boost same, timing varies. depends how you think of it... i think of it as timing at '0' (rather than negative) for the 98 map, which is then advanced depending on the ethanol %. different parts of the map obviously vary in how much the timing is advanced but don't worry about the 98 map as i'm assuming that's already been sorted for most people as that's their fuel of choice.

i hate to nit pick but 'Eflex' is Caltex's higher % ethanol blend, 70-85 'Flex-fuel' is the ability to run anything from 100% unleaded to 85% (or whatever your highest E%) ethanol. I know you knew what you were referring to, but just to save other people the confusion. Fantastic to see more people getting in on it though!! More ethanol users the better!! Get on it people!!

no plugin G4 for the Stagea? Any ECU with a digital input should be flex capable... Haltech options for Stagea? yeah, i remember the last time i looked for UOA companies i struggled to find much. Unless blackstone has some sort of presence here in oz

Nissan Skyline R34 Gtr Z- Tune For Sale
SS8_Gohan replied to SiR_RB's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
really, Nismo didn't keep #1?? hmmm... when Rain on gtr.co.uk got his years back, i thought they were talking about customers ones starting at like 3 or something... interesting. well that's pretty special then, build #1 -
Trent mentioned he saw a United with some, and what-do-you-know... http://www.unitedpetroleum.com.au/store-locator/fuels/E85 - they're back in a big way! And Vic is killing it! Sweet. Nothing really close unfortunately, but a bit closer than the closest Eflex at least. Hopefully fueltown gets their Manildra E85 back... - knowing United though, it's prob E90... but good times though, will be back in the 400rwkw

that's why i went with the Yank oils (RP and AMSoil) until we had a bit more concrete info. I ran RP in my GTT with E85, no dramas and then switched to AMSoil is their comparative product was meant to be slightly better. I've carried over the AMSoil to the GTR but will definitely give something thicker a try from either Motul or Penrite by the sounds of it. When i get a little bit of time, i'm going to go through this thread and make a bit of a summary, and then maybe a few of us can go off and do UOA's to confirm/deny summary.

Nissan Skyline R34 Gtr Z- Tune For Sale
SS8_Gohan replied to SiR_RB's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
well it's not going to be build #1, wasn't there something about them not actually starting at 1? Even if that's wrong, i thought Nismo have the first 1 or 2 anyway? -
Nissan Skyline R34 Gtr Z- Tune For Sale
SS8_Gohan replied to SiR_RB's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
it's obviously a joke of some sort, but i guess most of us just don't really get it... -
i'm a fan but then again, i should be you need to sort those stickers out! I went with the flat caps, i like the slightly more refined style to be honest... but i lost one cap (since replaced) at the last track day, so for motorsport events, i'll probably pop them off... get more of the time attack look

Nissan Skyline R34 Gtr Z- Tune For Sale

around the $200k sounds in the ball park based on ones that have gone in Japan, Australia etc. GTRSean: as i said, the username seems like the real owner, but i don't get why you would put up a bogus listing like that? Unless it was like someone i knew who got in trouble with the missus and told "just sell it!" so they put a not so expensive car on carsales for huge $$ and then claim "i'm trying, but no one is interested honey!" still doesn't make sense to me... some sort of in-joke? -

SS8_Gohan replied to SiR_RB's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
this is weird.... this listing looks like a joke, given the price and the description "built #1", everything just says bogus but the seller has a similar name to the SAU user who actually owns the car??? maybe someone got into his ebay account. still going to be bogus either way weird.. -
wow, some great replies to this thread - thanks for all the contributions! for the person running AMSoil, it's fine - there's quite a few UOA's around on bitog (bob is the oil guy) and other places that show AMSoil is ok for ethanol. Based on this, and others like Rotella etc, i don't see true sythetics being an issue with ethanol provided they have the right additives? anyways, i think i'm going to give the 6100 15w50 a try.

ripps, we have very similar setups (as do most of the people posting these questions) built 26, -5's (i'm running 2530's). I just have an intank Nismo and ID1000's. That's it. Obviously there's nothing wrong with going a surge tank, dual pumps etc either, just depends on the setup
-
first, search, heaps of threads. two, what turbos? track work?
-
wouldn't it be more a function of the time of year?? as for me... Racepace for mechanical/servicing
-
wouldn't even contemplate bonnet pins. I'm pretty sure they were requiring a secondary restraint even for standard bonnets at the last day i went to. They let me go as i said i'm pretty sure my setup was the same as factory, but they said for next time to have one. but looks like the ebay one is a go-er, so i'll just grab one of them. Cheers!
-
WRX days down here have been requiring them, plus i just want the extra security for peace of mind. I'm not 100% sure if my catch setup classifies as standard, i believe it is but I rather like my bonnet and i'm happy to add a little extra safety in case of a freak accident

thread dig http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Secondary-bonnet-restraint-Drift-JDM-ke70-s13-skyline-/300644790174?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item45ffd36f9e Anything particularly wrong with this? don't want to take any chances with my bonnet. comes with a battery triangle as well

Iran & Strait Of Hormuz Blockade
SS8_Gohan replied to GTR-N1's topic in General Automotive Discussion
that's what i mean by covert campaign, cyber warfare, drones, troops on the ground, assassinations etc, it's all happening just not really being reported. -
by dimensions, i meant tyre size... hmmm... will start out on some lower psi next time
-
dimensions make a difference?

why not push for Ethanol? if anything, doesn't these events completely vindicate the decision? Australia has immense ethanol capability, as myself and countless others on this forum have shown there are not the fuel line corroding, engine blowing up problems all the status quo pushers say there was going to be. We make ethanol from waste by-product of sugar-cane and wheat so we're not affecting food prices, and Melbourne will be getting an ethanol plant from house-hold waste soon. Ethanol is the perfect transitory fuel until we come up with better solution (hydrogen infrastructure/network, electric cars charged by renewable sources etc). What could be better... we buy Australian made ethanol from aussie farmers and reduce our use of imported oil. Whilst Australia isn't big enough to effect OPEC etc, if the world doesn't need much oil, then the power of places like Iran is greatly diminished. already happening, not 100% clear who it is though. There have been assassinations, exploded ammo dumps etc... very little reporting of this going on. Obviously the drone that 'crashed' in Iran is further evidence of a covert campaign currently ongoing. Not sure though if it's Israelis with some US support, or more 50/50 or even other players... but there is definitely black operations ongoing in Iran at the moment. The chest beating in the Straight also probably has to do with losing one of their main allies... Syria. I would think Iran has figured there's a good chance of regime change in Syria, and hence there goes an ally. So the events in the straight are probably just to show everyone Iran is still a force onto themselves and losing Syria isn't that big a deal and they still have plenty of influence in the region ergo, showing the ability to block fuel supplies if need be. From all reports, there is NO appetite for a pre-emptive strike on Iran in the US. Advice is that the nuclear program would only be setback by a little... delayed... that's it. But then you would have massive upheaval in the region, pretty shitty result. US certainly will not be doing anything stupid, but Israel on the other hand.... they've gone pre-emptive on Nuclear reactors abroad before (Iraq, 80's i think) so it would be eyes on Israel to do anything in my opinion. I don't see there being any chance of Iran coping USA ordnance as a first strike, especially not whilst Obama is in, he's not that stupid. The Republican candidates are just courting the Jewish vote with their hawkish comments on Iran, but if one of them got in their advisors would be the same "don't be stupid" (which is pretty hard thing to do if you look at the Republican candidates...) There is also a legislative election in Iran march this year, but probably little change as the reformists are essentially not participating and key players are pretty much under house arrest anyway. -
hahaha, the edgie was thinking it doesn't sound like anything in brighton...

i had this high pitched noise on my old GTT, thought it was poss the turbo but in the end it was the FMIC which had a slight leak around one of the silicone joiners. So i just pulled it all apart and put it all back together making 200% sure all was nice and snug, and got some good clamps and ditched the ones it came with. Norma ones i think? i had a highflow hypergear on my GTT as well, nice bit of kit. Stealth, punchy and plenty of fun in a rwd Skyline. 250rwkw ish on 98. 280'ish on E85. But like the others, no point getting the turbo, dump etc without getting something to tune it. As you have a R33, you're better off getting a power fc i reckon.

i agree, no need to go anything more than the AD08's. You'll have plenty of grip and even more power than you'll need for your first track day. for reference, start out around 34-35'ish cold psi with the AD08's, seemed to be quite happy around the 36'ish mark after a few hard laps. Traction Tyres weren't 100% what to go with as they haven't had too many customers for reference, but they suggested that and it seemed to be quite good.
