i have no idea why i didn't think about this, but is there anything stopping us R34 owners with Xenon assembly's, but hacked due to compliance, from getting D2R kits and get an OEM light output????? I thought i wrote this idea off for some reason, but can't remember why....
-
dude that's mega dodge, first they've mislead you by saying something is legal when clearly it's not. And to compound matters, they are hacking away at factory parts. That's pretty serious if you ask me... 9.5 front and 10.5 rear.... like woh....

There are 2 TYPES of FACTORY headlight 'assembly'. One if factory halogen, one is factory Xenon. Xenon is defined by the embossed 'Xenon' on the front/horizontal part of the assembly. The two assemblies in general look quite different. The Xenon reflectors are designed for a D2R globe light pattern ONLY. In other words, an H1 Xenon globe will produce some glare and will not have the same quality as a D2R globe even though both will be HID lighting. You can get away with an aftermarket HID kit in the R34 Xenon assembly, but the light output isn't the prettiest. I wonder if the light output is better on the factory halogen assembly? Anyways, hope that clears it up for ya

Fs: 17" Avs Model 5's W/tyres
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
so you just want the rear rims and that's it? sorry mate, looking to sell as a whole set. Whether people take the free Neova's if up to them, but the rims and tyres are going together -
don't know why, maybe it's tradition, but round vents have been the staple for some of the top cars... cayman f430 gallardo murcielago round vents just seem to be the "thing" for a top shelf performance car why do only the top performance cars get this nice upwards tilt of the console area....sooooo much more user friendly the flat face crap we get in most cars

wow.... this had turned into quite a handy thread. alas... i'm a track newb, and really, won't be seeing much track time. The reason i started this thread was to find out what other camber kit options i had besides the whiteline products which are +1/-1 camber. I've got possibly over -2 camber on the front right, and a few workshops don't know why, it's just the way it is. I've got near enough to '$500 a corner' tyres on my 18's and i don't want to chew them, so i need a product that can get me back to even tyre wear. Judging from some of the responses in this thread, am i wrong to assume that 0 degree camber = even tyre wear? Is it actually not that logical? If the whiteline kit can get me even tyre wear (what i'm concerned about more over performance) i'll get that, it just seemed like there wasn't enough change in degree's for that kit cheers, and thanks for all the replies A good source of info if i ever get into a bit more track work daniel

ahh.... pretty fricken close yeah, tell me about it. Member of The National - usual suspects, some Bentley 4 doors and the Bentley Flying Phantom whatever, M's new and old, handful AMG's, quite a few 911's, but usually no more speccy than a 996 Turbo. Hummer's (not the piss weak H3's) A couple Masserati's Have seen a QLD, M3 CSL their one day, not many Fezza's... And the slew of commodore/falcon equivalents down there = 5 series and E Classes. Love the golf course car park, such a cool place to have a squiz at cars

rust around the rear middle brake light is fairly common for R34's, but it's not too much of a major issue for most. Just need a new seal around the light and a little bit of rust fixing. Yep, i had to change my coilpacks, mine died in the ass. Went with Splitfires.

About Servicing The Skyline (r34 In Particular)
SS8_Gohan replied to Kevin84's topic in General Automotive Discussion
yeah, i've been told to stay clear of ryco. Just got OEM Nissan, their filters are still cheap. I didn't think Castrol Edge was a true synthetic? Or it was from a lower grade base oil? Ie, not Group 4 or higher? Also running Mobil 1 0w40 in my 34, but will switch up to Redline next change. Figure oil is one of the most important things, especially for a turbo car, may as well go for the best. -
Why Have The Rear Lower Than The Front?
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
ok ok... i haven't heard of rake before so rake refers to the height of the front relative to the rear? So could you say a car has "positive" rake if the front or rear is higher? To the cars have a default rake from factory?? So it's not such a bad thing to have the rear a little lower compared to the front? I like this as i've got a real low front spoiler, but my rear guards have the biggest "gap" between them and the tyre. So in terms of wheel guard gap, i could even it out a bit, but actually have the rear lower. -
evil: i know you're not concerned about tyre wear on your R33, but are the insides of your front tyres being chopped out?? i looked at justjap.com and they have a lot of suspension stuff, lots of "adjustable arms" but have NFI what was for what as they've got no descriptions, or say what they do. Seemed to be around $300-$400

if you want to do it properly, then yes, wash after clay. But depends how fussy you want to be, can just hit the polish straight away if you really want. the QD/Lube used and clay do leave slight residue which can affect the polishing process. I would at least go for an alcohol wipe down, at least. 50:50 ethanol/water mix after the last polishing stage is handy if you can't be assed washing

whatever drugs you guys are on, i want some... the original concept is HIDEOUS from ANY angle!

-2.5 and the OUTSIDES are wearing??? what the??
-
that's what i was told, like a 4 degree change if need be... justjap, i'll check it out... ideally, i'd like to run a setting that gives me even tyre wear on the street, but something where i can dial in a good amount of neg camber for track days... for those with the SK kits, how have you found your tyre wear?
-
Hi guys, just wondering what my options are for front camber kits? I was just going to buy all the things from the SK group buy but the whiteline camber kits don't seem to be easily adjustable (or have a great range of adjustment). So just wondering what other camber options are there? i believer you can get adjustable arms or something? Like you pop the bonnet and can adjust the camber from the top? and there's also strut adjustment kits or something? I believe coilovers let you adjust camber?? just wondering what other options there are beside the whiteline kits with the yellow cirlce things and silver arms cheers, daniel

you don't start polishing before you clay, if the car requires claying. steps should be - Thorough wash (including tyres wells, etc) - Clay - Thorough wash - Polish (number of stages depends on condition of paint) *If you want to completely remove swirls/scratches, 3 Stage would prob be necessary - Finish polish - Another wash - Wax/Sealant I don't know of any wax that can be layered after only a few hours. They don't cure that fast, and IMO, it's just a waste of product and might giving you the impression you are getting multiple layers of wax. Not even the carnauba's/sealants used in combo with an accelerant like Zfx (Zaino), get curing times of a couple of hours. Not all cars require a clay first, it totally depends on the condition of the paint. I'm not sure how someone could do detailing as their chosen profession without using at least an RO (most pro's use a Rotary, in combo with Ro's or a machine that can operate in both modes, like some of the Festool machines)
