$15.3 Million AUD race R34 GTR?
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
aaaaaahhhhhh - didn't see that at all!! Nice spot Justin. I think there was an ex-race R34 GTR on sale or someone started a thread about it a little while back. And i can't for the life of me remember how much they wanted, but i'm sure it wasn't 15.3 Million Maybe $250K - oh well, the car looks like it could haul ass bit time cheers -
http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b44940383 went to www.xe.com and converted the price listed, and got $15.3 million AUD!!!! I'm thinking a wrong decimal/comma somewhere. Looks pretty nice tho

How about any time after 5pm at smoothe? How will we know which table, someone hang a Skylines Oz t-shirt over the back of a chair? Or pick like a corner of the outside area to sit at. I'm not sure how busy it is at that time. So who is it: Jameszilla SS8_Gohan Horus Jetdat Hotsky Creation SkylineGeoff Dave Horus WazR32GTSt Funky so does Friday, 5pm onwards sound good? Maybe 5:30pm? -
jake32: cheers for that! i've been wanting that exact info - much appreciated. i had my first bid today at the auctions. Limit of 1.1million, and was killed. Sold for 1.54 - Admitedly (sp?) it was a very nice car. 1998, 31000km's. Nismo kit, exhaust, a few scratches, grade 4, interior grade B. I think i was pushing it for 1.1 million. Can't say those list of prices over the past 3 months has got me very happy I had a limit of about 1.01million, but decided to up it to 1.1 - looks like i'll have to go up again. I've been giving some ambigious info me thinks Was this all from one auction yard jake32? or was it all over? cheers

I have been keeping my eye on R34 GT-T's prices for quite a few months now, there was one that came through the auctions a few months back for 930,000 yen i think it was. Just the car price. That is THE lowest i've seen them, everything else seems to be above 1.1million. I've also been watching yahoo and carsensor.net, etc. 600 - 700, i really don't think so, must be some place where the general public doesn't have access. I'm talking grade 4 cars and above. U can't have accidents cars, or real shit cars etc under SEVS, so you are limited in your R34 GT-T choice. cheers. EDIT: I think also, compliance prices were thought to be $4500, but with a few places getting approval, and compliance now being $5500, it's also upped the price a bit. I think $25-26K landed and compiled is prob about the cheapest you'll get now.

I'm sure u'll find out soon enough if u can handle the power or not. I would say in a GTST it would be safer to drive in terms of power and handling. A GTR is NOT constant awd, it will only apply power to the front wheels if there is a loss of traction. A GTR is predominantly RWD, therefore quite similar to a GTST the majority of the time, but with significantly more power. I would think (in theory) a GTST would be safer because if you start to lose it in a GTST you would back off the throttle and hopefully be able to steer out of trouble. If the same happened in a GTR, i would suspect thet best thing to do was to keep the power down, therefore let ATESSA help u by providing power to the front wheels? But in a scray situation the last thing you'd prob be thinking about was to step on the gas. I haven't even driven a RWD Turbo, so you've got more experience than me. Maybe some of our GTST come GTR owners, or those who have driven both can shed a bit more light on this? cheers

:uhh: 6 months in a n/a R33 and u'r gonna step to a R32 GTR? i think ur dad has a lot more faith than i prob would. I was going to buy (yep, me) a R33 GTS-T at 18, but dad said no, so i'm 20 now and currently in the importing process for a R34 GT-T. I can't say i've had any real scares in the 1991 Pulsar 1.6ltr (touch wood) but i think the extra few years of putting around in a little hatch has been pretty valuable. I just make sure i do the simple things, and make them second nature. Eyes always on the road (like most ppl, have learnt where all the buttons on the radio are) Check blind spots If raining, leave a larger gap Hopefully the 2 or so years i've had the pulsar, and the experienced i've gain will help me with the R34 GT-T. But i think the first order or business will be a driving course (skidpan, etc) hope u have fun and are careful with the GTR cheers.

slightly off topic shan, but would u know when the Kiwi ships are leaving for OZ? I'd be interested to see cos then i can work out, well i've got such and such a time to get a car if i want it on this ship. Then if i miss one, i've got such and such a time for the next one. I'm having trouble finding a silver, manual R34, i might have to go black but if i've got time to wait for a Silver, i will. cheers.

I thought Strike was $2pots on a Wednesday night?? If it came up as good as someone prev mentioned (sorry, can't be bothered going back to reply to ur post! ) maybe we can just chill there and those who want to bowl can, and those who don't can get messy with $2 pots? Start off laughing at the ppl bowling, then those bowling start laughing at the ppl drinking later on Public transport? Easy as. Melb Central station is just up the road a little, and a tram all the way down Swanston will get ya to Flinder st. So u got the pick of any train line really.

I've had/still have a Nissan Pulsar GL 1991. 1.6l, manual. No balls but a fun car to throw around, crazy understeer and shudder in the wet when cornering It was my bro's car, but i got it at 18, i'm 20 now and turning 21 in November. I too wanted a R33 GTS-T when i was 18 and had it worked out pretty much, didn't need a loan as i've had a good paying job since i was 18 and was paying up front. Parents were putting in $5k. But my dad was not too keen on contributing to a rwd turbo at 18 after only about 6-7 months of driving a Pulsar. So i waited and saved, drove my Pulsar and just put down a deposit for a R34 GT-T plate today In restrospect i think the way it's panned out its probably for the better. I've prob only done about 15,000km's in the Pulsar but i've done lots of varied driving, city, country, night, long drives, heavy traffic, etc. Had a bit of taste of power with my dad's, 530i (170kw's) brilliant car to drive and i think it's been good to kinda take small steps with cars. Pulsar, to a bit of "spirited" driving with the 530i. I think looking around 20-21 for your turbo Skyline would be the way to go i think. Get maybe a Pulsar SSS or even the 1.8ltrs are DOHC. Good cars, solid as a rock. I think find something to get some experience in for a few years, and if you have a few scares on the road in those first few years you won't have a $20K loan to worry about if something happens. just my two-fity good luck with it!

The so called "gentlemens agreement" is no more and no one has ever really taken it seriously anyway. R32, 33, 34 GTR - MKIV TT Supra, Evo, Sti, etc, - It hasn't been adhered to for a long time, but no-one has done anything totally crazy. But now that it's acknowledge that the agreement is no longer, you will start to see things like VQ32DETT with about 330kw's (hopefully new GTR). And then 330kw's on the brochure The Japanese are brilliant at making 2 door sports cars, but when you've got the likes of 996 911 Turbos', you gotta push things a bit so now that it's official with no more 206kw limit. cheers.
-
The GTR's are DEFINITELY more than 206kw's. Esitmating on about a 30% drive train loss, or 70% of the fly wheel power, GTR's would have around 270-280kw's. You are not going to pull high 4 to low 5 second 0 - 100's with 206kw's and 1550kg to lug around. M3 is around 5.4 0 - 100, got 256kw's and weighs about 1350kg (roughly). Add a bit more weight to the GTR and add a bit more power. 270kw's at the fly for GTR's looks about right. I think stock ones are about 190rwk's? hope that helps, cheers.
