  1. this thing is nicer than most show cars. awesome.
  2. any updates? I'm thinking of picking some up.
  3. Just phone Rob at Rips. he's spinning his rb30s to 10k. when I searched, I really felt the Ferrea stuff was a step above the rest with regards to off-the-shelf head parts. Also consider the journal bearing precision turbos for good value and performance in big boost applications. here's some good links to check: http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/27874-porting-boy-do-they-need-11.html http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/turp_0809_nissan_rb26dett_castrol_syntec_top_shop_challenge/photo_03.html http://www.theoldone.com/components/cylinderheads/ http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/34580-rb26-ported-head-pics/ http://www.turbomagazine.com/features/0704_turp_nissan_skyline_gtr_ztune/photo_17.html I run the Tomei 280/10.8 cams and spin to 9k. I have about .170" piston to valve clearance on the intake side with +1 valves, 8.5:1 wiseco pistons that are stock shaped, and about 4 degrees retard on the intake cam. I think that's where you'll be limited: p-v clearance on the intake side.
  4. Just wanted to bump this thread to give another example of what the fluctuations look like. this setup jumps around about 500 rpm above 7 or 8k rpm. this setup includes a 2.6L, pfc + datalogit, original CAS, new oem belt and pulleys, no a/c, ATI damper, 280/10.8 cams, and HKS cam gears. not sure what i'll do about it.
  5. air volume is irrelevant. pv=nrt
  6. just wanted to bump this thread for some results. With the stock sensor, I see about 17*C of heat soak. The new sensor sees virtually none. So, my actual air temp is as much as 17*C different than what the stock sensor reads. I installed the new sensor in the plenum.
  7. My head, stock manifolds, turbine housings, flapper ports, and tomei bellmouth dumps are all gasket matched. My top end definitely could use some tuning. I was surprised how little the flappers move when testing them. Like 25 degrees at 20 psi
  8. ha, I wish. I bet I'd see 30psi if I kept going.
  9. this is with no preload, ported gates, boost controller off, verified working actuators and flappers, verified working datalogit signal for boost, and verified working signal lines
  10. Morning ladies and gents, I'm troubleshooting some massive boost creep on my rb26 with -5s. I have not finished testing, but I am curious if others have experienced boost creep on a -5 setup. Is it common? Are we near the mechanical limits of boost control on this setup? I do not see many posts on this topic, so I suspect we are not near the limits.
  11. Just to play devil's advocate here, I have 1 bar of boost at 4300 rpm in 4th gear. I run a 2.6L rb26 with Tomei 280/10.8 cams and -5 turbos on BP98. I'm not sure why you guys are saying these cams and turbos are a poor match.
  12. Cmon now Lithium, you're smarter than this. You make yourself sound like a FP fanboy. At least post your source from the dyno you just posted. who's providing poor data now?
  13. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1913480 This is a 3.0L BMW M50 T4 divided 1.00 a/r HTA 3794R DBB billet Turbo (SLOWER SPOOLING) -VS- T4 open .58 a/r 6262 DBB billet Turbo > T4 divided 1.00 a/r HTA 3794R DBB billet Turbo(SLOWER SPOOLING) -VS- T4 open .68 a/r 6776 DBB non-billet Turbo
  14. what's up with the torque numbers 34gtt?
  15. very nice bri73y. it looks like a -5 set up with about 150 hp extra. love it. how are you controlling boost? through the motec?
  16. gtx vs gt 3.2L bmw
  17. old news. lots of info out there. google.
  18. just drill a hole into the oil pump
  19. you are burning oil your tuner probably busted a ringland or your turbo highflow guy probably screwed up and oil is getting from the turbo to the exhaust
  20. That looks very similar to a -5 result. Interesting!
  21. whatever is in stock IMO my sleeper pick is Cosworth http://www.treadstoneperformance.com/product.phtml?p=1427&cat_key=498&prodname=Cosworth+Nissan+RB26DETT+Forged+Piston+Set
