i've actually dealt with aaron before in a very round-a-bout way... but never used the website enquiry form before... i might have put in wrong email address... i'll check my mail when i get home. are you going to let the cat out of the bag abscent? or are we waiting for pics?
-
was Aaaron (rampant.net.au) quick in responding to your enquiry? I've yet to hear back... is that normal? i'm not too concerned, because i know some of these car places are uber busy... but i'm thinking i might not have put down the correct email address? and i think i read that they would try to respond within 24 hours?

First Big Service, Here's My Proposed List Of Goodies...
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in General Maintenance
ok, googled... found a lot of bad stuff bout ryco... basically people cutting them open and comparing to other brands. I'll prob just go genuine Nissan for a few extra bucks. $10-$15 i was finding at justjap.com for various filters. Motul is available at recpo and autobarn... which is strange because my closest autobarn doesn't have it. Oh well, at least i know some big places have it. I take it Castrol SAF-XA is different to Syntrax? Yes, have standard air box. Coolant... right... didn't think about that. Thanks hehe, now... is coolant, coolant? or is it like oils as well? -
hey mate... as you can see from my edited post i figured it out, eventually. i thought it was CLUB, not LUB, doh!
-
anyone having troubles with the performanceclub.com email? i keep getting bounce backs... EDIT: so don't mind me.... it's performance LUB.com, i'm like, why the fudge is [email protected] not working!! whoops!

Ok, it is time... well, it's actually overdue. 11K's km extra put on the clock (since importing) and it's time for a nice big old service (checked the oils/filters bout 3K's km in and looked fine, sparkies and coilpacks done quite early after car landed) anywho... with some huge help from "khunjeng" i have been recommended the following... Engine Oil - Redline 10w40, if not... - Motul 300V series, if not... - Mobil 1 0w40 (lower if possible) Gearbox Oil - Redline Shockproof lightweight Diff Oil - Castrol Syntrax 75w90 (does series 1 R34 have a helical or viscous LSD?) Oil Filter - OEM Nissan - any other thoughts on this one? Fuel Filter - Paper filter? Air Filter - Paper filter? Oh, and i heard that Ryco make shite products, and to stay clear of them? Ok, question time... Mainly filters... - Can OEM Nissan oil filters be bought anywhere besides nissan? - What other oil filters do the job? - Air and fuel filters? Which ones for these? I don't have big power, got a full 3" exhaust on in the next week or so, but still, car will be lightly modded. How many litres do i need for... -engine? -gearbox? -diff? I'd love to go with the best stuff, but my goodness Redline is expensive!! Is is really worth the extra $? Where bouts could i pick up Motul oil? cheers! daniel

got pics? what type are they? is it just one point of light? i'm after ones like 12 or 16, because otherwise a pin-point bit of lights look shite. the pic posted looks ok

a few things if i may... never, repeat, never use the brush at the car washes. Giving it a quick blast with some water is NOT going to remove all the particles in the brush, and won't necessarily remove all the stones and shit either. Good luck picking your way through each bristle and cleaning the thing. who the hell leaves their sponges lying around the garage floor collecting glass, stones, sticks, crap anyway? that's a pretty poor comparison to the car wash brash. Using your own sponge/mitt is a MILLION times safer than using an item multiple other people have used, for MANY different purposes. Would you use your sponge on your wheels, and then clean the roof of your car? The car wash brushes are used EVERYWHERE! Lasers washes, also not completely safe... "Laserwashes use high pressure (sometimes upto 800psi) to spray chemical and water onto the exterior surfaces to clean your vehicle. I raise Three issues that concern me with this process and others at Self-Serve Car Washes: 1. After Washing the car, is it washed by Hand using Mitts etc. If not, I fail to see how the car is properly cleaned and if, after the process, it is dried by chamois or drying towel the dirt left behind is being pushed into the surface creating swirls. I guess this is OK for the fleet car but not for the pride & joy of most enthusiasts on this forum. 2. 800 psi is very, very high pressure. If particles in the water happen to come through the jets, this can cause some major damage. I am not assuming that this will happen though. Each self-serve carwash has different water filtration systems and the mean average particle filtration will determine whether or not the process is safe. 3. The quality of the chemicals. There are so many different self-serve cetres and so many of them use the cheapest, lowest grade soaps & degreasers. Many of them use caustic wheel cleaners etc. and some chemical stays in the line as you switch over from wheel cleaner to soap and rinse etc. You have to be very careful not to use any caustic chemicals anywhere on your car especially on your painted surfaces." Bottom line. BRING YOUR OWN SPONGES/MITTS TO THE CAR WASH!! It's dead easy. My process requires $3. $1 - High pressure rinse #1(make sure the water runs for a little bit to clear the lines as much as possible) - i have a spray bottle of my wash solution brough with me, i'll spray the car with it. Holds the dirt in suspension. $2 - High pressure rinse #2 - spray wash solution onto microfibre mitt, wash car from top down. NO OVERLAPPING STROKES. Flip mitt over half way. $3 - High pressure rinse #3 I use a waffle weave drying towel, but any microfibre towel would be fine. Apply wax STRAIGHT AWAY if needed. If you wait till you get home, you've already picked up stuff on the car, dirt, dust, etc... which will further scratch the car on application. When the car is dry, and not too hot (important for some waxes) apply wax. Prep for waxes is super important. Just like prep for a respray. cheers, daniel degreaser = meant for wheels, tyres, wheel arches, engine bay, etc. NOT PAINT.

Opinions Of R34 Gtr Prices
SS8_Gohan replied to NISMO's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
oh well, even if the price hasn't come down... other factors have made them a little more attainable... maybe in a few years... i'll upgrade to my car's bigger brother -
by using the brush at the car washes, you ARE letting randoms wash your car.... reason being, random people have used the brush previously, picking up who knows what in the brush and leaving it for you when you wash your car. degreaser? as in, it's meant for wheels, and wheel arches? not something over the whole car yes? don't use the car washes brush. Just bring a sponge, mitt, with you. sammus, what do you use to actually wash the car? how do you dry it?
-
what time does it start? i start work at 1:30pm on sunday's... and what are the suburbs around brooklyn? have no idea where that is... besides the new york suburb...
-
^ please, please don't tell me you use the broom to wash your car mate? or the soapy spray stuff? that just eats paint... very harsh chemicals. Should just use the rinse spray, and let it spray out for a few seconds first to clear the system, then start rinsing the car. i'm fully getting into this detailing thing, i have micro fibre this, micro fibre that... safe washing methods. My detailer told me about it all. It's a friggen art form! pays off on a black car if you get it right dude, sorry to see the state of your front bar like that! really, it's simple and cheap to wash your own car ($3 for 3 x 1:45min high pressure rinse). Just bring a few things yourself to the car wash. Just use the high pressue rinse (just water) and bring the rest yourself. Don't have to worry bout some noob destroying your paint with swirl marks and sponges used to clean wheels, on your panels.

Opinions Of R34 Gtr Prices
SS8_Gohan replied to NISMO's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
when's the next import duty % drop? it's interesting though, because the 34 GTR's coming through on the prestige and j-spec lists seemed to be significantly cheaper than when i was looking for my GT-T in 2004, and was keeping a close eye on anything R34 have the R34 GTR prices really not dropped "in Japan" the last 3-4 years? -

R34 Oem Xenon Light Cutoff?
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
ok... why the hell are the aftermarket HID's burning (or seems to be) the plastic covering of my lights??? , certainly discolouring it.. now i know non-Xenon assembly's can't handle the heat of a HID globe, but mine are factor Xenon assembly's. Why the hell does the cover look like it's melting? (reflectors are fine, no marking on the inside) -
don't reckon that Bee-R colour would suit your car anyway...

SS8_Gohan replied to Rekin's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
how much weight are we talking here?. ahhh so that's why my r34 turns off the a/c on it's own... thought it was on the blink with it turning on and off... -
when the car stutters does it... a) sound like a WRX? b) the TCS OFF + SLIP + and engine check light all come on? if yes, coil packs. Very, very common problem with the R34's. A few options to fix.
