Dotars Delays?
SS8_Gohan replied to djr81's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
nouvo33: is your car a test car? or has your workshop been compiling skylines already? do you remember anything about Discussion Items or Inspection Days, anything like that? Just wondering if you're just waiting on a plate normally, as in, a workshop that is already up and running as a RAW. 2 weeks since 2nd round of D.i. answers were submitted to canberra, no change on the website -
Is the full kit around $2370, did i add that up right? Ok, Chris said... Handling Pack: (R33 but fits R34) - BNF24Z (Blades) - BNR11Z - KCA331 (Front castor) - KCA347 (rear camber) Rear pineapples: (i think he was referring to Whiteline?) - $120 King Springs: - kDFL-101 - KDRL-615P Bilstein Shocks: (Bilstein Sport) ----------------------- Your kit has the Front Camber and Subframe Alignment, which the handling pack doesn't have standard. But i would tend to think they are quite important parts of the kit. Don't see a need for pineapples? What's the supply like of the other parts? Just wondering whether i might get some Bilsteins whilst they're still available, and once saved up a little more, grab the rest of the kit? Is it an option to get the bilsteins on their own? cheers, daniel

hey y'all I'm getting a front bar sent down from Sydney (to Melbourne) and have got a rough quote of $150 (not sure who big the box will be around the bumper) Just wondering if anyone else has had front/rear bumpers sent interstate? Or know of some good transport companies for this sort of thing? cheers, daniel EDIT: Any prices that you might remember would be great too

finally got around to giving the car a jump start the other night... man, what a difference. Running smooth as silk, could barely hear it with all windows up and just pulled over at the side of the road... i haven't driven it for ages, like months, but i thought the power delivery was a bit more linear, seemed a little more responsive... but couldn't really drive it much, only like 20 mins... but it was always develop a problem previously if i drove it for that long so i'm 99% the coil packs have solved the problem i was having. thanks again Greg

jerry rigged something up... not perfect, but hopefully carry me through the last weeks of uni. would have liked the speed of the SATA.... but i can't be picky in a siuation like this... could a mod delete this please?

i know this is a long shot, but does anyone have a spare SATA Hard Drive they're not using at the moment? My one has some physical errors and just keepings f*cking up like nothing else... trying to use just a normal IDE Hard Drive but my mobo is a piece of shit and over complicated and will refuse to acknowledge the hard drive is there. I've googled the problem and seems a lot of ppl have had the same problem with the Gigabyte GA-81915P Duo Pro, couldn't find an answer... But i do know that it runs fine when there is a SATA HDD connected... i need it for like 2 weeks, i have major projects due with some serious shit (3D, etc) so this is a like a desperate plea type situation... don't quite have the cash at the moment for a new one, plus i don't need the space either. Got about 450gb of space in hard drives... and it would just be a waste of money. cheers, daniel

I Don't Know What These Are..
SS8_Gohan replied to Silver_R34_GT-T's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I believe they are compulsory in Jap cars in case they break down on a bullet train track. Crack a flare and so it gives time for the train to slow down. The speed they go, they need a bit of time... or if it's not breaking down on a track, it might be if you see the bullet train track is obstructed, you need to light your flare... i think that's why jap cars have to have them... -

bump, PRICE DROP, NOW $1900 sooo far under the value of this guitar, it's not funny. A bit of an insult really to the quality, but i gotta sell it. -
slightly off topic, but what were the fastest lap times for the GTR's? during the shootout?
-
as far as i know, it's the same as doing it from japan. go to www.j-spec.com.au or www.prestigemotorsport.com.au - both have import calculators. Instread of the yen FOB price, just use the cost of the car at the moment in AUD. budget roughly $4000 for Evo compliance? not 100% on that. will need a set of factory rims i think too. Add that to the cost.

Dotars Delays?
SS8_Gohan replied to djr81's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
oh man.... do i know what you guys are going through... i too have my car being used as a test car for a workshop. here's a little run down... - Car purchased Japan car yard, late May 2004 - Landed Brisbane late July - Complications, storage required, - Arrives workshop mid/late August - Workshop needed to do ISO approval (took awhile) - Wait for engineer paperwork - Compliance work done (finished around November?) - Missed December inspection day due to.... i'll leave it there - Next inspection available time... March 2005 - Inspection done, quite a lot of D.I.'s arrised - Got car from workshop, first weekend of March (car no longer needed) - D.I.'s answered late June - Answers required further work - 2nd round of answers to D.I.'s submitted 29th September (personally delivered to DOTARS) - Saga ongoing... Bottom line. Car purchased Japan late May 2004. Now early October 2005, still no compliance plate. hope your workshops and engineers are ontop of everything. Especially engineers. lesson learnt? don't use your own car as a test car, even if compliance was free. Not worth it at all. djr81: looks like a little ways to go mate once u get the inspection done, make sure D.I.'s are answered AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Engineers need to be on the ball there. nouvo33: Has the workshop had an inspection day? -
Alita to be perfectly technical i'm sure that would be a very nice addition to the stand... just leave the bonnet up if you want
-
ah crap.... meant to take pics along the way.... but once uni work settles down, i will attempt a write up...
-
hahhaha since when is a RB26 equipped GT-T a stock car! sounds like a beast!

just want to say a huuuuuuuuge thanks to Greg (blind_elk) for coming round on Thursday to help me put the packs in. This so wasn't a 30 min job like some had mentioned A couple cut fingers (mine) and a couple hours later, the packs are in and hopefully all the hoses and such connected back up now, just to find the time to jump start the car and see if i really did have some dodgy Nissan coilpacks prev. Hope it solves the WRX problem.
