R34 Gtr Ecu Compatability,
thatlbeme replied to thatlbeme's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
All good, was able to get the correct ecu. -
Looking at getting an ECU for a 08/1999 vspec (ecu model number 23710-AA300 for cars Jan 99 to Oct 99) and want to use an ECU from a car Oct 99 to Oct 00 with the model number 23710-AA301. Would anyone know if there was any changes between the two models. cheers Ian

The mechanics topped up the gas when they did the last service (done to keep the warranty legit) but didn't go any further with it as they only do the basics. The revs pick up when engaging A/C but thats as far as I have got. Downloaded the R34 manual but it doesn't cover the GTR but will use that as a guide to try and find out more. Might be outside for a while but will check the pipes you mentioned for coolness. thanks Edit, the diagnostics from the R34 manual seems to be applicable for the GTR as well, didn't find any faults when diagnosing and changed relays to check it as well so will leave it to the experts as it looks to be a magnetic clutch issue. The tubes from the compressor, the top one was warm and the lower one was normal when the A/C was on.
-
Just to do some basic fault finding pre auto electrician as the compressor engages when you turn it on but I am guessing the clutch in the compressor is buggered. Will probably need some info for the Auto electrician as well if thats the case.
-
Looks like the compressor might be knackered and I was chasing some information from a Manual and was wondering if the info from the R34 Service Manual covers the R34 GTR for the air conditioner. thanks

Thanks everyone who contributed to this thread, full rotors and pads job went without a hitch. Only thing I could add to the thread was the front rotors on a R34 GTR with the 324mm rotors will need a 10mm 1.25 pitched bolt instead of the 8mm bolt. And if you get caught like me without the 10mm bolt just take one of the bracket that the steering arm bumps into on full lock as its a 10mm 1.25 bolt. cheers

What Drivers On Our Roads Are Doing To Skylines.
thatlbeme replied to S3RK's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Sorry to hear about your loss, and to cop a neg driving fine on top of it is a pain. The only thing I could think as to why the cops gave you a neg driving fine would be if you told them the other driver was stationary in the middle of the roundabout then in their reckoning the onus would have been on you to avoid hitting the stationary car. I guess it depends a lot on the honesty of the other driver as he might of lied and claimed that he and you both entered the roundabout at the same time and claimed you were speeding so he braked to a stop to avoid a collision. Hope he didn't lie and owns up to it but in case he has lied then best of luck with getting it all sorted. And yes definately argue against it. -
Cusco Front Camber Arms Adjustments.
thatlbeme replied to thatlbeme's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Just a bit far for bushes I think, need 1.5 degrees to get back to standard but I am looking for about 1 degrees to take it from -2.5 degrees to -1.5 degrees. -
Cusco Front Camber Arms Adjustments.
thatlbeme replied to thatlbeme's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain

Cusco Front Camber Arms Adjustments.
thatlbeme replied to thatlbeme's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Thanks for the replys, just so I have got it right is the plus 5mm for getting less camber and the -5mm, and -10mm for giving you more camber. If thats the way they work then I might have to look at another brand as I am trying to get less camber to correct it after lowering the car, but if the -5mm -10mm give me less camber then they would do what I need. thanks -
Hi all, searched but couldn't find out what the 4 settings on the Cusco front upper arms are. If there is 3 degrees of adjustment available does that mean that u can get .75 or 1.5 degrees of camber adjustment either side of what you had before installing the arms. any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks for the good advice. Was able to buy a second hand plastic bar to fit while I try and get the Nismo bar repaired. -
Recommend A Courier For Front Bar.
thatlbeme replied to thatlbeme's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Thanks for the replies, I will check them out. -
Looking for a recommendation for a courier that can cart a plastic front bumper from Brisbane to Tamworth or Newcastle. Tried getting a couple of quotes but because of the unusual measurements 180cm by 70cm by 50cm of a bumper bar the quotes were quite high. I have seen some reasonable quotes on ebay for bumper bars but can't find a courier that wil do it for a reasonable price. If anyone has posted something similiar could you post up the name of the courier please. Thanks

Replacement Front Bar For R34 Gtr
thatlbeme replied to thatlbeme's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Thanks for the link 10 4, no luck there. Turns out the front bar I wrecked was a Nismo bar, not the original bar as I thought. Might be worth trying to get it repaired as it was a good fit for a fiberglass bar, failing that then the N Style bars might be my best bet. -
Have been looking for a replacement front bar but can't finf one that looks the same as the original, the closest I can find is the "N Style" bar from carmate, empire aero etc. Has anyone seen a replacement bar similiar to the attached photo, barring an original from Nissan (to pricey) the bar is pretty well had it (dead kangaroo on the middle of the road) but the black plastic piece between the bar and the diffuser is allright and can be used again. I preffer the look of the original bar with the black plastic section as opposed to the one piece one colour of the N Style bar but can't find a replacement one similiar to the original. . edit second attached photo is the one I am trying to find, if anyone knows if someone makes a copy please let me know where and who. Thanks

Just Bought R34Gtr Vspec Ii !
thatlbeme replied to wlin88's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Attached the Service Data page from R34 service manual. The" Nissan Mission Oil BNR34 special" oil that Nissan recommend for the Getrag gearbox is very very expensive and will most likely have to be imported from Japan and as many claim is only a rebadged Esso oil anyway as per this discussion http://www.supraforu...o-Toyota-Nissan. And also realise the attached page is from a non vspec and that is why they recommend API GL-5 diff oil front and rear for the diffs but I think the vspecs need a Limited Slip Diff oil. -

Diffs I haven't done yet but will be getting advice from our local Nissan dealer as there is some confusion as to whether the vspecs need 80w90 Limited Slip Diff oil or just plain 80w90 diff oil. Engine oil weight that is recommended is 10w40 and I always use Fully Synthetic Oil. Just be carefull if you take it to a mechanic who isn't familiar with the R34 GTR's as he might not be aware that the Transmission is a Getrag and requires Auto Trans oil as opposed to the R33 GTR's and R32 GTR's and R34 non GTR's which are not Getrags and use 75w90 gearbox oil. -

J-R32 Covered it well, the Matic-D oil for your transfer case is not overly expensive so you can't go wrong using what Nissan recommend for that. As for the Transmission another oil that gets good reviews is Castrol Transmax Z, which is a Full synthetic Dexron® III type automatic transmission fluid and is available from Super Cheap Auto at a reasonable price. (I think from memory about $75 for 5 litres when on special). -
All sorted, found the little sucker behind the speedo cluster tucked up on the right top side. Will download the correct manual to try and learn more about it other than just how to turn the alarm on and off. Edit: looks as though I like to talk to myself with this thread but thats ok as us crazy ones usually have a few personalities so we never get bored.
-
It sounds like it is the switch for turning on/off carjacking feature on the car alarm. Glad I didn't accidentially turn it on as I don't have a code to turn it off. All I know is its a Cliffard alarm but the remote controller I got when I bought the car is a controller that works on about a dozen different models. I need to find out what model the alarm is so I can download the correct operating manual for it so will be trying to find the control box. I am thinking it will be behind the dash somewhere as I couldn't see it in the engine bay anywhere. If anyone knows where they usually hide these things could you please reply as it might save me a heap of time in pulling things apart for no reason. Thanks
-
Perhaps something to do with the HIDS, has anyone got a similiar switch that could let me know what you are using it for. Thanks
-
Not a big issue but was curious about a switch thats shown in the attached picture. I haven't found out what it does so was hoping someone can id it for me. In the picture it is the switch in the middle between the Japenese car alarm light that is on the left and the HID headlight adjuster shown on the right, it has two tabs that you can press and the right side tab has a symbol looking like a sun or something. My guess it has something to do with the alarm/imobilizer as its beside the alarm light that flashes blue when it is turned on. Thanks if anyone can help.

Spotted a white R34 vspec at Berwick Views Beaconsfield, only thing is it might have been some time ago as I saw it while watching TV on a show called "A place in the sun", they were trying to find a Pommy couple a house in Melbourne to immigrate too. It was parked in the driveway across the road from the house (no 5) a two story red brick house they were showing the Poms.
