  1. yeah, or find a chef/restaurant who can let you use some old big oil drums, that's what joeyjoejeo did i have not see Caltex be anything other than E70 (except once saw some mid 60's in the dead of winter, but might have been some very very small amounts of 98 left, was the first time i switched), they did not go to a summer mix. Don't know why. United back in the day (before qld/vic floods) went into the 90's on occasion, other people have reported high 70's in nsw since United launched E85 again. Personally i've only see little variance down here in Melbourne, between 82-85% (i've just tried my 3rd United station, need to get the laptop out, but so far there hasn't been any major differences between stations). That's fine for a normal tune, there's no real danger there. There isn't really a huge amount of concern between E70 and E85 either if it's on a conservative tune. Not ideal for a full-on track day, but just getting around town will be fine. as for why not water meth? i'm only speaking for myself, but i changed predominantly for environmental reasons.
  2. any ethanol will vary, united or Caltex - but really, if you want the most stable one... you're probably better off with Caltex E-Flex, it was bang on E70 for a long time, even during summer my sensor never read more than 70 (or less) United E85 in comparison will vary more than Caltex -
  3. dude... who are accessing/posting on SAU? you've got html all over your post........ (hmm... new t-shirt slogan for the geeks?)
  4. Dan, where did you get the ID"s from? plenty of people sell bog standard bosch ones as ID's
  5. if it's carbon pricing related, do share... wouldn't want Stao to be misinformed would we , already had a few common myths trotted out in this thread already is anything else happening on the variable vane front Stao? or is that on the back-burner at this stage?
  6. i'll add in what i can, although the people above are immensely more knowledgeable, so take heed off above. i'm running something very similar to what you're talking. N1 block, 2530's, Nismo Plenum, Tomei Xpreme manifolds, ID1000's, Midori dumps, Midori front pipe, Midori Ti catback, Nismo in-tank pump and flex fuel (i'm still claiming first in Oz damnit! hahah ) - although using a G4 not Haltech. Not forged internals as far as i know, but they have been WPI processed, JGTC is meant to swear by it and so do others in $$ motorsport... it be interesting to see what you can get away with with stock'ish parts that are WPI processed... anyway... from my limited understanding with the Nismo plenum is that you will lose a little up top, gain a little in the mid-range but it's more even flow and i think was perhaps an attempt to sort out #6 leaning out a bit. That's how i understood the Nismo to be developed for. Now, perhaps this is important in high $ time attack stuff, but for a predominantly street car, the stock plenum does the job from many an account. This setup has worked out to be 400rwkw on 85% ethanol at 21psi. I don't have top-end HP cams, (what are you planning on running by the way?) but with some 260'ish cams, with say 24psi or so, 420-430rwkw i reckon will be where you'll end up. Of course lots of tuners love winding in the boost with E85, so 450 perhaps? We don't want to chance the internals, so 21 is where we'll be (until i can get some more info on the WPI dealio) also my fueling setup is very light on compared to others, but we have not found any problems thus far. As you can see, i've only got ID1000's and a drop-in Nismo. Will you be doing much motorsport? Has your tuner done a flex fuel setup before?
  7. ? some of the Haltech ecu's are great pieces of kit, not much in between the directly comparable Haltechs and Links
  8. i thought we were comparing the wire-in ECU's? if so, both do low impedance injectors, so to the OP, no there is no difference in that regard. And i don't think e-throttle is going to be an issue for you, but i haven't checked if the xtreme can handle e-throttle.
  9. G4 Xtreme has knock control, 2 inputs for it i think.
  10. where are the Vipec's manufactured then?
  11. i'm talking about the blonde girl in the back-row on the non-hoon side... just wondering if it was usual rubbish TV producing to put her there (in the context of having someone in the "forum" who was there for no other reason than aesthetics)... then again, we didn't hear from a lot of people so maybe she was there legitimately.
  12. there was another pretty girl on the Ash's side... just curious was she there as an involved party, ie lost a friend/relative etc - or was there some crowd filling going on... "for TV" purposes?
  13. once again, for prosperity from Link website my emphasis brand, not company. Vipec will forever be a rebadged Link. Period. i looked at the Xtreme but the wiring job was going to be the main hurdle, but i do believe that NZEFI or someone over there has made up a harness of some sorts, still a bit of wiring to do, but a lot of the work done.
  14. hahahaha, just like a thought, it was rowdy roddy peeper styles alright! i think this should just about do it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAe3FpLGvBY&feature=related
  15. it's my secret plan to get people onto flex capable ecu's, in the hope they'll go flex, then they'll need ethanol. The more ethanol is needed, the more demand goes up. The more demand goes up, the more outlets will be available for............................................... me!!!!!!!! mauahaha, i mean... for everyone
  16. which reminds me, i still have my Nismo AFM's ... should probably get around to selling those or you could go MAP sensor - do the numbers on selling AFM's and Power FC, you might find the Link G4(you're Unigroup so i'm going Link) is not much extra at the end of the day
  17. ahhh. you've got a FFP, nope my had the standard cross-over job. what plenum you running?
  18. yep, stock is fine for that ran about 20psi on my GT-T with E85, 280-290rwkw - just bolt-ons, nothing special
  19. for what you're running, stock Bov is fine and the atmo might just be causing headaches for no reason. If you want the noise, fair enough, but there's no actual need for it.
  20. still got the stock bov?
  21. in comparison to a 2.8, how would 10.7:1 CR go? still a long way off what you'd get with a 2.8 in terms of response? maybe a good cheap option would be, 2.6, N/A Neo head keeping VCT, high comp and running E85 - surely that would be competition for a 2.8 stroker?
  22. aahhh stock turbos
