ahhhh ur in the land of the GTR, not following the whole "Horide" thing, but i'm sure it's good! V8? Thought maybe better for the low end stuff, but if there is no lag, i guess it doesn't matter then
-
u looking at buying one? i'm sure there is more accurate info from the ppl on these forums, i've never driven either! just known ppl with E36/46 M3's, read lots of articles, watch Car shows etc, big BMW fan, M3 is known for it's handling ability And of course ppl here have GTR's. anyone driven both? E36 M3 and GTR (32, 33, 34)

Subaru has been saying for a while that they have eliminated Turbo lag, but can't find anywhere how they've actually done that. Those specs sound pretty promising, but personally i'm hanging out for an absolute bahnstormer of a V8TT starting to look like wishful think tho where'd u get the info if u don't mind me asking? cheers

Wanted 1991 Bathurst race video...

i've actually got 1991 and 1992 on my poota, but got telstra gayble, so not sure how to get them to ya! -
I think the E36 started off just as 3ltr, with 286hp, bout that. Then went to 3.2 ltr, making about 321hp. The yanks got some 240hp M3's, heheh I think 2001 was the last year of E36, then the kick ass E46 took over. Beautiful cars, no doubt about it. Not GTR standard in terms of speed/power. But are very nimble on their feet, so do handle really well but i guess the GTR would still have it with the 4WD, maybe if both were constant RWD, the M3 and GTR would be pretty neck and neck in the twisty deparment i would imagine. Maybe even an advantage to the M3. No M3 will match with the GTR but not really designed to. More a luxury sports car. Full leather/electric goodies etc. And modifying not as good as a GTR because they are pushing out about 235kw's (E36) from a 3.2 ltr Straight 6 N/A, they are pretty highly strung engines. cheers.

if the standard engines die all by themselves, i wouldn't have much faith in their longevity by modding them. But, i've never owned/driven/modded one so prob be wrong. But with full engine rebuilds after 15,000km's, u gotta wonder...
-
i originally thought this thread was a pic of u in a BMW M3, from like AutoSalon or something! whoops...
-
wow u got a R34 GTR for ur 18th!! nice work, i bet u must have been slightly happy what does ur dad do if u don't mind me asking, sounds like a good line of business? i think i've asked this before, but my memory is shocking, ur not a bayside person by any chance? down in lovely SSE burbs?? cheers.
-
hahaha :bahaha: looking very 733t there narkus. so with the new bonnet is it gonna lip over all the way like the standard one, or u gonna fit the split grille thingy?? sounds like it's coming together nicely, i'd be interested to see whether losing a couple of seats makes it noticably faster/responsive/handle better, or also the increased rigidness with the rollcage, or still wouldn't make a diff? cheers.
-
awwwwhhh, that dog is the coolest!! we just recently got a dog, bichon frize (beeshon freeze) small white fluffy think, more like a sheep than a dog i reckon, apparently they have wool not fur!! hehe anyways, ur dog is beautiful.
-
but u can only have a few runs against the GTS before u they have to stop and fill up for oil, and a quick engine rebuild, possible diff change as well :bahaha:

does anyone own their car?
SS8_Gohan replied to antuanstylar's topic in General Automotive Discussion
exactly u don't buy a car as an investment, i think we all know cars depreciate. But think of the enjoyment u are getting out of what u own/pay off?? I would KILL to have a skyline as daily driver, surely that satisfaction must mean more than losing a few grand on it a year, i'd like to think so anyway. cheers. -

hey warspeed, long time mate. I remember having a good chat last year about cars etc, but i'm in quite a diff position now tho. I'm 19, and have saved up about $21K now (didn't realise i'd be getting about $1k tax back, can't believe i was overtaxed so much) trying to decide between a R34 GT-T or Investment property with my dad. Altho, a commerical property is looking the goods at the moment. What do u think i should do with the money i've saved up?? Get the car and wait for the property market to settle down a bit? And then start saving for a deposit again when it does settle down? Or do something completely different? I've been advised by a lot of ppl here to go the property route, and i've been giving a truckload of good advice, but would be interested to see what u think? On topic, i work for the ANZ, in credit card fraud, see some ppl get into quite a bit of trouble borrowing money, so i'm kinda of the school, if u don't have the money, don't get it. But yes, there are situations where borrowing is the only option. cheers. -
I luv teh Dunnydore (formerly shyer ok!)
SS8_Gohan replied to a topic in General Automotive Discussion
well some guy who signed up on the 9/07/03 started this thread. so u can read whatever u want to into that. Maybe one of the street commo guys got pissed after the facts came out and they realised that a 4 door family sedan cannot be compared to a 2 Door sports coupe, and that the coupe was a better car, surprise surprise. -
Michelin Preceda Tyres (small review)
SS8_Gohan replied to benm's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
anyone ever had a go with some Pirellis? Particularly the P7000's?? But yeah, awesome review. FM901 is dropped all the time in tyre threads, but these sounds awesome cheers. -

U can't do a whole lot with E46 M3 engines, well not without a whole lot of bling bling. 256kw's out of a 3.2 Straight six, they are rather highly strung to say the least. Supercharger is really the only way to go, altho i'd love to see a Twin Turbo E46 M3 -
pics pls [email protected] no offense, sounds like an awesome car, and i believe the condition but $49K is a bit high. Considering u can be driving R34 GT-T's in Oz with all ORC's paid for low $30's with auction grade 4 - 4.5 I am interested, but the price is a really too much.

been meaning to reply to this thread. ok, this is chinny's plans (most probably going to go halves in a house with my dad, but if i was going the R34 GT-T route...) : Bayside Blue R34 GT-T 5spd Stock as a rock. As far as i know, there are no Bayside Blue R34 GT-T's in Oz, but that is just from cruise pics, SAU, SDU, stuff like that. So chances are there there might be one floating around, but as far as i know, none here yet. Pretty hard to find. So yeah, Bayside Blue R34 GT-T, * Either 18" Bronze TE-37's, R34 GTR Rims, also saw some nice buddy clubs rims. * Full GTR Kit, compared to number of R33 GTR kits, they are as rare as panda's, and only know that one Green GT-T up for sale last year which had gone down this path. * GTR Front Bar, GTR rear wing. Not sure if side skirts are different. Not sure if custom front bar can be made to fit without the GTR guards. Will also need to cut the standard bonnet, or fit GTR bonnet. * Make it a full TRACK car. Kick ass brakes, suspension, and concentrate on making the car really responsive, i know u can get the full boost to around 2800rpm with some mods. Want it to be a full TWISTIES king. I think the standard R34 GTR guise is the best kit possible. Subtle but mean. Not a very big fan of any of the GT-T kit's i've seen, a lot of them are VERY 2f2f. Well that's my plan if i got a car. But dream is obviously a R34 GTR, and as soon as i'm outta uni, proper job, i'm gonna find a way to get one. Should be around high $60's mid $70K's by that time. Never gonna feel like i should be posting on these forums, or going to cruises without actually having a Skyline, and i would LOVE to throw common sense/logic out the window and just get the car and not worry about the house. But i guess i'm starting to realise that i'm in a pretty good position to set myself up for later on in life. But f*ck, i would KILL for a R34 GT-T, and pretty much dream of driving one every night. cheers.

R34 GT or R33 GTR V-Spec ??
SS8_Gohan replied to iNCOGNiTO's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
:drooling: Beautiful, beautiful car... hey james, were u driving down St. Kilda rd towards flinders st and like 4pm Fri arvo, heard a nice exhaust walking down Dorcas, turn around and see an awesome midnight purple R33 with what looked like bronze rims cruising along. Def GTR too, i assum that was urself?? so is ur pride and joy (no, not the Lada ) all back in working order?? been quite a while hasn't it? anyways, i'm sure a R34 GT-T would be cheaper too, whilst i'd prob go with the R33 GTR V-Spec if the price wasn't a problem, but if it was i'd prob go with the GT-T cheers. -
R34 GTR VSpec, looking to buy.
SS8_Gohan replied to Kris's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
yeah, both of ur are totally correct. I guess i've been checking for GT-T's too much, low km's 10 - 20k i think would be quite easy to find. By the way K, what's the Audi S3 like? I'm looking at it along with the GT-T. Seems like a real nice car. Got all the trimming you could want, leather, subtle kit, nice rims, CD etc. Full boost at something crazy like 1500rmps What's she really like?? Don't seem to be many around at all, is it possible to get one for like 30-35K?? cheers. -
R34 GTR VSpec, looking to buy.
SS8_Gohan replied to Kris's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Bling? well look set to put down anywhere from say mid $70g's for what i reckon would be a pretty rough car, so more realistically mid $80K's to a full bling bling example for $100. Km's?? well i reckon u could find some genuine low k's, specially for cars as good as these. 20-30K prob wouldn't be that unusual but prob looking more 40-50K. R34 GTR does have a monitor which i THINK comes standard with a TV, BUT there are things have to be done so that it works in Oz, i believe they dont' come STANDARD with Nav and DVD, actually i'm pretty damn sure. But prob wouldn't be too hard to find one which has had it done, seems the monitor is already there. www.carpoint.com.au has some GTR's sometimes, give that a burl. Also check out SAU's classifieds. Or u could import one urself. www.upimports.com.au, www.j-spec.com.au, www.prestigemotorsport.com.au, all good places to go. In fact, there is a R34 GTR VSpec up for sale here in Melb, but getting to u in Sydney shouldn't be a prob. PM a guy called 'vspecv', just find him on members list, give him a PM, he's got one for sale. Not sure if it's sold yet or not. Interior/Build quality. Being a nissan, and a skyline, and a R34 GTR i don't think ur going to have too many probs in terms of quality. I think the R34's a pretty much bullet proof. 22yo?? Man, i want ur job whatever it is ... um, insurance will most def be a killer. maybe $3 - 3.5K conservatively? www.prosperion.com.au, if u wanna do a lease sorta thing. Insurance will work out REAL cheap, no matter what ur age or car. Besides that, awesome car. Prob speak for majority of ppl on here saying it's our dream car... well it's definitely my dream car. Good luck with ur researching, i don't think u can really go wrong with a R34 GTR. cheers. -
i saw it on TopGear (yes, so info source is very dodgy) but it was quite a while ago, so couldn't remember exact specs. If u look at my original post i wrote 50,000,000 (50 million ) i was just emphasing the revving ability of the twin bike engines. I was being literal silly HSVKLR: Well obviously i'm thinking of another car. I was soo sure it was called the Zonda tho, was the fastest car they had taken around their track that they got. Anyway, this OTHER zonda sounds crazy!! So does anyone know of a twin motorbike powered car from the UK? or am i just on drugs??

RB20DET KW's Per Litre is Better than RB25DET? Why?
SS8_Gohan replied to Cubes's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
the 208 kw's for the 2.6 (RB26DETT) is tad conservative isn't it? Aren't they like more 280kw's stock at the fly? cheers. -
the knowledge base in this forum astonishes me
SS8_Gohan replied to badman's topic in General Automotive Discussion
yeah, i agree with Revhead. Trust me, there was no ill intent regarding RedLineGTR's post, he just wanted to know what was going on... I too would like to thank all u peeps out there in SAU land. I don't even have a Skyline! but have gained and learned A LOT from here over the past year or so. I think one of my first post was "what does a turbo do?" , can we all say n-e-w-b-i-e? heheh. But everyone here is hella cool and 99% will be super helpful. I'm also amazed at the wealth/depth of knowledge on these forums and most of the talk is waaay over my head most the time, but i'm slowly getting there. welcome and cheers!
