  1. hey skylineakt do u mean like the vents the R34 GTR Vspec II's have?? Just a triangle cut-out of the bonnet, with some mesh, above the air filter? I'm pretty sure only VSpec II 34, GTR's have them.
  2. hmmm... maybe it wasn't dinged then come to think of it. maybe it was getting guard work done, the front bar also looked slightly diff too, custom body kit?... anyways, be interesting to know what was going on..
  3. Come on, can't hide, i saw a Black GT-T with aftermarket rims (kinda AVS style) being backed into a bodyshop on South Road, right near the Safeway there. Had like grey stuff on the rear right quarter, and on the front bar, body filler?? Kinda like what ur car looked like narkeh when u were throwing ur GTR guards on. So who dinged up their sexy black R34 GT-T ?
  4. What happens if the new GTR doesn't use the VQ V6?? huh? eh?? I highly doubt that would happen tho... RB35DETTTT - QUAD TURBO!!! hehehe
  5. That's the thing. Standing on the road, the exhaust sounds really, REALLY metallicy, and doesn't sound like the engine is too happy - but once u jump in the drivers seat, and rev it out to the redline..... u'll understand why ppl talk about the engine note of the M3 cheers.
  6. i have a feeling rsx84 that brand new, the R32 GTR was around $150k? At least in the 100's i think... But just think how good the R32 GTR is now, imagine how good it must have seemed back then!! U'd be wondering why people would be buying a Ferrari or Porsche....
  7. i can give ya M3 specs... BMW M3 - bout $150K 256kw 3.2ltr, Straight Six N/A (now that's some engineering) 0 - 100 - 5.4secs. Kerb weight 1490kg Regarded as one of the best handling cars around, and having one of the best engines notes of any car. Also got every luxury gizmo under the sun Mercedes SL55 AMG - $369,900 (really?, i'll take 2 then! ) 5.4 ltr V8 (Supercharged) 368kw 0 - 100 4.7 secs Kerb weight 1965kg From what i've read, despite the weight, due to Merc's active suspension (much like BMW's suspension on the 7 Series) there is little body roll and the car still handles brilliant. But what else would u expect from a $368K merc? I'd still sooooo be going the M3 at this stage. Dodge Viper - (can't find price, assume.... shitloads) 336kw 8.0ltr V10 !!!! 0 - 100 4.3 secs Kerb weight 1572kg I've heard pretty hard on the brakes, but who would care if you could afford one. Again, from what i've read great car, but a pretty rough and ready ride. Sort of strap urself in... From what i found on the Mustang, not even worth a mention amongst there vehicles. Unless i'm missing the top spec one or something. Could throw in the M3 CSL, 265kw's, 3.2 ltr Straight Six N/A - $210,000kg - 1380kg. 0 - 100 bout 4.8 secs. But yeah, it's a very weird category the 4WD Monaro is in. Has a snowballs chance in hell to compete with a WRX Sti/Evo - half the price, and no hope of competing against. And they're ur 4WD performance cars. But then it's cheaper than any Euro model, Audi S's, BMW M's, Merc AMG's - Whilst cheaper it has no-where near the same performance/gear/technology/innovation/quality, etc. So really, if there is a market for it, it should do well bcos no ones else is around! Conclusion? I'd buy an STi if we have to choose new cars, and couldn't go over $100K. cheers.
  8. none taken - Stupid carlos, sounds like a bit of a Chris Bangle dude... should make the head GTR tech dude, the CEO, i'm sure we'd see some hella cool cars!
  9. Was there ever a time when there were R32 GTR's sitting in Oz showrooms? Or were they only ever imported when ordered?
  10. Very, very cool I'd love to see a 2 Door, XR6-T, something around the 1500kg mark, or just in the 1600kg. I reckon they would sell like hot cakes!!
  11. A 1970 torana with a 13BT is not a comparison. We are comparing a factory cars against another factory car, or comparing the closest thing we can. So a 2002 R34 GT-T (only 1 yr old), prob about $40k? I think we all know that not everyone buys their vehicle for flat out performance, but last time i checked, HSV was the performance division of Holden, so the a-fore-mentioned car is a performance vehicle. Yes, it is good to see local car makers trying something new. This Monaro 4WD, the kick ass BA XR6t, Astra Turbo, Crewman, AWD Magna's, etc. But $100k for a mid 6 sec, near 2 tonne, 2 door coupe, with only 270kw's from a rather large engine? I still think Holden can do better with what they've got. cheers.
  12. looks good, 6.6 secs, 0-100, why the f*ck quote it on gravel??? That car ain't no rally basher, so we could say a flat 6, 0 - 100 on the blacktop? Still shit slow for a $100K car. A $30K R34 GT-T will get you a flat six. But yes, as much as i hate holden for the their shit quality, blatant copying, rebadging, ripping-off. Just going out, making and committing to a 4WD on a "performance" car deserves a bit of a look. Still a $30K R34 GT-T give u the same speed at least, and most probably better handling due to weight. $35K RX-7, 1999 onwards. Even a lightly worked R33 GTS-t will get u a flat 6 sec, 0 - 100. Go even further and pick a SR20DET car, give ya a 6 sec car. 5.7 Litres V8, i think they are way down on the power sides of things if you ask me. Give BMW 5.7 Litres and a V8, and u'd be WELL in ur 300kw's. Did someone mention comparison to the RS6?? R u nuts!!! An Audi RS6 would rape and pillage this monaro!!
  13. yeah i agree with Andrew, 350Z nicer looking. I absolutely DITEST the back of the V35, i really, REALLY hate the light clusters. I know the Skyline has gone global, but the after-burners should have stayed, and no-body give me the "but if it's dark, and u use ur brakes, the burners are still there" crap, i know!! . But it soooooo ain't the same.... Hell, the new integra has more afterburners than the 35! I read in the Herald Sun "Cars Guide" - yes i know, a very respectable source - that the V35 is coming to Oz? And it's just going to be called the Zed or some shit like that, but i'm pretty sure... no almost 100% that we are getting the Coupe or the Sedan, or both. For all i care, they can keep the 35, looks like a piece of shit. As long as the 35 GTR can beat the pants off the 911 Turbo (a very tough ask) i reckon it will be a bloody good result. I also heard that they aren't really rushing the 35 GTR and it won't be at the Tokyo Show? Any of our Japanese friends have any more info regarding the Tokyo Show with regards to the GTR??
  14. $623K for the lambo!! shit...... but yeah, awesome result tho! hahaha, love the avatar Hiro!! and the caption! very cool.. sorry, had to!
  15. the can test ride height??
  16. http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/0018 The following car has just come into stock with a supplier in Japan - it is available for purchase immediately at 3,190,000 yen car cost, which should work out to be around $59,000 landed (including container shipping to most states). The initial payment would be around $44,000 for the car cost plus $1,000 for our service fee - the balanace would not be due until the car arrives in Australia. Compliance is not available for R34's yet but it should only be another couple weeks away at most, this car can be held at the agents yard until it can be shipped .. we expect compliance to cost around $6,000 because of the additional cost of genuine brake pads, but it may be as little as $5,000 depending on the workshop. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1999 Nissan Skyline R34 GTR 2.6L twin turbo 6 speed manual 67,300 km's auction grade 4.5 immaculate condition factory TV and navigation Profec B boost controller NO accident history HKS exhaust Blitz air filters .. available NOW for around $59,000 landed (excluding compliance and registration costs) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ok, so it needs to be complianced. Extra $6k, 550 for rego, $1k for tyres, stamp duty, nother 500 so an extra $8 - $8.5K maybe??? But still, f*ck, $67K for a auction grade, no accident R34 GTR! I soooooooo wish i had the cash. good signs tho, good signs
  17. Yeah traction control from my understanding is just the car telling u "no" to the accelerator, or applying the brakes (and if it's advanced enough, only the specific brakes) really quickly on/off to stop the wheels spinning. So prob not the best thing. And zdenko, there is no point saying u can by a 1970's bomb and just put a rotary in, cos that isn't what the car came with in the first place! It's 1 complete factory car, vs another factory car. Saying u can buy this shell car and drop some complete foreign engine into it, doesn't have much to do with a R33 vs an R8. cheers.
  18. that is sooo f*cking impressive. 178kw's from a 2ltr 4 cylinder. is the 360 Modena a V8? Good figure that, 298kw's. But yeah, looks like Porsche takes the cake. 74.4 is a pretty good figure i would think.
  19. Yeah pretty amazing what they can do with N/A straigh sixes... ah the straight six, gotta love em BMW M3 CSL 3.2 N/A 6: 265kw's. 370NM That's 82.8kw's/litre. TVR Cebera at 269kw's or 67kw/litre Go BMW!! hehehe. If u take the spruced up version previously mentioned (328kw one) that's 82kw/litre. Pipped by .8kw Look at the figures coming out of these N/A straight sixes. Then go look at the 235kw's of a holden 5.7 V8 :bahaha: what a waste of space. Or even the top 300kw 5.7 V8, 52kw/litre. Pretty pathetic if you ask me. Give BWM or TVR 5.7 litres and a bent 8 to play with and see what they come up with cheers. by the way, what are the specs of the S2000, all i know it 2ltr 4...
  20. I can attest to the "understeer" fact of FWD's - I've got a 1991 Nissan Pulsar GL (1.6ltr hatch) - love the wet bcos it's the only time i can have some fun in the car. Not enough power to generate fun on it's own, need some help from mother nature Some nice flicking action in the wet around a car will make the car just continue travelling on the same line, car shudders heaps!! But just back off the throttle and you've got no probs correcting the car on the right course. But in the wet the car just shudders "outwards" from the way your turning. With enough speed u can get the back out tho, and i spose you can always use the handbrake. But i haven't been game enough to try the handbrake or take a corner and too high a speed. Don't really have any industrials places around my area. cheers.
  21. ah cool, someone who has driven both. 32 the winner hey? hehehe, cool. Amazing how weight seems to be such a huge factor with a cars dynamics. 32 being the lightest of them all. I can't see why car companies can't see this. Different series and updates of cars are just getting heavier and heavier. It's really stupid. Besides dynamics there is also things like fuel consumption to think of. As well as stress on components like brakes, etc. oh well...
  22. Yeah Jameszilla posted this up a few months ago.. I think it looks absolutely tops! Plus it ain't just the outside, he's also given the engine a good work over too. A decent amount of power too for a car that size, should be goer! cheers.
  23. Factory says R34 GT-T's are 206kw's but i think it's possibly more around 215kw's due to some cars dynoed when stock. 1410kg's - 210kw's: R34 GT-T 1700kg's - 240kw's: BA XR6-T I would imagine the R34 would handle/brake better just due to weight. Anyone here driven BOTH? not 33's or 32's. Adzmax? or u still waiting to get ur car in? "Better" is far too general a term. To me, the R34 is "better" bcos lighter, don't need 4 doors, better fuel consumption, a lot cheaper (can get R34's in real good nick for low $30K's), IMO looks better, not as many around, modability is not an issue thanks to good ol Nissan making sure the factory parts can take a lot more punishment than the stock power. Haven't exactly heard the greatest things about the Fords tho, ie gearbox. Also, can't up the boost or u void warranty. So for the above reason, to me, the R34 GT-T is a better car. cheers

    34 bodykits

Yeah i know the bonnet needs to be cut or changed completely and then u'r gonna have problems with the front guards too - inark said the headlights were different for the R34 GTR as well, altho i haven't been able to compare the 2 up close and personal, they look the same from pics (GT-T and GTR lights that is) Hey franks you wouldn't have anymore info about the BNR34 front bar fit to the ER by any chance? Cos if i get a R34 it's something i wanna do. by replicating, do they mean possibly altering a few points, like the guard areas etc, to fit straight onto a ER34 - like there are GTR front bars for R33 available that just fit straight on? cheers.
