last time i checked, the Z06 and the GTR both had steering wheels.... i'm pretty sure cars are meant to turn aren't they? although judging from some of these linked threads and comments in here, i'm not sure everyone understands that.. i must admit, it's hard to get your head around...

A bit late, but just wanted to say thanks to Kev and the crew for putting on a great day. Plenty, plenty of track time, great instructors, lots of drinks Highly recommend anyone wanting to get into this sort of thing to go to one of these days. It was my first real "track" day, and was a great way to start out. Nice to meet some of the sau peeps as well Gareth, Kyle. Kyle, i thought you had a GTR, what's the go dude! (just the beginning bit) thanks again guys -
YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(  it what capacity is he using it in? as a wash? or as some sort of weird wax/protection at the end?
-
just did this exact day last saturday, was an awesome day Kev, do you like have a calendar of these sorts of days for the rest of the year? Sandown or other places?

if you want quality, Castrol transmax Z is the shit... or maybe a Redline ATF go with the Castrol. I had steering rack binding issues on short, little motorkhana courses on a cool day, but on saturday, 30degree day, fanging my car around Sandonw, the Castrol (for my power steering fluid!!) completely eliminated the problem. When i was ringing around the usual joints, Super Cheap, AutoB, Repco, re: Transmax Z, they asked, what's it for? i said power steering fluid... and they're like.... oooo, i dunno... i've never heard of that before, i wouldn't recommned that, blah blah. knob jockeys... anyway, it's great stuff, but fairly pricey, ~$70 for 4 litres. Couldn't find anyone who did 1 litre bottles anymore

*whispers* should we tell adz that this thread is about 6 months old? -
ultimates from quite a few accounts prob won't cut it on the track, especially with the speeds your car is capable of. re: brake pads.... how much track time are you considering?? in case you don't know, go to finalinspection.com.au to keep your car clean

is there a pdf or something like that, that's been sent out for this?? EDIT: found it -
less a bit of the huge markup a Nissan dealer would charge, those prices are unfortunately about right. As paul has pointed out, if a compliance workshop deems the brembo pads are less than 50%, bang, $1500 - $2000 added to your compliance cost due to genuine brembo pads. so Nissan is at least correct in what they're quoting, albeit at inflated dealer prices. If it's not compliance related, you can source some after market pads but you might have trouble finding ones that fit the brembo calipers. I think QFM can put whatever of their compounds you want onto your backing plate. But yes, genuine brembo is very pricey and as others have said, prob don't want to go near a Nissan dealership. Are your brakes rooted?? or they getting on in life? by the way, your car is ridiculous HOT!!

sorry, that came out wrong. i was thinking in my head, and forgot to type, that i've changed an order from 5w40 castrol syntec (not full sythn) to Royal Purple 5w30 (full synth) be informed it should be ok, but never hurts to have some opinions. Yeah dude, def see you at the track day! I think it's fair to say we've both been running around like idiots getting our cars ready I'm still got some fluid changes and brake pads to go, and i should be semi happy bout my prep. How's your car coming along? i "think" we also did a driver training day together as well. -

true, but i'd rather use a full synth 3w50 than a semi synth 5w40 -
So I Cut My Bonnet Release Cable On My R34....
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
jeebus, forgot about this thread!! ok, story... left keys in ignition... drains battery (not sure how, no lights were on) but not completely. Alarm remote still functions, car is arming and disarming (according to the icon on the remote) but not enough power to actually open the door locks. Ring RACV. They come out, try initially to wedge the window open a bit where the it meets the soft rubber strip, so as to get a wire in to pull open door luck. Not much give in the window, RACV guy concerned window will shatter. Puts wedge in between window and door rubber strip (horizontal bit) to try and get the door lock rod (horizontal). Manages to get the rod and door lock starts to come open. BUT even though there wasn't enough power to open the central locking, there was apparently enough power to KEEP the solenoid working and not allow the RACV guy to actually open the lock. Highly annoying. Keeps trying for 30mins+, different wires etc... I then say, if we can get to the battery, perhaps if we jump it, it will solve our central locking problem. So i try pulling on the bonnet cable by reaching from underneath the front bumper. Get the latch to move about 1mm, but Nissan have thought of this, and the wire that does the opening is on the inside of a plastic covering so pulling on it does jack shit. I then ask, can we cut the bonnet cable? Discussion ensued about relative pro's and con's and prices of getting locksmiths out. Decide to cut the bonnet wire. EASIER F*CKING SAID THAN DONE!!! It is one tough mofo of a wire to cut, especially when i have a street sweeper spec front bumper, it was hard to get to and then it took both our efforts to cut the f*cker (the wire that actually does anything is encased in strands of steel cable!!) Eventually cut our way through and the latch pops open!! yipee!! Pop bonnet, jump battery, alarm starts working again, opens the central locking and away i go. $60 for bonnet cable from Nisswreck in SA, but has yet to be installed. Anyone know if it will be a shitter of a job? /end story -

especially when it's going to be 35 degrees think that Royal Purple 5w30 will be up for a 35 degree track day? do we have to have our own helmet, or can we borrow one on the day? -
DT Panels expensive????? hahaha, your mates are on drugs $2K - $2.5k is dirt cheap for a respray and a $1-$1.5k i wouldn't even classify as a respray... more like just a "spray" If you're fussy, realistically you gotta spend upwards of $4k, more like $5k+ If you want a killer job, Mr Gloss is in Moorabbin, don't expect much change from $8k though. Spray painting is about a close a real world example of 'you get what you pay for' as you'll ever get. good luck! (my car was resprayed at DT Panels)
