  1. how'd u manage to keep ur OEM lights? what's the cut-off like? Is it nice and sharp?
  2. in another words, not accurate... as my car is as stock as a rock in terms of performance mods
  3. Kaixen kit, made in Korea. was led to believe that this kit was not cheapo, it was of high quality. Well there you go, i couldn't get the globe to sit right, when i clamped it into place, it would always shift the globe so it pointed up a bit (you can see from the pic) I wondered if this would matter... I rang a place in sydney that does the conversions for compliance, and there are about 3 ways of doing it. my way, get 4dr halogen assembly's or bend the reflectors, something like that.. so i was wondering if mine "assembly" had been altered, bent/cut, etc... yes, was converted. But i think it was done in the least "destructive" way.. fixing mechanism... that's the one... can't get the globe to sit nice when i clamp it in. i've asked OEM R34 owners and they said the lightout output is nothing special anyway, still quite low and poor throw, so i don't even know if the OEM lights have a nice cut-off like the honda euro ones... i might try fiddling with the base of the globe, see if i can find some position that will help with the light.
  4. went to nissan, 1) they don't sell nor can get in OEM Nissan Xenon globes - 2) they showed me two adjustment screws/cogs - 1 left/right, 1 for up/down (i'm not convinced my up/down works) 3) they said putting in Nissan globes wouldn't make a difference to light cutoff, they said if you've got Xenon globes in there, you've got Xenon globes in there. i'm not convinced they knew much anyway... is this what ppl's R34 Xenon headlights look like on the inside? what is the cut-off like for OEM Xenon's anyway? is it as good as say the Honda Euro lights? greg, you got the car mate!! PICSORBAN!!! i wanna see my rims

  6. ^ i guess that sounds right too, except for the fact that i thought the top of the guage was 1 bar, ie 14psi? and from what i've read, 14psi on a stock 34 turbo is a recipe for disaster...
  7. my guage reads a touch over the 3/4 on full boost.... and if they run 7psi stock (which mine is) - does this mean that the guage is innacurate?
  8. ^ they are OEM Xenon headlight assembly's... i assumed that if i put Xenon globes back in assemblys that were DESIGNED for them, it would be ok... i can't see how putting in a pair of Nissan Xenon globes would be any different. This is not a dodgy HID kit going into a set of headlights not designed for them.
  9. i might ring the mob in sydney who do the conversions, pick their brains. might take it down to a nissan dealer, see if they know anything about adjusting the angle. Says i can got to a dealer in my manual

    Should I Buy?

can't go more than 2" more than standard. ie, R33, no more than 18"'s (16 standard) R34, no more than 19"s (17 standard)
  11. J-Spec is a very good melbourne based importer. www.j-spec.com.au i think is the website. Got my R34 through them. yeah, you could get a nice conditioned turbo, coupe for $27-$28 on the road these days. Speak to the J-Spec boys, they should let you look at the 34's coming in the auctions for a week or so. Join their mailing list too as there are quite a few coming through on that. and see my signature as well cheers oh yeah, 34's are rad
  12. so FPV Typhoon rims would fit? The black rims are quite tasty
  13. Hi, finally put in the HID kit into my R34, 8500k, thought was going to be stupidly blue but was pleasantly surprised, was actually ok. But the light is still nothing special though, quite disappointed actually, and i think my headlights are pointing too far down. I've got the switch in the car that tilts the lights up and down, it does work, and i've got it as high as it will go but the light is still very low (angle). Is there are a screw or something to manually life the anlge of light on 34 headlights? cheers, daniel EDIT: sorry for the double thread, but going away for the weekend, country way and want to see if i can sort out the light issues before then.
  14. but i have the OEM Xenon assembly (see my sig pic), i thought it would be ok if put some Xenon's back in... it's hard to tell until i raise them up a bit i reckon.. i have heard retro fitting HID kits doesn't work, but i thought it would be different as mine were factory Xenon just replaced with halogen. I know 8500k refers to colour, but was just worried bout the blueness, it's actually not as bad as i thought (or seen) - i can't see how OEM R34 Xenons would make any difference to the light cut-off/shape? it's just a different bulb yeah?
  15. what we looking at for a couple of seats? $??
  16. i found 1 screw which is running vertically behind the assembly, which then runs into this white plastic cog setup, i turned that but didn't do anything to the light angle. When i had the head lights i did find another similar thing, but didn't have a philips head, it's was a hexagon shaped head but quite small, like maybe 5mm across?? when i was turning the screw one, it just started clicking on me after a bit too, like it was trying to do something, but it just wasn't happening. also, HOW would it go up or down? It's bolted to the car in 4 different places... i can't really see it moving much... man, compliance has seriously made the headlights just down right dangerous. so much for adhering to ADR's due to "safetey" reasons... what a load of bollocks

  18. of course it matters!!! the red tape required to get these things coming through J-Spec etc, is enourmous! And then, the amount of workshops with approval for them will be next to nothing, and you can bet it won't be $2500 for compliance... who says none of us will be able to afford one? there are already ppl from this forum who are on waiting lists for them. There are ppl on this forum who own $100K+ R34 GTR's... So what if we all don't go out and buy one next year, at least they'll be available, and that means "second hand"... did you buy your R34 in 1998 or 1999, or whatever year it was made?
  19. i shift around 2800 to 3000, with a little slightly hard acceleration sometimes, entering freeways, etc... and get about 12.5 - 13L/ 100km's from my 34 GT-T (manual, coupe) i thought i shifted quite early, but i'm trying to shift at 2K and see if that makes any noticable difference on consumption. SydneyKid reckons that the Shell 100 RON petrol (with ethanol) is even better than Ultimate... might give that a go. Although, i don't think he claimed it was any better economy though.
  20. my iridiums were like $78 i think? ngk.. do you mean buying multiple sets of them ash?
  21. true, it's a small market for these types of cars... but how many 911's do you see floating around? they're a dime a dozen... but these cars don't NEED to be sold in falcon/commodore type numbers... they're not meant to be a mass model. I was thinking it will be more M3 money, $155K - $170k, if they can keep it say between $150k - $180K, i reckon they'll do VERY well. There has been a lot more of a shift towards performance cars, i think, in terms of marketing and advertising. And if you have a $170K GTR that is the same level, if not better, than a 997 Turbo... you'd be laughing.
  22. go look in the locked thread about racing with SAU stickers on, Adz explained how to do it in there, seemed a little more involved than your normal stickers, but straight forward at the same time...
