Opinions: Is this an old mans car?
SS8_Gohan replied to meshmesh's topic in General Automotive Discussion
BMW are more drivers car. But i'm the same, except i haven't owned any Just been brought up around them (dad's cars) 320i, 528i now 530i. Trying to talk him into a E46 M3, he's due to change soon If i JUST wanted to cruise, i MIGHT think about Benz for half a second Altho i'm not totally digging the new BMW style, and Mercs i must say, some looke better than their respective BMW models. S over 7, E over 5. But i like the 3 and Z4 over the C and Kompressor. IMO Anyways, to Simon, how u gone about looking for a R34? Looking locally or you going to go the whole import thing? cheers. -
Opinions: Is this an old mans car?
SS8_Gohan replied to meshmesh's topic in General Automotive Discussion
pfft, all this talk of Mercedes, BMW all the waaaaaaay baby!! Simon, your list includes the following.... 1. New BMW M5 complete with V10 #: 507 horsies (380kw's) but can run with ONLY 400hp (298kw's) in economy mode. Not sure if this is where they shut off 2 cylinders? Because the current M5 V8 is 298kw's. So rip snortoring power, but also economical. Isn't THAT handy given current fuel prices. #: 0 - 100, under 5 seconds. #: 8000+rpm #: 7 Speed 2. BMW M3 CSL #: Epitome of performance in my opion. 265kw's from only 3.2ltrs N/A Straight six. Carbon fibre roof, glass fibre composite seats, 19" rims, and those awesome Michellin Pilot Cup(??) tyres. Quicker than a 911 GT3 around Winton. 3. 996 911 Turbo #. In all seriousness, when you look at these cars just think R34 GTR but better. Very similar makeup. 3.6 flat six Twin Turbo vs. 2.6 straight six Twin Turbo. Both have torque distribution style 4WD's, ableit Porsche's arugably better. Both coupes. Both got killer brakes. I know these are $315k new or $330k for the slighty hgiher output one, not sure what they are 2nd hand. But i reckon they are very similar to R34 GTR's just slightly better all round. But i think this more due to restrictions the Japanese had when developing the R34. Or GT3, GT2 would suffice as well. But those above cars are serious $$'s. $200K +, so R34 GTR with $20k spent on it, blow em all away. Go the R34 GTR no MERC!!! cheers. -
are the rims polished Nismo LM GT4's?? I WANT these rims, not polished, just the normal silver ones, so if anyone has any 17" ones or knows where to get em, 1st or 2nd hand, lemme know! if they're not GT4's, they are VERY similar.

inark - what on earth are you doing to the ceffy !!!
SS8_Gohan replied to d1-monkeh-'s topic in Victoria
hey sam, where'd ur GTR go?????????????????????????????????????? -
Do you have any schedules/plans for later on in November? I should have my R34 on the road by then, and all these accidents lately are getting me a little worried about driving the 34, when i've never driven a hi-po or turbo car cheers.
-
ooo, pick me! i'm from Sandringham. Couple suburbs up the bay from Mentone. Not many Skylines down this way. Just a shiteload of bmw's and mercs. and some sought of attraction for 911's? hey ted, brighton ey? real close. I went to school at St. Leonards. Someone else in the Vic section was from brighton, but wasn't a skyline. Turbo something-a-rather i think. Where do ya live Andrew?
-
In regards to predictability. Surely you'd rather drive a car that has had a full suspension treatment (for aussie roads) and good tyres as compared to stock? Car would sit flatter, more contact with the road. You can set the car up the way you want, maybe a touch of understeer (supposedly a little more controllable) Well that's the way i see it. Lower centre of gravity, etc. I know i'm going the full Whiteline treatment.
-
i think maybe thinner tyres in the wet have less water to dispel to remain in contact with the road? 911 Turbo's are like running 285's on the rear, prob more 295's and you'd have to be doing something REALLY REALLY stupid to lose that car in the wet. All does have a good 4WD system. But i think the point is, i'd still rather have wider tyres, and most driving is done in the dry.

since i've bought my car there are have been quit a few "incidents" involving Skylines and imports (ie 300zx), scaring the shit out of me. I think i'm going to be a nervous wreck the first time i drive my car. And probably even more nervous if i'm the designated driver for the night. This has just made me more determine to follow the path i was already planning on taking. First mods = suspension. Full work over, bars, springs, shocks, bushes, everything. Most probably no hicas and i've already got really good tyres. Just going to do everything i can to make it a safe/predictable car. All these stories really are scray stuff, and if something like that can happen a 70km/hr on a semi-wet road, in a turbo Skyline, i'm starting to get a little worried.

Imports wrecking the modifying car scene? Ok, the following are imported... BMW Mercedes Audi Maserati Porsche Volvo Nissan Ferrari Jaguar Honda Ford (some models) Kia Hyundai Mitsubishi (some models) Daewoo Suzuki Volkswagen Saab Subaru Holdens (some models) hmmm... that's A LOT of cars wrecking the modified car scene

$1500??? so you're getting a RB26, but without the DETT? RB26 S15 - do it! That would be crazy. S15's look the biz i think, and a RB26 would just make it a monster. Although for $1500, i'd wanna make sure the engine was ok before you did anything with it. cheers.

**Brand New! Taylor 314 CE (Acoustic)
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in For Sale (Other Items)
PRICE DROP!!!! Now super low of $2800 - We are NEARLY $1000 off the RRP, just because i've played it for a few days! as i said before, anyone is welcome to come around and have a play of the guitar. And as an extra bonus, i'll get the guitar re-strung with the same strings as it came from the factory. So that's.... $200 price drop AND a re-string with factory strings for whoever buys it! BARGAIN!! -
"So you've got the Skyline, now all you need is the smooth sounds of acoustic guitar playing to prove to that chick you are more than just a rev head. Well you're in luck because do we have a special guitar for you! Yes you!! It's a BRAND NEW, Taylor 314CE Acoustic guitar with pick-up, and pick-up in more ways that one! - Click on the love below to find out more!" In all seriousesnessesses, this is really a beautiful guitar, with a great bright and big sound. I've had it about 1 week, and played it a few days. The reason for selling is that i had been searching for an acoustic for a while, and was more comfortable with a smaller bodied guitar, with a smaller neck. Comes from playing John Mayer exclusively So i've all but bought a Martin OM-28JM (John Mayer's signature edition Martin, 404 total made) and need some cash back from the Taylor. Retails from $3,500 to $3,700 depending on where you go. And because i've played it for a few days, i'm just gonna knock is straight down to $3,000. The reason why this is in the Vic section is that any of you girls and guys are more than welcome to come and try-before-you-buy. I'll also drop the guitar off to you if you buy it (and don't live in woop woop! ) 0402 853 813 if your interested. Here are some pics, (same as in the for sale thread, more to follow soon)

R34 GTT - Series I and II???
SS8_Gohan replied to pear's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yep increase in torque, also.. Viscous to Helical LSD Different front bar Two tone colour steering wheel and gear knob Aluminum pedals Darker rims (more GTR colour) And i think that's about, altho i always forget something when i list the differences cheers. -
Hi everyone, I'm gonna chuck this on ebay soon, like in a week or two, but i thought i'd post here first so you guys can avoid a bidding war - Anyways, here's the guitar... 2004 (1 week old) Taylor 314CE Acoustic Guitar (has pick-up, Taylors new "Expression System") Will be putting more pics up soon. Here are the specs... http://www.taylorguitars.com/guitars/model...px?model=314-CE Type/Shape: 6-String Grand Auditorium Back & Sides: African Mahogany Top: Sitka Spruce Soundhole Rosette: Wood Fiber Neck: Tropical American Mahogany Fretboard: Ebony Fretboard Inlay: Large Pearl Dots Headstock Overlay: Indian Rosewood Binding: Black Fiber Bridge: Ebony Nut & Saddle: Tusq Tuning Machines: Chrome-plated Taylor Tuners Strings: Elixir® Light Gauge Strings with NANOWEB® Coating Scale Length: 25 1/2 Inches Truss Rod: Adjustable Neck Width at Nut: 1 3/4 Inches Number of Frets: 20 Bracing; Scalloped, X-Brace Finish: Satin with Gloss Top Cutaway: Venetian Electronics; Taylor Expression System™ Body Width: 16 Inches Body Depth: 4 5/8 Inches Body Length: 20 Inches Overall Length: 41 Inches Case: Taylor Hardshell ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Guitar was a present, but i had been looking around for an acoustic for a fair while, and wanted something with a small neck and body, unfortunately this beautiful guitar isn't either of those. Fairly standard neck, and body. I was look at the OM/000 sized Martins. I've played it for about 4-5days. So prob about 8-10 hours all up? It's brand spankers, no marks, ding, scratches, nothing. Just been sitting in my room, in it's Taylor hardshell case. Guitar also comes with.. - Guitar lead - Video CD's (explaning Taylors Expression System, and an interview with some Taylor dude) - Various newsletters, leaflets, and Taylor guitar pick. Australia RRP for this thing seems to be around $3,500 to $3,700. But being a high end guitar, not a lot of places stock them, so they are relatively hard to come by. So my price? Well considering i have played it for a few days, i'll make it a nice even... $3000 Anyone in Melbourne or near me (Sandringham, Melbourne) is more than welcome to come and have a play, it really is a beautiful guitar, and has a great, big and bright sound. The tone is awesome and being a solid top guitar, these only sound better the more they are played. This guitar is great for recording, but prob better for live stuff dues to it's bigger, brighter sound compared to say a woodier Martin. Will drop off in person to anyone who wants to buy from Melbourne. cheers everyone, P.S. If anyone wants to have try before buying, give us a buzz, 0402 853 813. More than welcome.

I think the mighty Pulsar will have to make an appearance again! Last time it was out for a cruise, i used it to hold up traffic on Beach rd so all the Skylines could get out of the car park

R34's and HID Xenon Headlights (confusion)
SS8_Gohan replied to nuffsaid's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yeah, don't meet the light requirements, ie. self leveling/cleaning. My car is in the process of getting complianced done in Sydney, and for those that say you have to destroy the Xenons, as far as i know, that's wrong. They are factory standard, and not a modification. Mine are being removed, boxed up, and sent down with the car for me to do what i want with after i rego it. Xenon's shouldn't be destroyed or sold by the compliancer without u knowing. cheers. -
oh so there is another coming? or you've just bought some stuff to put on the next one??? Gareth hasn't said anything. If there is, i'll get some factory GTR parts put on it!! and some LM-GT4's as well!
-
Would it be a bad idea to bring a unregoed 34 along, with a UVP? you think i could convince the men in blue that workshops are open on Sunday's??
-
ahhhhhh no wonder we couldn't find it!! i tried everything, images searches, etc. Damn that kit is PHAT!!! As cool as that would be, i think we are heading a bit out of the old price range. And a GT-T having phatter guards than a GTR?? I dunno bout that one Thanks dude for the info, i thought it was the same thing as East Bear. No guard changes, just narrower front/rear bumpers. But the above kit goes phatter than a GTR, nice! Hmmm. so back to East Bear or genuine parts.... the East Bear front bar/lip, etc costs 103,000 yen. Just parts. What's a rough idea on how much to add to that price to get it here? If it came in a container? thanks again shan... oh did Gareth say anything bout when the next container is gonna go? cheers
-
hahaha, the shan meister! so get Troy to custom it up for me? I have no idea of the extra shipping costs, that's what i was trying to get off Gareth. East Bear have prices up now, bout 103,00 yen i think but that's just parts. I don't know how much to add for getting the stuff to my doorstep. Also gotta factor in the custom "making" costs. I know there was a rear bar here in melb (genuine Nissan) for $700, and about the same for the front bar as well. Don't know if it's still available though. So yeah, something to compare the import price too... cheers.
-
We'll give him a bit to reply, but yeah, might have to get that number some time as i'm gonna go for the kit, but whether it's East Bear or this mysterious Masa one, or even genuine Nissan parts, i can't really decided until i have all the info on each one. cheers Ni.
-
Yeah, shan said that Masa make a kit for the R34 the same as East Bear, meaning don't have to change the guards, just the bonnet. He thought the price was a little cheaper, but wasn't sure. So i've been trying to find out where this R34 kit is?
-
[holloywood narrator voice] "When PM's and emails don't work........ there is only 1 thing left to do......... START A THREAD!![/hollywood narrator voice] Dude, Masa motorsports Kit, where can i get some info and what $'s am i looking it? And if anyone else happens to know, i'm looking for a Masa kit for a R34 but can't seem to find any relevant website, etc. cheers.
-
Just my opinion, but don't go 19" - Just starts looking silly, altho the M3's seem to get away with em.... -No chrome -Don't particulary like the photochop wheels Enkei's look the biz!
