ok ok....jokes aside (yes, i was on the floor laughing), thanks to akeenan and mango, mazda have decided to stick with the Rotary for the new RX-8, so they must like something about them. Look the RX-7 is wicked, and so are Skylines. Simple as that. Maybe the twin turbo, Series 6/7 RX-7's are more than a match for the GT-T, probably better put head to head against a GTR, but i think we've established the fact the RX-7's are SEX ON WHEELS, and handle/go better than a GT-T, GTS-T, but for a practical daily, awesome performance, car, the R34 GT-T is the go... but yes, we would like a RX-7...

heheh, it's ok to like other cars besides Skylines mango....really!

yeah akeenan, u r right, i was going to get a R33 GTS-T but remember the whole parents thing...so they said i gotta wait a year, and yeah i know this whole thing is only going to be relevant next November, but i just thought that i'd get some opinions now, so when i have the money next Nov, i'll have more of an idea what to do with it...and no, i'm not dreaming, i will have enough money for a R34 GT-T, but to find a local RX-7 might be pushing it...altho i found a few at autotrader.com.au in my price range...so it might be possible. But i think for my second car the R34 GT-T may be the way to go, i'm looking for more of a daily driver and one that is more reliable, and i think the skyline can take those two spots. I was reading about that Silver-Arrowz, quite a few single turbo setups have been down over in the US, seems to be pretty popular. I really appreciate all the opinions, and it's a bit hard to guess at prices a full year out, so we'll see what happens then, but i think at the moment, the R34 GT-T is the way to go for someone who doesn't know alot about car engines, i think the RX-7 is bit more of a purist car, not to say i won't have my hands full with a 1450kg, 208kw car , but for a daily driver, i think the Skyline can take that spot.
-
lucky bastard!! i've gotta wait a whole year to get my car...whateva it is, most prob a R34 GT-T, or maybe late model R33....but the R34 has got more goodies standard, and it's newer and rarer. Plus the Neo RB25DET, 206kw.... :uh-huh: :uh-huh: So u don't know how to warm a car up properly?....
-
DivX??? Hey Ronin, where'd u find that??? cos i'm pretty new to Skylines, and all the models, i didn't even realise that they had the GTR's running all those years back... anyways, Ronin, if you would be so kind to point me in the direction where these DivX's are at, i would really appreciate it. I got cable, so it shouldn't be too bad.

ohhhhhhhhhhh...........got ya. Forgot about that.

thanks for the opinions guys, hahahah, "sex on wheels" and "PURE SEX", i think that is the general consensus of most ppl here......they definitely look damn fine yeah, the compliance for the RX-7 at J-Spec is like $9,500  but i think local is the way to go, agree with ur there tlai909. so u can't bring in pre 1999 RX-7's under the new import scheme's??? Or u never could?? i even try and look after my little pulsar i've got, 1.6ltr 4 cylinder. Try and warm her up everytime i drive her, but i'm not exactly sure how long for?? When u warm a car up, do u rev it a little for like 5 - 10 mins, or u just turn it on and leave it for a little bit?? What's the correct thing to do when warming up a car... 10,000 Revs!!! I ....don't think i'll have to worry abou that, whatever i get, i don't think i'll be going that hard. But i think u have a point there Silver Arrowz, daily drive, the R34 GT-T might be the go, and it would be newer too most probably. I had a quick search on google, but i couldn't really find much info on the RX-7, did see the "Series....X" thing come up a few times, does that have to do with year models?? I know there is the Twin Turbo, but do they come with anything else, or is that it?? Like N/A or Single Turbo?? thanks for the input guys, appreciate it.

hey guys, i never really thought about an RX-7 as an option for a car, but i was looking at j-specs auction results, and some prices at places like carpoint.com.au...and the two cars are sort of priced the same...RX-7 tending to be a little more. For those who know about the RX-7's, or better still, driven or driving one....any thoughts on them compared to the R34 GT-T's would be great, like reliability, servicing, stuff like that. They got rotary engines yeah?? I've seen some listed as Twin Turbos, do they come with 1 turbo? May as well get a GTR for the price of some of the Twin Turbos. I know this is a Skyline forum, but the RX-7's do look damn sexy, don't know how much of a punch they pack, but i've heard some good things so yeah, any opinions would be much appreciated.

that's exactly what i was thinking brendan.....DAMN that's low!! couldn't run over a piece of paper in ur car!!

turn a GT-T front into a GTR??
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
ylwgtr: next november, i'll pm ya bout it I don't mind about the guards, that does really bother me. Yeah...thought u might need a new bonnet, fibreglass wouldn't bother me at all....altho i'd have to get it sprayed.... headlights??? u sure? i know the photos are taken at different angles, but i would have though the headlights would be the same. ylwgtr how do u make the moulds?? i guess if there a no places selling after market kits, then i'd guess u'd have to help me out. How much do u think it will cost all up to make a bonnet and front bar, and spray it as well?? wouldn't happen to be in melb by any chance? thanks for the offer tho, i'll definitely chase it up when i get the car. -
hey guys, just wondering whether this can be done or not..... would u have to buy a new bonnet? could u cut the existing one?? obvious need new front bar, but is the grille on the GTR all connected to the front bar?? cos it looks like it is all joined together.... any thoughts or actually experiences of this happening would be very much appreciated.. and if it hasn't been done before, can it be done?? thanks.

That blue R34 GTR cruising the North Shore Streets
SS8_Gohan replied to Blitz's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
did they put the 170kw, 3 litres in the old Z3? mmm...didn't know that...suprised that it's slow, cos the 5 series with that engine is quick, i'd imagine that that Z3 would be really quick with it.....maybe it's a different engine and the 170kw doesn't fit in the Z3.. well i was reading the Drive part of the Age on sat, and it said that the Z4 will be driven and reviewed on Thursdays Drive, so we'll see then how everything turns out... is the GTR (which this whole thread is about...sort of ) had a respray, or is that the factory R34 GTR blue??? cos i'm looking at getting a blue GT-T, just wondering if it would look like that in that lighting..... -

yeah, offered in 2.5 and 3.0 engines.....straight sixes of course :D . we got a 530i '00, and that thing really goes, but it's like 1650kg kerb weight, throw that 170kw engine into a little Z4......:drooling: :jump: supposedly 0 - 100km under 6, like 5.8secs....oh yeah....bring on the MZ4? M4? M Roadster again?? I think would more than give the gts-t's a run for their money. -

i'd be thinking long and hard about the new Z4, supposedly a Boxster beater, awesome looking car too. For indicators, they use the BMW symbol, slightly raised above the side panel surface, and it's ringed by the orange indicator, how cool is that!!!! but yeah, if they are going for 90K, be hard not to put in 10 more for a R34 GTR..... as for preferences of different GTR models..um....i'm still deciding whether i like the R33 shape more thant he R34 (only discovered there was actually an R34 about 4 - 5months ago....i know...NEWBIE! ) yeah, still haven't made my mind up on which one i like better.... -
what is an RH9? i'm guessing it has something to do with being in the 9 second bracket for 1/4 mile?? different engine. i keep seeing it pop up every now and then, but never know what a RH9 Skyline is??

bitch session, i was just owning everyone regarding all this "lateral" thinking stuff. My last few posts were all about 'general automotive' related. I was talking about all the gizmo's in the BMW's, and stuff. Damn, soon as i own all in the argument, the thread goes and gets killed... :)

What the hell is wrong with insurance company's
SS8_Gohan replied to Dragon18's topic in General Automotive Discussion
sorry tgriffin can't help ya... that's my u don't go under parents name or something, ur not getting a rating as u drive.....damn cheap tho... just cars was the same for me, 1 month, 4500, then next month 6700, now it's 4712, so i have no fcking clue either.... yep, xcuzme, i was quoted $108,000 for an R33......  -
hmmmmmm....akeenan, got my thinking buddy, how much would a R34 GT-T go for, like the first model, is it 97 or 98?? in a years time???? Could well be a possibility, with like a 35K budget. what do u think??? i have absolutely NO IDEA wat a R34 GT- T goes for, like a 97 or 98...... warpspeed, that ford of urs sounds like a little ripper!! wish i was "gaining experience" on a little hot car, i reckon be heaps of fun. funkymoneky: insurance high bcos i'm 18 and have 7 months of insurance history. do u think a R33 GTS would keep it's value or even go up?? i think they are a bit common to sell for the same price i bought it for in 2 years or so. I'm just happy (sort of) to wait a year or so, bcos then parents will put in more money, and i'll get a better car and have a better rating....but i'm really interested in this R34 idea :uh-huh: :uh-huh:
-
only 1 difference, i prefer the Series 1 silver to the Series 2. or does the Series 2 have a normal silver???? dunno......... hehehe, "damn that's fast" twice!! yeah, looking to buy pretty stock altho.....i'll have enuf money to buy a series 2......but i'd be putting a GTR grille on whateva 'line i get, and with the Series 2 i'd have to change bonnet or something.....fck it, i'll have enuf money to mod, i'l just get a carbon bonnet and get a custom paint job!! oh well....we'll see what happens next november.

i must not being writing something right, but i've got enough for either a turbo or N/A... i've come to the exact same conclusion as u Tgriffin, sick of the Poosar, want a skyline...and yes, i know i won't be happy unless i get a turbo, u'll think for the first couple of months, ah yeah..this ain't too bad, then....u'll be.....i really wish i got a turbo. So i'm doing the same, continuing to save and hopefully get one in full years time, and by then the parents are going to be putting in about 10K, so it's their fcking fault that they're missing out on their chance to put in the least amount of money now....oh well, by next year i'll have around 22-25K on my own, plus 10K from them, i'll be laughing and they'll be wishing they helped me get one sooner.......but the car will only cost 20K i reckon, so i'll just a have a crapload to spend on mods... warpspeed, i will keep looking, but i think for now, i'll just continue to save, i also looked at a the GTS-4, and thought that would be much better than a GTS, but, same as u, definitely want a manual, and yep, they're pretty hard to find. And damn it, i WILL get a full Silver skyline! first off i also want a stock 'line, altho, by the time i get one, i won't mind as much. Heheeheh, i think age is playing a difference here, cos i'd love a GTR kit, not too keen on the rear wing, i like the Series 2 one's better, but definitely the front bar with the grille as well....mmmmm:uh-huh: But no badges, couldn't bring myself to put GTR badges on a nomral tubro......GTR..hmmm.....in a couple of years, i'll have about 35K, plus some input from parents.......woh, nup, not jumping straight into a GTR, even "I" don't want to do that, i'll go turbo, then twin turbo thanks! well it looks like in about a year, i'll start looking turbo again...see whats going down in the importing scene as well. One of my friends is looking at a 4WD Laser Turbo, how do they go warpspeed?
