i know some guys had some cameras, so if you've got any pics or videos, do share adz, get off your lazy ass and post your videos! I'm keen to see you're middle run on the skid pan, you know, you had your little warm up, then i believe you had a near flawless middle run?

i know Shannos has an extreme low use policy, which seems like would be what you're after. I *think* Vigil has something as well. Should be cheaper than J.C., you can pay by the month, and no extra cost. And your repair options are infinitely better. worth a bit extra
-
might suit you as Shannons has like a "usage" feature. I'm on limited usage as i don't drive the car every day, but there is an extreme limited use policy, might be good for you. Vigil has something similar i think. Ryno is no go as you have to have owned a hi-performance car before. That's the first time i've ever heard something like that, but it does make sense.

$300 sounds ok, Vu (dt panels) can sorta ya out.

How Accurate Is The R34 Factory Boost Guage?
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
ooo, ullo govna! -
cheers Kaz yeah i have written Just Cars off. the piece of mind you get with Shannons far outweights the $500, but it did beg the question if i could get a cheaper premium though. I rang Vigil, who are very similar to Shannons, agreed value, lifetime guarantee, choice of repairer, etc... it was about $1380. That's the the thing, i'm not too keen on signing up with someone if no-one has claimed before. Shannons i have no dramas what-so-ever, but some of these newer companies, i'm a little more hesistant. I gave famous a call, but they tried to call back at a bad time, so i'll see how they go as well.

How Accurate Is The R34 Factory Boost Guage?
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
yeah, keen on seeing any pics of someone replacing the stock guages with defit, etc... but in the factory position. I think that would be the best place for them, although i am a bit of a sucker to the a-pillar guages Is that illegal by the way? a-pillar mount? -
isn't saturday the 14th?

not sure i'd be advertising where my R34 GTR would be located for a given period, i know it's not exact... but yeah, maybe that's just me... main thing is to keep an eye out for school zones, during school times, when the speed drops to 40. Can be a 70/80 speed zone, but will drop to 40 if it's the right time.

didn't even know your car was on the road andru, i thought it was getting custom this, custom that... got any pics of it? has it had all the work done to it yet?

R34 Gtr Replica Rear Spoiler
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
damn it! i thought that link i found was in GBP! (pounds) it's in US dollars! $130 + $100 shipping, that's about $300 AUD that's quite cheap... top blade isn't CF like satanics one though... CF would be much cooler. I'm a little short on the $$ at the mo, so still have a bit more time to figure this out... i just thought the struts looked a little different to standard, but after finding some pics of a real one, they do seem the same. Might just be the angle they're taken on. damn it, that spoiler is sooo much cheaper than i thought. Which is a good thing, but makes the decision a bit harder. how keen are you Forged? -

GIO = rip off $3386.21 R34 GTT, 23, clean record it's like the early days of Just Cars - although just cars are stupidly cheap now, just that the excess's and choice of repairer options are shit

I found a good cheap boost controller for $22!!!
SS8_Gohan replied to CEF11E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
you'll need a boost guage, or trust the factory one if you dare it removes the two-stage boost, so it's the level you set all the time you won't know what psi until you start booting the car and see what your guage is 10psi should be fine for a stock 33 don't worry if yours doesn't have the hole, it'll be fine small turns of the screw = big difference in PSI, just be very small in your adjustments. all the way out is less boost yes ppl's?? -
sup vic ppls, apparently someone on the forums was/is a good contact for shannon's insurance? I'm with shannons at the moment, but i rang just cars for a laugh, and they ended up being $500 cheaper. I know the Shannons policy is better, but $500 is a big difference. i'm up for renewal, and just wondering if i could possibly speak to this contact. I know some people here have gone through this person. A vic member has pointed me in a direction for someone to pm, but i've had no response. cheers, daniel

SS8_Gohan replied to CEF11E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
well i reckon that's a place to start, regarding the differences between the two controllers. orignal is good quality, your knock off item is shit. don't go bagging out the original when you've bought a piece of shit knock-off. pretty damn simple if you ask me -

there are knock off's of this item -
are you sure 2 inches out? i was pm'ing someone from gtr.co.uk running 18 x 9.5 +30 all around on his gtt, perfect at the back, very minimal rubbing up front. No flared guards, no lipping. can't see 9" up front sticking out 2" then? all i was getting at is that they might not be the perfect fit, but they still might fit ok. You don't HAVE to go with THE perfect offset. Just thought at least you would try the rims first on the car, if you've gone to all the trouble to buy them in the first place.

we are in a boat, and it's the same -
from factory? BMW Audi Mercedes Nissan (new 350z) Honda Lexus Lambo Ferrari Porsche Holden (on the top of the line, new models, only took about 500 years for them to catch up) Aston Martin.. Mazda RX8 etc, etc... you get the idea. It's more a luxury item at this stage. Volvo have reflector Xenons, like the R34's. And i think Lexus's first Xenons were done in reflector assemblies as well. Now-a-days, very FEW manufactures make Xenons which DON'T use projectors. Lots of manufacturers use and have used for a while, projectors, it's just that some cars get Xenon globes in the projectors as oppose to normal halogens. A lot of cars on the road have projectors, but aren't Xenon. But if you want to do a retro-fit, you don't have to buy spare parts from a car manufacture. Hella/Bosch, etc, make projectors. And i would imagine most car companies would use projectors made by those big companies. the HIDplanet forums are really the BEST place to check up on all this.
-
the thing is, there isn't really another direction that's all Without retro fitting projectors. So OEM or projectors. They're the good options. Look, to be honest, if you're just doing 99% city driving, and you're willing to point your headlighs down a little, you could get away with an a/m HID kit. They're not the best option, but for just city driving you'll be ok. Seriously, a lot of ppl these days are just driving with the foggies on and when you think about the amount of street lighting, and lights from other cars, you can get away with it. Some people don't really care for the finer details of this all, fair enough, that's cool. Despite being glary, it's hard to argue that they don't look pretty shmick. And as with most modifications to our cars, there is some law, somewhere, saying not to do it. If you're not fussed, go for it. As OEM for R34 is easily $850+, more the $900's. I've been looking at the yahoo auctions quite closely, and you just don't seem to be able to land anything for less than $850. You can do the retro fit if you're handy with those sorts of things. But you'll still have to buy some projectors, and then buy a HID kit, with the D2r types globes, etc. Still looking at roughly $500 for those parts, and you still have to put it together. So yeah, choice is yours really. This issue comes up more with R34 Xenon owners, as our healight assemblies were designed for another bulb. Now, i'm not saying R33 and R32 lighting is brilliant, but at least everything is as it should be. cheers, daniel
