Stagea Moderately-powered vehicle grounds
Spud Man replied to StageaALAN's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Try JPNZ International. I bought a translated owners manual for a series 2, so different power and weight. I bought it 8 years ago so not sure if they will still have it. [email protected] or www.jpnz.co.nz -
Thanks, but it's too late. Apparently they've sent it off to be repaired and I pick up the car on Saturday. Bit nervous about how it turned out, aircon thermo fan was another item they had issues sourcing. FMIC was bent and they sent that off for repair as well,The panel beaters was recommended by Shannons, so heres hoping it's not another Suncorp dodgy brothers.

C34 front bumper Need some help, chasing a front bumper for Series 2 C34, preferably Pearl White. Missus wrapped mine around a tow bar. Car is at panel beaters but they can't find one. Gave them contact details for Osaka Imports but nothing has happened. So wondering if any other wreckers in Melb deal with C34 parts. Also, wondering if anyone has been having issues trying to get into the Stagea parts classifieds. For a while, all i was getting was good ol '404' error, now Mozilla won't let me go there saying the site is not been configured correctly and is not secure.
-
I'm happy for moving the date if it suits others more. i'm easy, just ask the missus!

Melbourne airport lookout sounds okay for me.

So, where are we going? Being a long weekend, I'm hoping Sunday would have light traffic. Haven't done anything Easterish for decades, so i dunno.
-
Are the low numbers because of Easter Sunday?
-
Even though i penciled in the 13th, that's rubbed out now, moving house. It'll have to be 27th
-
Since this is out in the west i'll be up for whatever happens. Also checked out Hanging Rock website and they charge 10 bucks per car entry. It's been 25 years since i was last there all they had then was some barbies, dunnies, a racetrack, oh yeah and a big rock. As i said, March is a little tricky, I've penciled in the 13th, so I'm keen.
-
Been up to the cross a few times, good views on a clear day. Most times found it crowded with tour buses and the restaurant there seem to be a little overpriced for not much chop. I also don't recall any barbies or anything. However, what about a meet up, there or Macedon township or somewhere else. Then drive over the mountain and take the back way into Hanging Rock and stop for a...ummm...picnic.

Been waiting for another cruise but March will be a little tricky. Very interested though

Thanks for that. I was under the impression the lens was coloured. In daylight , to me, it appears to have some colouring that i couldn't identify.
-
Sorry, I mean the gauge cluster. Light bulbs behind are very dim and I can barely read the speedo at night. So i thought I'd upgrade to LEDs rather than replace bulbs. But as coloured LEDs have a specific wavelength I want to match as close as possible to the coloured lens on the gauges.
-
Hi Guys I'm trying to work out the colour of the lens in the dash of a C34. I want to replace the bulbs with LED's. It might be obvious to some of you but I'm asking because have colour blindness and have difficulty distinguishing red from brown, red from orange, red from purple as well as some other colours. I want to match the LED as close as possible to the lens colour. Cheers

What Have Idiots Done To Your Stagea Lately!
Spud Man replied to Lakes101's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Three weeks after we bought the Stag, walking out of a shopping centre, nice big dent in drivers rear quarter, only in there 20 mins tops. Had fun with insurance on that one, "But you just bought the car and we have to be sure it wasn't pre existing" It wasn't and eventually all sorted, felt like a punch in the guts though. -
Just thought i'd post this in case any one comes across a similar issue. Some months back had an MV Auto shift kit fitted to my rwd C34. Everything was fine and dandy for a few months until one day i wanted to have some real fun, manual mode, wot. Got home and noticed funny whirring sound from trans, checked fluids etc, found everything good. Next day drove it in D seemed fine, switched to manual and revs would flare approx 500 rpm for each change, back into D and fine again. Spoke to MV auto and they said they hadn't heard of that sort of prob before and it sounded strange and i should get it checked. Found a local tranny bloke here in Western Suburbs and described symptoms. He said it was very strange as the symptoms should show up the other way around. If there was an issue with the trans, i.e if the pump was dropping pressure it would show up in D and manual mode should make it seem less obvious. He said it might be a TCU problem. I decided to see if i could get it to relearn by disconnecting the battery and drain power by jumping on the brakes. After reconnecting and driving it for about 20 mins no change. Booked it in for a check up. Went to drop it off this morning and it was good again. Tranny bloke said it would've been the first thing he would have done as well. So now back to Yee Ha and smiles. I'll keep posted if issue returns but am hoping relearn has solved problem Cheers

Something else I've found out to keep things legit, Vic Roads only allows 1 inch extra width from stock, so I will keep keep it 8 inch all round. Not wimping out, just don't wanna mess with insurance. Those mongrels will do anything to not pay out. Also in misread the rwd offsets, it's +40 only.
-
Nuts, just checked here in Vic they are illegal too, very likely voiding insurance as well. I like to do things legit so I'll have to see if maybe someone would like to swap with some 17's with smaller width. Mine are Vertec VR5 Manaray Sport, 18x8 an 18x9 +35 offset. Found some specs that said the rwd C34 runs 30mm to 40mm offset with 6.5 to 7inch rim width.
-
I didn't weigh them on scales, just picked 'em up one after the other with the same arm when i was checking the fit. Re the increased mass, the way i understand it, the further the rim is from the hub, the harder it is to spin. Think of an ice skater doing a spin, to increase the speed of the spin they bring their limbs in towards the centre. I also found this when i was doing a bit of searching. http://www.caranddriver.com/features/effects-of-upsized-wheels-and-tires-tested I'm not sure if i would notice anything going from 16 to 18 inch judging by these times, but the difference is measurable. I guess i'll found out in a couple of weeks when i get some new tires on the rims and get'em bolted on. If anything, knowing they may be having an impact would probably play on my mind more than seat of the pants feel. I was just simply curious to see if anyone else had noticed anything different acceleration wise when they had upsized their wheels.
-
I'll give hub centric with stronger, extended bolts a try. I want to get away with the minimum spacer size as i'm not after a bling, flush look, just gotta get bigger wheels than stock cos of issues sourcing front discs for my RS as it is rwd. Front discs are on their last machine and probably a whole heap easier and better to upgrade. The wheels are 3 piece 18x8 front 18x9 rear which i understand wouldn't be a prob for the awd guys but is an issue for the rwd. Something else i was wondering about is the wheels are heavier than stock, which would obviously increase rotational mass which has an effect on acceloration and economy. Has anyone with 18's on their car noticed this effect?

Just wondering if wheel spacers for a daily driven are a good idea. Been offered some good rims for a good price. They hit my front struts and i will need to use spacers. The seller is throwing in some flat 5mm slip ons with the wheels and they will be enough to clear the struts. Been reading all sorts of stuff on the intergoogle and basically the answers range from no, never use them to yeah 5mm slip ons are ok.
