  1. In 6 months of skyline driving, I've been pulled over three times. Once for driving like a dickhead, once for no reason at all and once for driving the wrong way in a 1-way street. Still no fines for any of them but I have nothing unroadworthy on my car. It's possibly too loud and one cop said I can expect a fine in the mail for intentionally losing traction or something but nothing ever came from it. You're definitely more likely to get pulled over in a skyline, but assuming you're not a flamin mongrel to the cop, you're not going to be treated unfairly. But I guess it depends who you get pulled over by
  2. Also, can i use the leftover wax on my rims? Will that keep them clean or easy to clean? Someone said to spray them with mr sheen when they're clean and then it's just a hose down job but that advice came from 4chan so I'm not sure
  3. I entered up using almost all magiuares or whatever it's called stuff. Everything but the clay bars which were 'Mothers'. Came up as well as can be expected for a 15 year old car. Still some small scratches I wish came out better but certainly a well spent day and a bit. Better than staying in bed all day watching family guy DVDs. I actually really enjoyed each phase of it. Noticing improvements and when I was done I was happy with the the way it came out. Add some tyre shine, give the wheels one more clean and it looks awesome. I thought I'd get bored of it quickly but got some music going and had a good time. I'll be doing this again some time and revisiting this thread to check those suggestions again before I start. Shat my pants today though. The firsts drive I took after all was completed, I nearly got cleaned up by a fire truck. If there was an accident and it didn't kill me, the anger would have. Pics coming soon. Just on the iPhone at the moment and on my way to work.
  4. and because I was so excited to get started once I bought everything, I forgot to take before pics. But ill try to remember before I start polish and wax
  5. Had a bit of a look. Didnt see your post until after I bought some stuff. Turned out I bought almost all the same stuff you mentioned. wish I saw the thing about clay bars. I bought the Mother's one which is sure is great quality and all that but you're right, its way too small. oh well, finished the claybarring in the end. wash, polish and wax tomorrow. I only plan on douing this once a year or so. Think its worth me buying a orbital buffer"?
  6. Yep, doing that. Don't know where to get clay bar/bars
  7. Ive got 2 days off work and the weather is looking good so im going to do the most thorough detailing/cleaning job I can to get my car looking great. Hopefully from there It'll just take a wash every now and then to keep it looking good. I'll be using tips I found here http://www.skylinesa.../page__hl__wash But if there are new products out there that arent listed, I'll have my phone with me so hit me up with any of your tips/advice since Ive never done this before. The car is a 1996 Series 2 R33 and its black, so I end up washing it all the time only to have it look dirty 10 minutes later. Hopefully this helps. Anyway, I'll post before/after pics when I'm done (Either late tonight or sometime tomorrow) All tips and advice is much appreciated. This is the most recent picture I've foun of it. Will be taking more today.
  8. Theyre all the same brand though. just different colours
  9. Im also doubling up and wearing 4 socks. because my feet were cold
  10. haha, I always wear odd socks. just easier than finding pairs when you lose shit as often as I do
  11. Hey guys, Ive entered a ten minute mix competetition on youtube. Have a listen and hit the like button. would appreciate it. Came third in the last month I entered, would love to get some more free CDs. Thanks guys
  12. While that makes sense, I was taught to drive by my mum, my dad, my sisters, sister's husband and 2 RACV instructors. I think it would be hard to enforce anything like this. But i think proffessional lessons (Maybe minimum of 10 hours) should be manditory with the instructors name(s) on the application before anyone else can take you driving. Also, while this is the opposite to what a lot of people on SAU would want, I think we need much more strict guidelines for roadworthy certificates and harsher punishments for writing up dodgy ones. Ive seen (And owned) cars in shocking states been given a RWC no problem. Lastly, its too easy to get a license. in victoria anyway. I dont know about other states. When I got my P's, I was a shocker driver. While I knew the road rules, I had still had very little driving experience but there was no way vicroads would find that out on a 10 minute cruise while the tester had a good ol laugh with my instructor. months after getting his P's, I had a mate driving me to the city. He told me it was the first time driving on the freeway. How the f**k do we give people license having never driven on a freeway. This is an entirely different level of driving. And I didnt worry too much about going for my license because at the very least it was going to be a waste of 100 bucks and an hour or two of my time and I could always rebook the next week if i failed. No big deal. Why would I make sure I'm a great driver when its so easy to try again? And whats to stop me developping bad habbits as soon a i leave the center? tldr; Make it harder to get a RWC Make people learn to drive with an instructor before theyre family and friends Extend the testing process for P Plates. Include a freeway driving section. (Still need to make sure that testers are doing their job properly.) Limit people to 1 test per 3 or 6 months. This way people will make sure that they are ready before they book a test test drivers every 3-5 years to make sure they havent slipped into bad habbits. Maybe every 2 years after 55 years old or something. These things would probably all piss me off at some point in time, but there are far too many dangerous cars/drivers on the road at the moment.
  13. In the end didnt bother writing a letter becaus im a lazy f**ker. paid the fine. moving on. anyway thanks for (most of) the input.
  14. To name a few Mazda 3 MPS Nissan Maxima Mazda 6 Honda Accord Holden Statesman Lots of others But I cheated. My dad is a surveillance cop so he has a new car for wwork every few months. hehe. He doesnt pull anyone over or do any kind of traffic work. in fact he hates them. Taught me the term 'concrete dickheads' from when i was about 5 years old
  15. I know I shouldnt have done it in the first place. But when you're 18, drinking. trying to impress your mates and possibly because i hadn't been involved in any accidents yet, It's very easy to get carried away. Im not suggesting that everyone should try it once to be scared straight or anything. It's just that I would have considered my group of friends to be the 'sensible group' through school. but I know that at least 50% would have driven after a few drinks on their P's. Suppose I was just lucky enough to not hurt myself or anyone else
  16. One day, I will buy one. And it will be my only child. Even after having children. It will be like the guy's dad's car in ferris bueler
  17. There's a video of some guy 'Ghost Rider' That I had a while ago. In Europe somewhere from memory and he triest to go from city to city in set times in like peak hour traffic. If I can find it, I'll post it up. its a must see. Edit: Found part of the vid i was thinking of on youtube http://www.youtube.c...feature=related And probably a repost
  18. I drove drunk once. About 6 months after getting my P's. I was at a mates house for a piss up. Might have been a birthday or something. Walked to the maccas across the road (Wantirna Maccas) and they wouldnt server us because they closed up inside and we cant walk through the drive through. So I got in my car and drove since it was about 50 meters. Got food and everything and as I was leaving, didnt take any notice of the fact that Burwood Highway is a divided road (Even though I've lived less than 1km from it my whole life) and i turned onto the wrong side of the road. It took me a few seconds to work out what I'd done and I knew something was wrong. Luckily it was about 3-4am and when I realised what I'd done, the lights had gone green and I could drive back to my mate's place. Havent driven drunk or after any alcohol since then. Scared the shit out of me. I felt like I was fine when I got in the car. Didnt even hesitate. A good thing that I had a chance to learn my lesson and be scared straight. I think most people just don't realise how easily alcohol can compromise their judgement. I didnt.
  19. Thanks for responses guys. I may as well take 10 minutes to write a letter. I cant have any complaints if it doesnt work. Seems worth a shot. I'll post back in a few days or whenever I get a response
  20. I might just pay up now. I'm working full time and I can't see myself getting into any real trouble with demerit points in the next few years of P-Plates. As a side note. I am all for speed cameras, but since I was caught on a staight, empty road at mid day in good weather conditions, maybe police need to start thinking about putting them in areas where speeding is actually dangerous. But I cant complain. Done worse withut being picked up in the earlier days of P-Plate driving. probably why my corolla over-heated
  21. Hey guys. I got a speeding fine in the mail about a month ago but with a 21st, work, a poor memory and no organisation skills its taken me until now to wite a letter to contest the fine or have it reduced to a warning. I was done by a car on the side of the road. Recorded speed was 58 and alledged was brought down to 55. It's my first fine since getting my P's 2 years ago (Admittedly not a great deal of time) but a few mates said that since it was a first offence and under 10km's over, I should be able to get off. But having not written a letter themselves or simply forgetting what they wrote, they werent much help in telling me what to write. Anyone had any experience in the same situation? Any suggestions on what I should be writing? Worst part is that it's a couple of streets from my house, I always see the car/camera there and I'm usually making a concious effort to drive 5 km under the limit past it. Edit: Fine was $159 dollars and 1 point
  22. No idea if they still make new bodykits. I dont want to spend anything rediculous on this one before buying GTR but ill be in this for at least 2 years assuming nothing happens to it so i wouldnt mind spending a bit on it for comfort/practical things like tint, reupholstery and gts-t calipers.
  23. Might get the calipers, eyelids, mirrors and tint now, then start saving for the gtr. carbon for that one and engine mods for that one.
  24. Thanks for the ideas guys, Nope, I bought it from a bloke named Jason in the Knox area. I was looking at eyelids, I forgot about painting calipers but that was someonething I was gonna do. are the gtst brakes expensive/much different? and as for lowering it, im struggling to get in and out of driveways already. perhaps in future. Will I have cop trouble with carbon fibre parts in Vic? And lastly, are there any engine changes I can make while I'm on my P's?
