tilt tray waiting for you. There is a certain R32 GTR i know of that has run a sub ten second pass in japan that is out here potting around with some serious hardware on it... The only problem is they can't get a box to hold up behind it and they don't have the budget for a hollinger... what a dilemna hey?!?
  21. the only beef i've had with nengun is the times i've ordered things they've been nabbed by customs and i've had to pay duties on them, thus making them not really worth the effort
  22. i thought that was the go as well, only the v specs got the k?
  23. from memory RH9, the R34 GTR that was a customer of crd used one, they seem to be a good cooler
  24. does anyone know if 32's can run out of revs and gearing before the big 300?, that may also be a problem. Carbon fibre driveshafts are around 11k also One thing you'll definately want to concentrate on is the suspension setup. Think about it logically, your going to need something that will be very stable at 300+ if you intend to go there, otherwise someone will be scraping you off their new pile of scrap metal. The last thing you want at those speeds is to start getting unstable. Take the willal racing GTR, there not even hitting that mark yet across the 1/4 and they've had seriously scarey moments in the last part of the track on street tyres. You will definately need some body mods to reduce drag and lift in order to help your stability. You may also need a well sorted out wing in order to provide you with the necessary down force in order to keep it all stable...
