Agreed. My sis in laws had mags and a little spoiler that i actually liked. Always thought they looked like a smaller/nicer version of the r31. -

S2000? + Car Loan Questions
cannabiscorpse replied to kawasakirider's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Pretty sure you can still get unsecured with a fixed interest rate- although fixed is a higher rate. With my bank you had to be working full time for 3 months and have payslips etc. Also, with you not being licensed to drive it, i would say its fine. I just wouldnt mention that to them, and if they ask what car your chasing say its a na version of the 34. If its unsecured it really doesnt matter to them what its spent on as long as you make your repayments. My bank basically has a check list for unsecured loans (car, boat, bike, house renovations, car repairs etc) and once you tick the box there is no questions asked about what you are spending it on. -

S2000? + Car Loan Questions
cannabiscorpse replied to kawasakirider's topic in General Automotive Discussion
With a personal loan mate you have two options- secured and unsecured. The secured loan (more trouble than its worth imo) you have to put the car up as security. However you can still get a unsecured personal loan (pay slightly more in interest) and not have to put the car up as security. They ask what its for- but you can just say its for a car of $$ value. Also in my opinion, get the 34 bro! -

Thanks mate- i have always considered myself very lucky. Most people i hang with had damn step dads etc (half of them violent..) however mine has always been there for me in everyway possible! I understand that u dont want an auto or unrego too though. When i was a younger i bought heaps of unrego'd rally cars and me and my mates thrashed them in the bush around my area. The police never cared as long as we were not on the road and cleaned up our shells (how that has changed!!) Anyway the best 2 we had were an 82 civic 4 speed manual (dunno the model) and an n12 pulsar. Both were seriously bulletproof!! The n12 i rallied for a month, killing tyres and brakes and anything else that was attached haha. In the end i damn well TRIED to kill it, and couldnt. The thing was amazing and i decided i was going to keep it and rego it- but it got stolen and i was devo! The way i treated that car had to be seen to be believed (reversing flat out down a hill, and getting it into 3rd gear smoking its tyres before it ran outta balls etc) All that out of a car that i swapped a set of $100 boxing gloves for! -

In my experience the excel is very hit and miss- a mate had one that did 300,000kms and was still kicking on original engine and box. (did a clutch, but ffs that is awesome for a pissy sized car) Another mate of mines sister owned one, and destroyed basically every suspension component you could think of and its gearbox went at something like 160k. Thats without considering all the interior which fell apart like you wouldnt believe on both haha. -

Check out the skyline for sure- My first car was a vl commodore and the rb30 which is in both of those cars is an excellent engine to work on. Heaps of room in the engine bay, and quite decent on power and fuel to start off with. Having said that, my dad had owned one before hand and he was the one who taught me (still does) how to work on cars. IMO its a great base to start with, -
Awesome advice from the guys here mate. I have a series 1.5 r33 gtst and have looked at these sorts of posts for a few months now, and the outcome seems very similar in most cases. Mine has turbo back zorst, pod (getting changed back to stock box), and r34 gtt intercooler. I also bought a turbotech boost controller which has been really good. (running 10psi) Basically the ecu doesnt like it once you start to do these mods and you need to upgrade it. Mine runs just as well on 7-8psi in most cases as it does on 10psi because of the shitty r33ecu flat spots. I managed to buy an r32 computer which was tuned to run a rb25det that had full zorst and ran 12psi. Got it this week, so hopefully that helps some, but if it doesnt im not phased since it was only $120. Next step for mine is a fmic, high flow stock turbo and bigger injectors. Which with a tune should easily see 220rwkw.

Wow- this site is an endless source of info, its great! I honestly thought engineering was so much of a hassle that it was easier to try and buy another car that already has more power and better suspension/brakes from the factory (gtst to a gtr etc) After seeing this i now realize i can do the minor mods i want and get a cert to cover me.. Up until now i have thought i couldnt get a fmic etc without the police harrassing me. Just goes to show you shouldnt listen to stupid rumors, they are most probably started by people that couldnt be stuffed doing the right thing. Like mbs said- the cost of engineering is essentially not much in comparison to the mods we spend our money on!

Another 'miss Fire' Thread..

Similar thing with mine mate, could be the ecu. Mine got noticeably worse with the more mods i did. Was very slight with stock boost and cat back zorst, then will full zorst and 10 psi it was made much worse. Having said that, most people on standard boost dont have a problem. (i did) -
Well if nothing else (and there is plenty else) the gtr is suppose to be around 1.5 seconds faster over a 1/4 mile! That to me is enough to say which one i would rather drive. Thats without taking into account corners and braking, which we all know who comes out on top. Im also pretty confident saying it after watching the GTR smoke a porsche 911 turbo and Audi R8 V10, lets see a standard hsv do it. In fact i think its easy to 'jump on the bandwagon' when one car is over twice the price (with good reason) After all this is said, what can be expected.. One is practically a supercar, the other a luxo family V8. Also, i f**king loved that GTS!! I am a bit of a holden boy, and a sucker for V8 torque, and i was honestly thrilled to drive the best hsv has offered up, Its a damn beautiful car and miles ahead of anything holden/hsv i have driven in the past. In no way can i knock the car, but its a chalk and cheese comparison.
-
The way i see it, the article itself was a good read, and both are nice cars.. Why not compare em? I have seen worse comparisons. Also as far as price brackets go, sometimes they are beside the point and sometimes cars half the price come out on top. (35 vs 911 turbo etc) Edit- Also most of us probably knew the outcome before reading it!
-
^ yes!! It has all this f**king techy computer in the middle of the dash that displays so much shit.. You can bring up a meter which measures the torque while you are driving, g forces, a tachometer etc etc you can even adjust the damn exhaust note with it.. We spent ten minutes just looking at it trying to work out what the hell to do with it haha.. I was a little undecided to be honest, it may be too much.
-
Drove a my mates parents ve gts just yesterday, and its an awesome car.. no doubt about it. Hands down 100x better than any other commodore or hsv i have driven, having said that its not in the same league as a 35 gtr, and i can say that without driving a 35.
-
Definitely check the cars out for space etc, they arent the roomiest. But i know for me its no hard task, however my daughter is 3 so she can do all the climbing into the back herself.
-
haha- hiding the mods are half the fun! My mrs is always asking whats in the package i just got, so i just make out its for a broken part of the car and i got it cheap! (that only works a few times though)
-
Good advice with the above post in my opinion. I just wanted to pop in and say welcome to the forum- It will be great seeing other skylines with the baby seat in the back!

Apologies to all including Phil for being a dick this morning. I made this thread go downhill even more so than it was.. Sometimes i just keep going for the sake of it, nobody needed it. Apologies especially to the op for the extra page of shit you now need to sort through. I wont do that shit again.
-
34 gt-t for sure!
-
edited out personal attack- The way i see it is that you came in here attacking the op, then had a cry when you got the same treatment in return. Obviously this is going to continue forever so im outta this thread.
-
Another SPECIAL post, how fortunate the op is.
