i asked whether i could fit a new hi-flow one for compliance, but was told it had to be same as CAT that was used when emission testing was done for that particular model. Gotta match the existing evidence.
-
oh no, that's not going to be cheap what type of 911 pray tell?
-
i know everyone says compulsory driving course, and i totally agree. And yes, this should be part of all licences. BUT if you want to drive a hi-po car, and maybed this can apply to ANY AGE (actually i REALLY think it should apply to everyone with a hi-po car) you need to do more than just you're normal AAMI driving course. AT LEAST 2 more courses, maybe simulating all situations. More expensive to get (heavily subsidised by government) and HARD to get. And the points Karina (?) made are important too, it shouldn't just be driving. Intensive education, involving car dynamics, medical training, real life scenarios. And pre-emptive things like knowing when accidents most likely occur, where they most likely happen, what are the most common factors involved. Intensive driving courses and extensive education. Maybe even courses to simulate everything. A night time course, oil on the road, stupidly wet road, gravel, uneven dodgy roads, soft shoulders. Everything you would experience. And i don't think someone who had gone through 3 extra courses and education just to get their hi-po licence will think they are the king of the road. If anything, if done properly, they would drive slower, allow more room between cars, etc. cheers.

Calling all R34 GTT owners
SS8_Gohan replied to IneedaR33's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Never driven one, never sat in one. Hell, i've never drive a Skyline before I'm not exactly at the family stage and i'm into my cars so bang for your buck, and other categories, the R34 comes out ontop for me. Relatively new. Unique styling compared to a lot of cars, not just Nissan. IMO does look more agressive than R33. Nice interior, got all the guages, nice two tone colour seats, compared to R33 ones. Big fan of the dials Plus it's got a fair list of extras. Xenons (all boxed up for me by my compliance place ), Traction Control, Dual Airbags, LSD, Standard 17" rims, ABS, good disc brakes/suspension, electric windows/side mirrors, Immobiliser, good torque and power. Relative to R33. I was thinking S15, even S6 RX7, but the R34 is semi-practical. Can be track weapon and comfortable cruiser. Still not many around. The least made of the Skyline models, and as other ppl have said, the last of the straight 6 turbo's (well at this stage) Given that, i can't tell u more cos i don't have my car yet, i'm just hoping for good things I guess i should have driven at least a Skyline before i bought one, oh well cheers. -
so you think there wouldn't be much difference in the silvers in real life?
-
oooooo baby..... different finish. It's a bad pic, but maybe you could get it finished a little different. i think there are some places that do it.
-
dear me, they are shiny http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n7192839 - too shiny if you ask me. Damn it, why does no one have any 2nd hand silver ones, or even real LM GT4's!!!!
-
oh how quickly your mind changes adz You want my Advan Model 5's for track days?
-
dude, hook us up! Gareth there is a container arriving or leaving early november, i think it might be arriving. I'm not sure. So yeah, if you could hook us up with a set of silver ones (non-chrome) i'd be very interested. Would they fit an R34?
-
ahahahahhaahah - ok then, give me $1,500 x4 or whatever you paid, and i'll go down to Evo-R (??) and pick myself up a set of real ones
-
what company makes these? is it Taiyaya? All up they are about $1,100 AUD for a set. Which is pretty good considering 18" real LM GT4's are about $1k a wheel? Was it more than that adz? how much you reckon a good condition set of Advan Model 5's would go for?
-
i'm sorry Adz, i may just have to get these LM rip offs - I'm not too keen on the brand new idea, and finding second hand 17" Silver LM GT4's is VERY VERY VERY hard. Of course i'd love the real thing, but i don't think it's possible. thanks for the info Rezz, and i apologies in advance if i buy a set! Unless you can find me some 2nd hand 17" silver LM GT4's? :D

it would be great if we could get the REAL power figures of the GTR's. Gotta try and find a stock one.... could be looking for a while

Nismo LM GT4 Rims on a R32 GTR?
SS8_Gohan replied to berzerkled's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
i love those rims!! but they are very hard to find, anyone know where i could get a set of 17's in silver??? -
this might be against rules, but could you have this hooked for a real track (one with turns ) so when you come down the straight, give it a little shot, and that's it? Would this be against the rules when racing? cheers.

oh ok, so brakes are only if less than 50%. well my car is this compliance places test car, so they are making sure EVERYTHING is spot on. I'm sure my brakes were more than 50% but i guess saves hassle come time canberra checks the car if everything is new anyway. I'm certainly not complaining.

go stocker, won't have a problem at all. And really, don't need anything more than a stock BOV unless you are running big HP. i'm sure you can borrow one for the day from some friendly R32 vic driver
-
ok, so it's all over the news. P platers and Hi-Po cars. blah blah. Nothing new here, move a long. And with so much ambiguity over cars listed down at Vic Roads, and cars which are obviously over the power/weight ratio, but not listed, the whole thing is a big f*cking mess. I've come up with a plan to sought al this crap out here goes... I think this is a relatively easy fix. We all know that nothing magically happens when you get off your P's that means you can safely drive a hi-po vehicle. The easist way i see to fix this problem is still allow P platers to drive hi-po vehicles, providing they sit COMPLETELY different test/s, resulting in TWO types of licenses. Normal license and then something along the lines of... Stage 1: Normal everyday P plate test. Stage 2: Defensive driving course Stage 3: Advanced driving course (names arbritrary) Stage 4: Performance driving course. After the normal test, to pass the subsequent courses become INCREASINGLY difficult. Judged quite harshly. Whether or not you'd have stage 3 i'm not sure. BUT i still think this is a good way to go. If you're a young driver and want to drive a hi-po car, by all means do it, BUT pay more money and complete a couple extra skill intensive and difficult to complete driving courses. At the end of the day, you can drive a freakin F1 car on the roads if you can rego it Basically you'll hold a High Performance License, kinda a CAMS type thing, but for P platers to be allowed to drive hi-po vehicles. And before anyone says, this wil just encourage crazy driving once they get their Hi-Po license, i envisage these tests to be HARD with a capital B. You will get the wake up call that everyone seems to get once they are in a car that's out of control, and with the subesquent courses, P platers will get a very solid grounding on how to control a car in all situations. and that's my 2 cents cheers.

I know that where my car is getting complianced, it also gets a FULL service as well. New fluids for everything, new cat, new brake pads. I was surprised about pads, but i'm certainly not complaining. So after a full service the car should be running pretty good, but yeah, wouldn't have any extensive engine checks like NJR said. I'm not sure how well ppl like NRMA know their imports, sometimes they have like 1 or 2 guys that specialise in them. So maybe give em a call and ask about imports? good luck
-
"may be able to get engine power... blah blah" i'm sorry, i wasn't able to get this information Yep, as stated already. Hi-po cars are ONLY listed if they were sold locally via a manufacturer. L Platers are the safest drivers on our roads. I think this is a relatively easy fix. We all know that nothing magically happens when you get off your P's that means you can safely drive a hi-po vehicle. The easist way i see to fix this problem is still allow P platers to drive hi-po vehicles, providing they sit a COMPLETELY different test/s. Something along the lines of. we got a yellow and black pressure thingy. I'm 99% sure it's Karcher. Been fine, not a problem. Had it about 2 years? Don't know about internals, but outside is pretty plasticky. It's pretty big too. i'm 6ft, and it would be a little below my waist standing up. It's kick ass for rim cleaning. My dad just blasts all the brake dust off, so no soap, just high pressure water. Altho i never like how you are just hammering the brakes with all this high pressure water  anyways, i just use one of those green/yellow scotch brite thingies when washing my car. The green side gets all the crap off real easy my current car being a 91 pulsar hatch before anyone revokes my SAU VIC membership for washing my car with a scotch brite thing R34 is still in f*cking Sydney!!

I thought V8's went into the S4's?? Or would that be S6's? 2.7 v6, twin turbo, 4wd.... 4door GTR What are we looking at 0 - 100? cheers.
