  1. done, Racepace, many moons ago. No E85 at the time though. I have my HKS Vcam controlled by my Link, so no HKS electronics, it's a bit of a mongrel (like me! lol) but it's a sweet setup. There is a hall sensor to detect cam position. I basically gave a bunch of parts to Trent and said "fix it fix it fix it!"
  2. definitely wouldn't do it myself, it would be drop off to professionals to sort it out. definitely not going smaller wheels, tyres probably need to sit in a 34, or something equivalent, that's been done, see what it's like on the road....
  3. hi all, had a chat with the PAC guys in Melbourne re: sound deadening just for general road noise, $1k job, floor doors, roof liner etc... i'm keen to see if there is a big difference with getting this done... not a cheap exercise, but if it's a night and day type situation i'd probably be very keen to give it a shot. yes i know it's an R, etc etc... but full Ti exhaust is plenty loud enough to hear the RB note whenever i would like , highway driving and what not would be nice to quiet down a bit. so if anyone has done this to their car, i'd love to hear what you thought of the before and after. thanks! daniel
  4. should pay more attention to this section... Final Inspection, FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) 2.5 years and it's starting to get a little tired but still beads and sheets, just not as well as it use to. I layered another 1-2 layers of FI Seal 'Strong' after FMJ - garaged car, maintained with pH neutral shampoo. Paint protection from someone who knows what they're doing (ie a proper detailer) can provide long term protection - but you need to be good with your maintenance as well to get the most out of it
  5. if anyone can help, please do. I remember a few years back "the elk" (graeme?) helped me out for free with the coilpacks on my GTT, just popped over to lend a hand, for nothing other than to help a fellow SAU member out. sorry i can't be of more help mate, don't really know any real estate agents, or people with property out wynhdam way what do people with animals do in this situation? do most people apply for rent and not mention animals or just try and keep it 'on the quiet'?
  6. added to the thread dig.... but wtf??? that's some john laws/alan jones shit right there "... you know what i mean"
  7. hahahahahaha nah, won't need to go anywhere, the meet/event will come to him - a pilgrimage if you will...
  8. my Nur had Nismo injectors before i changed, they were fine for 350'ish rwkw, running 2530's. Proven, solid injector. I'm in Melb as well. I'm sure i can help you out with a good price just to get you passed these injector issues
  9. or the Midori front pipes from my car that were good for 400rwkw
  10. ultimate for me would be... 2.8 + V-Cam (type B upgrade with greater timing advance) + Variable/VNT twin low mount + spastically high compression ratio 11:1 and ultimate+ would be adding direct injection ontop of all of that... in a billet alloy 26 block lol (don't think are made anymore) Full boost at idle
  11. noooo... your Vipec is made in NZ???? get out!
  12. don't need to do E10 as it's already effectively mapped. Every iteration of E01 to E85 is in essenced, mapped
  13. yeah, that would most likely be the plan. For me though, i'd probably see if Stao could fit some VNT turbos in a low mount twin config - Vcam + variable turbos..... mmmmmmm...
  14. ^^ so this I still want to do an E100 tune.... for shits and giggles - i've never seen United get out of the 82-85 range, but would be interesting none-the-less - that is full flex mapping there
  15. E85 - built in knock sensor another happy G4 customer - first flex fuel conversion, first non-HKS electronics V-Cam control - pretty stout piece of kit can't go wrong with the link/vipec's
  16. i'm pretty sure Trent played around with some Martini 85? or at least some of the drum options. he didn't really see much difference compared to 85% United... from memory My base 85 tune was Powerplus.
  17. ok, use $uckrogen drum for base E85 tune - that's your pure 85% baseline, then 98 tune and however your tuner wants to work from there. I don't think it would make a difference using the Martini as your 85% reference if the tune is conservative. But given you won't be drum filling the car, use the other brand and whatever caltex gives you, caltex gives you.
  18. any 85% ethanol fuel essentially means you do not have to worry about knock (with a half decent tuner), $ucrogen or whatever other overpriced E85 drum fuel isn't going to make much of a difference imo just tune on United if available, or Caltex - the whole idea of flex is to change the mapping based on E%, not octane. ie, you don't have to worry. Drum stuff is just not worth it... time attack... maybe, our cars.... nup.
  19. so in terms of response... it's better to make hybrid versions of these new turbos and potentially deal with some surge issues? so i would use my HKS 2530's with these, like those have used their old -5's with the new GTX?
  20. so the theory is they spool a bit quicker and flow a little more than a 2530?
  21. are the GTX2860's bigger than a HKS 2530?
  22. i think my pm is full 0-40/2 8]5--3 8*1/3
  23. sorry to hear bout the box interesting though, with E85 and new turbo tech, starting to really push the boundaries of what street cars would normally have to contend with. Maybe you'll create a market for a street-able bullet proof gearbox option - but you've unwittingly created a bit of a "ceiling" for what people might be considering build wise as well... (With respects to gearboxes) not sure if it's of much help, but i recently found out i have 33 v-spec ratio diffs (like a god damn kinder surprise this car) soooo... i have a getrag and 33 diffs... if you're in melb anytime soon, you're welcome to take it for a drive if you like, see what you think. She might be a bit slow for you, but she goes alright
  24. for size comparison, how would the SS1PU .86 compared to a -5 or HKS 2530?
