  1. nice, thanks heaps guys!! last piece of info i needed to get the car off the dock cheers!
  2. was that done before the car left japan?
  3. Hi, Just need to confirm whether the air con gas in a R34 is R134a - anyone know? cheers.
  4. Does anyone know whether the type of gas in R34's is R134a??
  5. hmmm, i don't know a lot bout engines, but you may be able to turn the boost down quite low? Can also install more restrictive air intakes. These would reduce the power BUT, it doesn't really matter in regards to Power to Weight/Ratio rule as the rule goes off "FACTORY FIGURES" - Meaning no matter what you do, a turbo R33 coupe is always going to be over the power to weight. But you could get a non-turbo R33 and THEN turbo that, and you'd be fine, because the factory figures for a non-turbo are ok for power to weight. Bit silly isn't it? cheers.
  6. Hey Shan, the URAS "kit", do you have to find your own R34 GTR front bumper? Or do they make R34 GTR front bumpers that fit straight onto GT-T guards like East Bear? I've got a couple of options at the moment but East Bear might be the least hassle one, but could be quite expensive. Could you possibly find out how much East Bear sell their 'GTS-R' kit for? probably just the front bumper at this stage, if you could find out the price and throw it on the next container, i will grant you 3 wishes . http://www.e-aero.jp/aeroparts/m-piece/R34.html EDIT: just checked the east bear site, www.east-bear.co.jp and looks like they've updated their prices. Looks to be 103.950(99,000) yen (not sure what brackets are for) for the Front Bumper/Lower Spoiler, and something to do with the grille. Bout $1300 all up. How much extra will it cost to get it to my place?
  7. ahhhh crappy mc crap crap. I was never told about this! You sure this applies to newer cars like R34's as well? What do i do, now the car is in Australia?
  8. I have my R34 currently sitting at the Brisbane docks, has been there since July 17th - I pray nothing has happened to it, and nothing has been stolen. I actually have some items in the boot, which supposedly were chained up before they left Japan but have yet to confirm that. If they are stolen, can i report this to the police? My car came with KIWI too, so i've got insurance for the headunit in the car, etc. But i don't think it covers the items in the boot. Hopefully it was all chained/padlocked up *fingers crossed*
  9. Hi everyone, Just been told i need a 'degassing certificate' to get my car off the docks, all other paperwork is in-line except for this very last piece. Being a 1998 R34 i thought i didn't have to worry about the new gas laws, but apparenly need something stating what type of air-con gas my R34 has from the people i bought it off in Japan? Anyone know about any of this? My car is going to have to go into storage at the Brisbane docks and i want it out of there AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. And if anyone knows ppl who work there, i'm willing to "make a payment" to make sure my car is ok, and nothing is stolen. cheers.

    Which Car Alarm?

He's gonna do the install for my alarm too. $450 for a vision australia alarm? can't remember exactly. Nothing too special. Shock sensor, 2pt immobiliser, lock motor, blue LED, all wires hidden, etc. I reckon $550-600 would get your a very nice setup. cheers.

    Which One?

What type of rims are those in the 2nd 180 pic? Phat as! I'd go 180, 98 model (updated rear lights) hardly see any of those. SR20DET, light car, and make it what you want, drag, drift, track. Maybe a bit more Bang For Your Buck with the 180, and maybe better gains out of money spent on modifications. cheers.
  12. i know how you feel in part snowman. I bought a car in Japan mid June, hopefully getting off the docks Mon/Tuesday, then compliancing and it's a test car so gotta wait for DOTASSHOLES to come and look at it (hopefully early September) - Started looking for a car beginning of April best of luck for the Dutton Rally, will it be on any motorsport shows, free-to-air or cable? I saw R32 GTR's racing on some motorsport show on Foxtel, killing everyone of course cheers.
  13. This car would be Race/Rally use, nothing else. Obviously not Rally. Therefore compliance wouldn't be a problem if it was Race use.
  14. One thing which is quite misleading is 0 - 60 mp/h times AND 0 - 100 km/h times. You'll get quite a few tenths of a second difference between quoted times in different units. 0 - 60 mph is NOT the same as 0 - 100. 0 - 62 is more accurate. So if you ever see a cars 0 - 60mp/h time, add bout 2 - 3 tenths of second onto that figure. cheers.
  15. GTR is low 5sec 0-100, the GT-T is flat 6 secs or there abouts. But with those mods as well, might be getting mid-high 0 -100km/h. Some people think that the GT-T feels faster as it has a quite responsive turbo, therefore a little more user friendly compared to the GTR's relatively laggier turbos. So unless you're really winding the car out at the track, the GT-T may even feel faster around the streets. It's about 150kg lighter too. If i had to choose? Well i've bought a GT-T, so that aside , if i was focusing on track work, GTR. But if it's mainly a daily driver, with a little track time, GT-T. cheers.
  16. Yeah, i'm in Melb but compliance is in Sydney. Contemplating flying up and driving it back down, or trucking it down to Melb. But yeah, as others have said, you can get temp permits to drive the car to a specific location.
  17. i think that looks nice now, and i think would be a perfect height for a nice kit, skirts, front/rear bar. If you go too low now, you'll be stuck with body kits if you wanna go down that path. I think it's a good height now, and a good height for a kit if you want. Maybe focus on peformance aspects of your suspension? real low doesn't mean good handling, sway bars, stiffer shocks, etc. cheers.
  18. Depends on the compliance place as far as i know. Some change the whole assembly (4 Door R34's had halogens) - others replaces bulbs with halogens and then change the power pack, but leaving the Xenon power pack unplugged. I guess if the assembly hasn't been changed, then it should say "Xenon" on the inside, on the black plastic strip, closest to the headlight cover. Where'd you get your car complianced Brendan? You had it done fairly recently haven't you? What about yourself NJR? Where was your compliance done? cheers
  19. will be (if i can ever get the f*cking car off the docks!!! hurry up australia post you poor f*cking excuse for a mail service!!!) California Cars in Sydney - now go figure that business name out!
  20. Aslo give J-Spec imports a look if your importing a R34. They're melbourne based, so you can go see 'em if you like. I think they had that same R34 come through on their mailing lists. cheers.
  21. Well Just Jap wanted $1k for the rear wing (no thanks! ) - bump?
  22. My car has 17 x 8? (not actually sure yet, still stuck on the wharfs) but rear tyres are at 255/40/17. So i reckon you might get 265's outta ur 18's? Might wanna check that tho. Tyres i've got are Advan Neova's, haven't driven the stupid thing yet! but have heard these are good tyres. Altho, ppl are having trouble actually getting them here  cheers
  23. If i was looking at Whiteline Works kit or possibly Group 4's, should i be holding out as well? Looking to install September. I suppose you probably can't release details, but just a general question. Mainly street use but designed for a bit of track? Or pure track products? cheers.
  24. You got any pics of the exhaust on your car Brendan? I'm looking at exhausts at the moment, gonna go BATMBL front/dump pipe and CAT, but not sure what for cat-back. I'm kinda fussy, and want something parallel to the ground (not angled) and pointing straight back, not angled side to side either. I know, picky!! Exhausts sticking out at weird angles just shit me for some reason. I like it to look part of the car, not an "addition". Google pics of Apexi N1 look good, looking at Fujitsubo as well, look a bit angled tho. But really want the Mines VX Silence Pro Titanium from the Mines R34 GTR tho Just a touch out of my price range
  25. I bought my car mid June, landed Brisbane17th July, and i still don't have a Import Approval - Import approval under RAWS is different, done via secure server and then mailed out to the compliance workshop. I didn't know it was mailed out and was told it takes 7-10 days to approve. It does, but then Australia Post steps in and f*cking loses my first import approval!!!! another has been sent out, but it is going to be cutting it very close in terms of having to pay for storage at the docks (been a hold up with quarantine) And like someone said above, gotta wait for a compliance plate too as my R34 is going to be a test car, another 4-6 weeks - I don't know if i'll ever import again, i know i've saved almost $10K on what R34's are going for locally, but it's been a bloody long time. I think i started looking round beginning of April! - Barely feels like i've bought my dream car at all anymore, been so long. EDIT: Bring this back on topic First thing, don't send the car if you don't have the import approval! I know this is a very basic thing, and you're thinking, as if i'd do that? Well you may just fall into the trap of, oh it's been processed for 20 days now, car takes 2 weeks to get here, plus quaratine time, it will be ok by the time gets here. That's what i thought, and as you can see, it hasn't work out too well. And this is RAWS as well!! 7-10 days approval, done on the internet. Not like 15 yr stuff, all paper submission. Moral? DON'T TRUST AUSTRALIA POST!!!. If you're going with J-Spec you'll get shipping insurance with KIWI so that's one less thing to worry about as well. cheers.
