Twin Turbo Straight Six Cylinder Engine
SS8_Gohan replied to Forged's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i hope you're not referring to the new twin-turbo BMW straight 6? because, my goodness, that is the most non-sensical statement ever! Not a fantastic engine? This thing has NO LAG! If no one told you it had 2 hairdryers hanging off it, you would never know! This car is AS quick as the current M3, yet it has 30 kw's less than it! How can that not be a fantastic engine???? Such a narrow minded way to look at it by saying only 75kw's/litre. This engine DESTORYS my NEORB25, and mines got about 82kw's/litre. What is with this poliferation of narrow mindedness!!!! The S2000 engine is USELESS unless revved. Amazing engineering to get that much power out of sooo little, but you have to rev its tit's off to do it. kw's/litre is not the be all and end all! So what is the 335i has only 225kw's, it has NO lag and despite being under powered compared to the current M3, it's just as quick! What does that tell you? The engine is more usable, more flexible, more balanced. By your reasoning, you can throw some MASSIVE f*ck off turbo on, get a 500kw engine (with supporting mods) for say, 3 litres, and claim to have a brilliant engine just because it had 166kw's/litre. It would be USELESS before say 5000rpm. Don't be so narrow minded. What the hell does seeing blue prints have to do with anything? Have you ever even driven one? There are significant technological features used in this engine, that hasn't been seen in mass production before. And NO ONE has made such a responsive turbo engine before either. For goodness sake, they've got the sequential setup down pat, if that's not impressive, then i don't know what is. These awards are obviously NOT politically motivated. The best engines have won these awards each year on their own MERRITS! BMW's V10, first in a mass produced car, the M3 engine, 256kw's out of 3.2 litres, no turbo. Then they got 265kw's out it! Now the 335i engine which is significant step forward in forced induction engines. More than happy to hear what YOU think should have one all these past years? Oh, i should mention i drive a slightly modded R34, and my dad drives a 3 month old BMW 335i... i have driven both, have you? -
if you're in melb, DT Panels in springvale could do it for a reasonable price. I got my R34 resprayed there. Bout $300-$400, so yeah, what everyone else says. How come the paint is flaking? resprayed before?

i think mongkok is one word.. i missed all the performance shops last time i was there. But i shopped up an absolute storm clothes wise though!! The shopping is insane over there! If you find yourself in SoHo, 'Enoteca' is an amazing place to eat, if you're after some european food. I loved Repulse Bay too... HK is rad!

13yr Old Break Into My Skyline
SS8_Gohan replied to teazn_r33's topic in General Automotive Discussion
so you saying it wouldn't start? because if it starts, what's stopping them from stealing it? -
that's cool mate, i was exactly the same, worrying about which oil to put, concerned about this and that. But some of guys in this thread REALLY know their oils. Mobil 1 is a good starting point, at a reasonable price and having 0w40 is fine. Then you can go German Castrol, Redline, Motul after that if you're keen. i know exactly what it's like to be paranoid bout the car, especially with the oils. I also did my gearbox and diff at the same time, so i was 3 times as paranoid! haha Maybe just PM Trex101 or khunjeng with your EXACT concerns and worries, and grab their opinion

ok checked JMS, and like a few people have said they have the exact same rims, they are NOT the same. There were TWO versions of this rim, the older being a power coated white Model 5, which IMO, doesn't look as good, and is a fair bit older. Please don't compare TWO different rims. i got more pics not as much tread now, as shown in these pics JMS have the OLDER model 5's.

yeah, you've asked quite a few times I've answered with Mobil 1 a few times as well 0w40 in my car, took a little less than 5 litres i think. As i've said before, RB lifters are fairly noisy anyway, but the Mobil 1 did quiet them down a little, for me. NEO R34, don't know if that makes a difference. i can't say anymore than what i've already said. I've got 0w40 in my car, and yes it made the lifter less noisy. can't answer your question any more straight forward than that. And if people like Trex101 are telling you it's fine, that it's 100% cool. They're the sorts of people in this thread that i made my oil choices from. Trex101 and khunjeng, etc...
-
i would say it's fine wouldn't trust an import odometre though...
-
Dont' rule out the German Castrol Trent (not available here, so you're still correct to an extent ) probably rubbish, i'm running 0w40 in my R34. Unless you're doing some SERIOUS track work, pressue will be fine

-
is it possible to tune a car with a stock ECU? do they do general check-ups or are they just performance/modifcation orientated??

don't want to be picky, but is it possible to remove the 'Topis Subscription Reply....' in the subject? if it's anything more than an easy fix, probably don't worry about it -

bingo!!! THANKS!!!!!!!! but it still has the annoying 'Topic Subscription Reply...' infront of everything, possible to remove that? -
i think SK is a little swamped with something at the moment. It's been 2 weeks since i've paid, so i'll give it a little longer and then PM to find out the g-o... don't want to hassle so how you finding the car??? Have you got the FULL kit? the rear spoiler giving you have extra down force yet??
-
not sure on tyres sizes... the rears are fine. GTTR34 has/had 18 x 10's on his, so 18 x 9.5's are fine on the rear. But it seems you can run 18x9.5 up front... will pop over to gtr.co.uk and check my pm's. EDIT: http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/54681-ne...kit-r34gtt.html 265's all around??????
