  1. i tried the search function and the best explanation i found was troy's. 1. i didn't know how to 'short'... now i know you need a paperclip, but what 2 wires? 2. haven't found anything on how to read the flashes the troy was talking about i'm sorry, but i'm a newb when it comes to this, so i wasn't sure what to do... and still not 100% but i guess i've got enough info to give it a try...
  2. f*cking shannon's.... anyways, had a sneaky trip to the servo last night to put some petrol in the car (fuel light was coming on... at first i'm like, not another f*cking light!) - take it down, still get the TCS and check engine lights, only seems to happen once the car has warmed out too?? - but now a new twist... at idle it's dropping it's revs and almost stalling, but the computer will jump in and raise the revs a bit, but yeah, came VERY close to stall quite a few time on idle... does this indicate anything?
  3. well i've JUST sorted out how i'm going move the bloody thing around. Shannons will insure the car whilst it's not rego'd, which means i can get a temp rego and drive the car legally to your workshop, or whatever other workshop. So let me get that sorted, but i have a mate working at a workshop bout 10mins from my house, so i'm going to get him to do a diagnostic thing, see what the problem is and see if we can fix it. Also, i'll go drive the car out to Dietmar's joint and see what he says about the spoiler holes, and if he's not going to do it properly, i can drive the car to your workshop. i'll let you know how it goes.
  4. is the UAS discount only for NSW members? Or being a Vic member, can i apply for the discount? how you finding the springs/shocks anyway siksII? cheers.
  5. $1000!!! ah crap.... really hope it's not the coil packs, and if it is... i can find some at a wrecker...
  6. VL sold locally. Skylines, not. Maybe that was the difference.
  7. i saw a split fire pack for sale in the trader section for like $650!!! hope it isn't my coil packs then....
  8. yeah, last time i called i got something along those lines.
  9. nice... so i just got make sure i'm not shifting like a tool now to decide if i even really need one! heheh
  10. Hey guys'n'gals well in my search for insurance companies who will insure a car whilst it's not registered, i was pointed in the direction of Shannon's. Everyone else just straight out said no, not until it's registered. Even Just Cars who will insure anything for the right price altho must admit, Just Cars quote was quite resonable.. anyways, ring up. Get a really nice girl on the phone, knew her cars and then quoted me $1900 a year for non-registered insurance, or $2200 a year for when it's registered! But wait, there's more - Pay by the month at NO EXTRA cost!! (unlike famous) And i was given rating 2 as well! Had 3rd party insurance in my name from about mid 2002. I'm 21, and the car is a 1998 R34 GT-T. I've yet to check out the modification situation, but i'm pretty sure i'll go with them as, most importantly, they have pay by the month. And cheaper than Just Cars, who were cheaper than Famous. So yeah, for those who have called Shannon's just to get knocked back by the whole under 25 thing, give 'em a try again. According to the girl i spoke to, she said things have changed around there recently (too bad they haven't updated their online quote system which won't let you put in an age under 25). Also means that if i get a temp rego from Vic roads, the car will be fully insured when i'm driving nice work Shannon's
  11. these short shifters don't wreck gearboxes or anything?
  12. kinda failed to mention the type of Skyline too.... R34, etc....
  13. you'll get a kick ass job tho
  14. i think i got a roller brush in the garage somewhere.... good luck with the respray, the lambo yellow is awesome!! but we'd be talking a few layers here wouldn't we? The lambo yellow has quite a flip/pearl to it... show us some pics when it's done!
  15. hey siksII, the whiteline springs and bilstein shocks, is that one of the 'packs'? like the sports pack or something?
  16. ok, how do i get into diagnostic mode???? i found this link... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...t=diagnostic+34 for those who can't be bothered reading the thread, here's the explanation i found... i know Troy you've explained it properly, but i have no idea how to do what you've described.... could someone possibly break it down for the dumb ass here cheers.
  17. it's nothing major as far as i know, and hasn't seemed to be a major problem for other ppl, but i don't know yet if it's the coil packs or what... (not that i know even what a coil pack is! ) - all cars are going to have problems with them. You buy a wrx and you might lose the gear box and clutch. Overall, a R34, i think, is a very reliable choice if you find a good condition car. I drove the car 900km's from Syd to Melb and it ran smooth as anything. I just don't having the car not being driven weeks at a time is doing it any good.
  18. hehehe, this the same ppl i got mine through Troy? you not think highly of them?
  19. coil packs expensive? it seems it might be a possible problem with my R34. Will a diagnostic let you know if a coil pack is faulty?
  20. ok, took the car out last night, and the got the f*cking lights come on again i'll do a search for entering diagnostic mode soon, and get that going. So is this Error 21 a coil pack relating thing?
  21. 3.5" exhaust? loud car? That's an impressive rwkw figure cos those are relatively minimal mods... nice job. I heard that the stock R34 turbo's don't like being boosted over 12psi? And that 12 is kinda the max for them?
  22. that looks awesome. I've got this little ass laptop from when i was a at school, Toshiba Portege, small as anything (cos everything is external) but would fit in the glovebox, so the Nissan Consult thing looks awesome... Troy, as far as i know, car has never been jumped... oh wait, the compliancer did say they had to change the battery cos the original one was flat, so if they did that, that means someone would have had to discover the fact it was flat and maybe jump it at some stage. Why do you ask if it's been jumped? and do Manuals have coil packs? all the coil pack stuff i've been reading at in regards to 34's seems to be with auto's??? i'll take the car out again tonight and see if it does it again.
  23. what other things do they do?
  24. hahahah, does too! like 1 half of it. - oh and my car is running better, not sure if it'll last... still a hot car tho...
  25. well took the car out a little while ago for about 15-20 mins, after having BOTH terminals disconnected over night, and she ran fine. No lights at all, no scooby moments, ran smooth. I don't know if it because of both terminals being disconnected, or just happened to run ok... but it's fine for the moment.
