How To Get Rid Of Interior Squeaks And Noises?
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in General Maintenance
That's pretty true. I don't remember or wouldn't have noticed on our old 320i, 528i. But the 530i i believe is squeak free, the 335i has a little one that's popped up (and considering it's less than half a year old, that's not too good) but the suspension is much harder. The 318i has a few noises. i think the stiffness of the suspension plays a huge part. The stock R34 suspension i find is actually quite stiff, or the shocks are crap, or something, i dunno. -
Stone/splash Tray... Do I Need It?
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in General Automotive Discussion
isn't just trapping the air though, cos it's kinda shaped like this if you're looking at the car on the side. | | | | |______________ with the lower line being the tray, and the engine above it. The reason mine is dragging is because the cable ties i've used weren't enough to hold it there under hard acceleration, and high speeds, and it's pushed the tray down onto the ground. Given that, isn't it all it's doing is acting like a parachute of sorts?? -
How To Get Rid Of Interior Squeaks And Noises?
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in General Maintenance
^ so Porshe's come with felt tape from the factory? felt tape.... silicone stuff... foam deadening.... paper - some good things in here i've got one "creak" on my drivers door, in the cloth/fabric section (under the window) how would i get behind there? take the whole door trim off? i've NEVER dismantled any trim before, is it fairly easy to do? -

How To Get Rid Of Interior Squeaks And Noises?
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in General Maintenance
silicone spray seems to be a common idea. Will check it out thin bit of foam deadening also sounds good, not like it's going to add massive amounts of weight. -
cheers muchly Justin! i'm at work at the moment, but will email him (still have the old convo in gmail) when i get home. $350+ shipping is a little more than i'm willing to pay for 2 little parts like that!

hi, just wondering what you peeps out there do to get rid of any annoying interior squeaks and noises? I have a couple, and firstly, find them hard to pin point and second have no idea how to get rid of them. I have an R34 and the area around the top guage cluster has a bit of a creak to it, not sure where exactly. just wondering if anyone has any processes they use to elimante unwanted noises, or if anyone knows of any common causes for the squeaks, etc... cheers

hi guys'n'gals since i've changed front bars, i've had issues with my stone/splash/bash tray, whatever you want to call it. It no longer has the factory holes to clip to anymore, as i don't have the factory bumper, so.... just wondering do i actually need it? Is it really important to have that protection there to stop crap from bouncing up into the engine bay?? cos it seems like all it's doing is acting like a big air collector. I've had zip ties holding it to various bits, but the other day i gave it a bit of stick merging onto a freeway and pop, bang, scraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaape..... lovely. Tempted to chop it off, unless i really need it. cheers, chinny

anyone able to just quickly translate the above? cheers

Bought A Lemon R34gtt
SS8_Gohan replied to fabr34's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
i'll say it again, there have just been NO good stories to come from import yards, they bring in the crappiest, cheapests, cars possible, and put a few blings things on them to move 'em. bad luck mate, hopefully DRIFTT can point you in the right direct good luck! -
Rev210's 5min $5 Intake Pipe Mod For Your Stagea/skyline.
SS8_Gohan replied to rev210's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
but it doesn't have the rest of the pipe to flex, to help it suck close. There is metal sitting in the middle now, so from what rev210 is saying, it's not possible for it to close, but close the "give" isn't there in the pipe anymore, even IF the metal bit doesn't go the whole length... that make sense rev210? and yes indeed you've been around for a while -
sorry to dig this up, but would like some more help please! just want to ask "is it possible to make this part out of fibre glass, NOT carbon fibre? if so, could i get a price please?" it's a very $$ small CF part, so i'm going to try for a cheaper fibre glass, if he does it. cheers in advance for the help!! chinny

.... and then the R33 GT-R would look like a slow piece of shit compared to the 'kid in uniform'. Next comment? Mate, this ain't no PROTO anymore, this thing will be released in a few months, and available to buy a few months after that. The skyline legacy hasn't died, it has evolved and the GTR is no longer part of that line-up anymore. The skyline hasn't been culled, the V36 is coming out soon.

bitchin! and you got the car back!! extra bitchin! Honda Euro cut-off is freaky! my dad's 335i lights ain't that sharp, wondering if they are starting to purposefully unfocus them just a *touch*

Dyno'ing is USELESS!! it's a tuning tool not a power measurement tool. surely something like a cop sponsored dyno figure wouldn't be worth jack in court? (unless it's something stupid like 300rwkw's) every car has different drive train loss, every dyno is different, different days yield different results, blah blah blah... pathetic
-
Troy! you're still kicking around here i see! How goes the yellow beast? saw a R33 a few months back with what looks like the exact same shape bonnet bulge you see on the XR8's, but had "skyline" written down the sides of the bump. Actually looked kinda neat, same font... yellow bonnet, black stripes down the side of the bump and lettering in white, same font as the XR8's. this is a good thread, i was after some chop-chop action, might give a few of these ppl a buzz

ahh... 18" XD9's?? 8.5 front, 9.5 rear? was looking at those rims. They look similar to the volk ce28n's i think.
-
those rims CE28's?? do 18's raise the car a little? relative to riding on 17's? i've got 110mm clearance... have to be very careful. Angled attack is my friend helps to have a plastic injected moulded bar, as opposed to fibreglass. Mine would definitely have cracked by now. got flex?

sorry Al, i think the old ones don't have anything on this design. They look cheap, the same style you see on Lancers with the red in between the spokes, looks nasty with that smooth curved surface. name another rim you like in that style? you won't be able to. All the other 'favourite' rims are in "pieces". GT4's, the workmeisters, TE-37's, CE28's, etc, etc, they all have the "step", that bevelled kinda step... anyways, not here to debate rim styles, thanks for your post i guess... Perhaps $1800 is a bit high, although these aren't cheap rims, nor do they have cheap rubber. I don't think you can just blanket say, for 17's is too much. It depends on the rims and rubber. Top Jap 17" rims can easily go for $2.5k with good rubber (2nd hand, yahoo auctions). And considering these tyres go for about $300 a corner, and they are genuine top-shelf Jap brand rims, it's unfair to compare them to some ROH/Tempe rim price. http://bt-revolution.com/AVS%205.htm $2799 for a set. JUST rims http://www.yokohamatire.jp/yrc/japan/wheel...del5/index.html yes, they are 18's or possible 19's, but it's the style to get a better idea. I'm sorry, but the older model 5's have nothing on this version So you're looking $2.8K for rims, NEW, plus about $1.2K+ for tyres, NEW, pushing $4000 for this set BRAND NEW. I know my rims and tyres aren't brand new, but just want to let people know exactly what's here. That's all.
