Black Rock hey warpspeed?? Cool, ur definitely right.....bayside way is a real nice place to live, i couldn't think of any other place in melb, can't beat the beach. Where bouts in Black Rock are u? i've got a couple mates in Black Rock, and a few in Beaumaris as well, but most of friends live near me, Sandy, Hampton, Brighton. I've definitely keeping my eye open for N/A skylines, decided i didn't want go to the hassle to import a N/A....but i mean the N/A are only going for about 1K less than a Turbo, so there is little difference...and i really don't think i'll be making money on it when i re-sell it. I'm at the stage now that i've got the money sitting in the bank, i won't spend it now, sell and save up again, i'll just keep saving from now....so in about 1-2yrs, when i'm apparently "ready" to drive a turbo, i'll have........22-25K, but my parents said what they did for one (my bro, just bought a 28K VW Golf 2.0ltr for him.............*sigh*, he does have to pay some back, but i've yet to find out how much, and i don't think he even has the ability to pay back any money....) they'll do for me......oh no.....they're not getting off that easily, i'm making them put a hell of alot more into the car i get in a couple of years, which will leave me a HEAP left over to do whatever i want. I'm goin to start a post next year with "10K to spend on R33 GTS-T, what should i do??" then it will be like a SAU skyline, with input from everyone.....don't worry, parents will wish they chipped in for the car i want now :uh-huh: So it's saving time for me, but when i do get it, i will have enough money to spend on the car to make it a pretty decent track/drag weapon. p.s. i'm still going to push the test-drive thing....maybe a miracle might be round the corner??

Soarer's, yep had a real long think about them as well. For like 16K i could get TV/GPS, leather, cd, rear moutned camera for parking, park sensors, everything u could think of. But the engines are either, Twin Turbo or V8's. I thought i'd be ok in a GTS-t, but Twin or V8??? not sure...altho the skyline would prob be quicker, i also didn't want such a heavy car....but they were a VERY close second....trust me. Holden's?? besides the usual long standing hatred that everyone has....once again heavy car, lots of petrol (yeah, turbo a bit of guzzler as well) but mainly the fact that i don't like them and that really, no potential that i'd keep it and make something of it....where as a jap import, i would. I thought if i could afford to get a pretty unique car which offered alot, why not? yeah i could afford a commodore, but really....why? yep, japanese cars have a lot to offer in the unique/luxury/fast department, lucky for us, not TOO many ppl know about it. it is a dilema :uh-huh: don't worry, i'll drive careful. my car does 0 - 100 in....well she might be there, next time i talk to ya! and same to u, hope u find the car of ur dreams....and send me pics when do , might just have to take dad's 530i more often for consolation u've been a great help exit, putting this all into perspective, i'm still fcking pissed off...but about 1% less so talk to ya soon

one word...EXIT.....wise.... look, i understand completely everything you've just said, and yes i do have a normal car (nissan pulsar hatchback gli 1.6ltr, 4 cyclinder) hence the reason to upgrade, and the only reason why i'm think of upgrading is bcos i have a decent job that can afford not only the GTS-t but also the upkeep and insurance. if i was driving the car every day, into the city, uni, across the suburbs, then maybe i would re-think jumping into a 187kw car, but driving down beach road at 60km/h for 10 mins, then taking the train to the City i don't believe needs lots of experience. Granted, i will drive a lot more with a decent car, but it still all be local, work is in the city also, so it's cheaper to go by train. That's why i was thinking getting a turbo at my age would be ok. that's a sad story exit and i've been in cars driven by friends doing some crazy stuff, and there has been a few crashes amongst my friends, luckily nothing too serious. But i know you won't believe me, but i really am not like ur typical 18, i've worked real hard to save up my 11K (12 soon), the last thing i wanna do is thrash the crap out of my car at every light, i saw a turbo Audi and Supra racing the other day, 60km/h roads, parked cars, busy.....sorry, that just ain't for me..... why get a turbo u ask? cos i plann on doin it up (when i'm older, wasn't even thinking of modding it if i got it) for maybe track days, drags, love to try it on a track. I'm also thinking long term, resale value, i'm sure i could sell a Silver, turbo, manual pretty easy if i needed too. And i know that if i look after it, it will last, which i was planning on it doing. And also cos the whole new crappy import scheme, limited time to get a cheap turbo...... EXIT, despite what u may think, i thought pretty long whether i wanted to get turbo or not, it wasn't like, i'm 18 and want a fast car. But after looking around and seeing what little i would get for my budget, the skyline just seemed the way to go. I still don't think u can beat it value for money, reliability, handling, looks, performance, and ability to increase the performance considerably (when i'm older).......to me, 16K for all that seemed a bargain............oh well, the argument is mute now anyway........perhaps ur wise head of urs and my parents complete disinterest of cars and what they mean to me might have saved my life....who knows... /rant
-
oh...i wasn't referring to ur specific colt doxximus, just trying to picture buying one..... anyways, had a big blow up with the parents over the whole Turbo issue, i am not being biased here, but i completely owned them in the argument, it pretty much came down to the old "i don't like skylines" and "no turbo", why not? "cos", i had an answer to absolutely everything and then some...wouldn't even agree to a test-drive in one, prob cos he'd get out and realise that i could handle one, but then he'd be wrong and he can't have that. fcking parents, don't know jack sh!t, argh!!!!! i am soooooooooo fcking angry right now that it's not funny........this pretty much means i will not be getting a skyline for at least a year (if not a lot longer, they wouldn't even say when i could get one) as it will take about that much time to get about 18k together, bcos god damn it i want a silver skyline, and they are all expensive!! but if imported from japan i could get exactly what i want right now, for about 16.5K, but noooo..... i am fcking close to tears i am this disappointed...... p.s. just have to add this....then they turn around and say, "for 17K, you could get a nice new lancer???" ARGHHHHHHHHH!!! WHAT A BUNCH OF FCKING MORONS!!!!!  R33 GTS-t or lancer sh;t box? ........just have parents with absolutely no fcking clue... /cry

going to the SAS?? i don't get it  -
where can i get a RB26DETT Colt???? wouldn't mind one of those!! that would be a weapon.....i can just see, panels all different colours cos they've been replaced, rust everywhere, rocking up to a drag.....hehehe, be funny. What's ur GTS like doxximus, she go alright?? Money? not a prob, can afford either a turbo or n/a
-
so how did u get around it croat?? what was the thing u said or did that made them say that it's ok?? Dad has test driven a N/A and he said there wasn't much punch to it....but he does a fast car himself, BMW 530i '01, .......but that is only 170Kw.....i'm just thinking....it could work in my favour, cos he might step outta the GTS-t and think, ah...it ain't that fast......or he might go, fkcing hell!!!! what was that???.......so, it could be the last resort. I'll keep that in mind tho.....but yeah, again, what was it that made ur parents let u get a turbo?? Don't worry, everything is worked out, money, insurance, had a license since real early this year, so the only thing left is the parents
-
you've hit the nail on the head there warpspeed, just wondering if i should bother with the hassle of importing when i could get a N/A here.....only thing is that i would love a silver one, like all silver not the two tone. That colour and N/A, and manual....be pushing it i think, that's the thing with importing, you will wait, but you will also get exactly what you want....but i'll definitely have a look around...good idea..
-
could be a little out of the budget i'm guessing...any idea what they go for??
-
GTR?? I can assure you that i'll be driving one eventually, around 25yrs old??...if i'm lucky and have a good job (which is why i'm buying a skyline the first place cos i've got a job that pays well) i might have a R34 GTR! but would more than happy with a R33 GTR, it's definitely on the wish list......but i just want to learn how to drive a car properly, how to get out of a skid, locked brakes, rev matching, all those things, but i think trying to do those in a pulsar hatchback might not be the greatest...
-
thanks warspeed. I really appreciate the advice, but it's soooo damn hard to get the turbo option off the drawing board!!! just not sure that if i got a N/A that i'd be able to get rid of it, to buy a GTS-T when they think i'm able to get one...that's another issue, i know a N/A won't be as much as a turbo, so i won't be spending as much, so that will be a plus....but for all the hassle of importing..........just not sure. And i know it will only be like 3 - 6months before they realise that it's not a problem, take them out in the car every now and then, i know they think they are doing the responsible thing by not letting me get a fast car, but they have just swallowed too much of the today tonight crap, i can assure you i'm am not like those guys.....i worked bloody hard to get the car in the first place, why would the first i do be thrashing the crap out of it and burning the clutch out dragging every car i see???? doesn't make sense....... anyways warpseepd, i've taken ur advice on board, and am really considering it....cos skylines are such awesome cars, i don't think i'd be too disappointed with a N/A ...
-
insurance is all worked out.....kinda.....$638 Third Party Fire and Theft, i know it's not the ideal situation but full comp is $4712, not too bad considering age and car. But i've only got a few months left until i'm rating 5, so that will make it $3800 full comp. Then i think 20% reduction every rating. I have enough money to buy a turbo...but....my parents are putting in 5K, so i'm putting in 11 to 12K.....so i think it would be a bit hard to get around the fact that i'm getting a turbo, i really don't think there is anyway i could hide it, and i don't want to think about the consequences when i get it here, and i show dad what's under the hood and he says.................... "what's that hairdryer looking thing???"" uh.....:innocent:.....that's...just what all the RB engines look like.... i know insurance is a bitch, but it is the same for ANY car, not just a skyline. They wanted $2500 for my Nissan Pulsar hatchback GLi, 1.6ltr 4 cyclinder!!! ANY car full comp is too much at my age, so it doesn't matter what i get basically. Their main concern is that i don't have enough experience to drive a turbo, which in a way is wrong bcos if i don't have enough experience on the road then ANY car i'm in will be dangerous...i think they more mean, i don't have the skills to drive a turbo. Which i agree, but i said i'd pay for an advance driving course and do all the stuff and in a couple of months i'll be fine. I barely drive as it is, like only 10min trips 5 times a week. That's it, i don't think i need heaps of experience to drive down beach road at sixty, even if i was in the bloody Enzo Ferrair!! .......*sigh*, it's just that i know i'll get a turbo eventually be it next year, or 18months but i want to take the chance to get a cheap one now, while i've still got it that's all..........so ur overall opinion, import the N/A or just wait to get the turbo?? thanks guys
-
hey guys, just wanting to get ur opinion on something....is there any point going to the hassle of importing a N/A R33 GTS?????? no offence to the other N/A owners out there, what i mean is that cos it's sort of 'involved' to import a car, and when i'll be getting a turbo in the end anyway (only 18) just wondering if i should just wait to get a turbo, or go ahead and import a N/A now before everything gets all shitty with the importing. and for those wondering why i don't just get a turbo straight away (and i have enough money) is parent issues...don't get me started.... :D i'm still working on them, but it's not looking good.... appreciate the help/advice thanks.

don't know about NSW xcuzme, but in Vic, Just Cars, 18 yr old, 7 months of insurance hist, R33 GTS-t, Third Pary F + T, $638 Full comp, $4712. Which isn't too bad considering age and car. But Vic, Third Party, is still fine for turbos, must be different in NSW.

hhahahaha, become sensible ..... get this, i put 23.66 in my nissan pulsar gli hatchback, 1.6ltr 4 cyclinder, and it lasted me over a month!!! :P Admitted i don't drive much, like 5 times a week and like 20 mins each time...but i was still happy well mate, it was great chatting with ya, hopefully and get the parents to come round and i'll be cruising round with ya in the skylines. But going from a car with 74kw (if that, i don't know??) to 187kw might take a little getting use to... got uni tomorrow, and it's gettin on. Thanks so much for all the help and advice, really appreciate it. I'll talk to ya soon! cya -
yep, drive careful. That's the plan....i only drive like....5 times a week and those 5 trips are all the same, 6 min trips, in suburbs. And sometimes to the golf course. I know i'll be driving heaps more, but that's basically wat i do, so i thought for that sort of driving i should be ok.

190, 200, lost license??? i would like to think that i wouldn't try that and be a responsible skyline driver, but from talking to the other guys here...i think something must changed once they step in a skyline This is what my parents are worrying about with the turbo, they think i'll be hooning off everywhere. Which is wrong, it's not the reason i want that car. Yes they are fast, but i love the look, they are quite unique, i've heard real good things about handling and all round driveability and in a couple of years when i want to do some engine mods, i'll have a car that can take it. Not so i can just go trash it straightaway and a roll it in a ditch, but they are current affair watchers and all that crap, so they swallow the whole stereo type thing hook line and sinker. -

yeah, i know kangaroo road...that's bloody brave hehehe, top speed? knowing u, being all car savy, u've prob cut the infamous #53 wire or watever and then leave me stranded at 180!! :P i told her my limit of 16 - 17k on road, and she didn't seem to think that it couldn't be done. Are they more expensive than say.....J-Spec or Geoff at Prestige Motorsport?? or Edge? -

service urself??? now that's the way to go......if i knew what to do! They had a R32 GTR being complianced when i was in there, and they gave it a bit of a rev..........:uh-huh: :uh-huh: that was awesome!!! i think it was there way of trying to persuade me to buy one! just gotta try and convince the parents bout the whole thing, that's my last hurdle, they don't want me getting a turbo....but yeah, hana seems real nice and willing to help and stuff. was the 17K on the road??? Damn, that's like my budget, i want a stock standard R33 GTS-t Silver (full silver, not the half one) for like 16 - 17K, but if i got around 17 i'd have to borrow a little bit... -

yeah just did the calculations myself, 1.38 tonnes, 187kw/1.38 tonnes = 135.507kw per tonne.........u needed a professor for that??? That's weird, the new SEVS scheme has the RB25DET at 127/tonne....go figure... Yeah, spoke heaps to Hana, she said something about going to down to vic roads with me...they also mentioned an 18 a couple of moths ago gettin one, but he rolled it apparently...... carnegie? red ace be pretty handy for u, not that far. U get ur car serviced there?? -

SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in General Automotive Discussion
thanks akeenan, oh...and thanks for Red Ace Motors, i have 2 choices, import myself and they can hold a plate and do the compliancing for me, but they also have offered to bring in a car for me as well, added bonuses are that they own the car on the way over, so if anything goes wrong, they have to bare (??spellin) the costs, like sitting on the docks at 50 bucks a day. And there is also a 3 month warranty as well, u don't get that if u get a broker to help u bring one in. I thought they go on the kw/tonne ratio?? And i've got figures of 125 - 127kw/tonne for the R33 GTS-T, so i was wondering what Vic roads had, but SteveR33 said it wasn't listed, so either it's just on the limit, or just under......who know's... -
to all those "P" platers out there...
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in General Automotive Discussion
ok, u might not have power restrictions in NSW, in VIC we have a Kw/tonne ratio, so P platers are only allowed to drive a car 125kw/tonne or under, anything over is a no no. That's why Mark Philopoosus (yeah i know it's wrong, but looks funnily spelt like that) couldn't get a ferrari when he was on his p's, cos it was too powerful. But, SteveR33 already helped me out saying that the R33 GTS-t isn't classified over the 125kw/tonne ratio, so all is good. But thanks again tgriffin. -
oooo..........that's not good i guess i don't live in a dodgy area, so it could be okay.... thanks tgriffin

if i have 3rd party fire and theft, someone hits me, so an accident which isn't my fault, does that mean i have to pay for my repairs??
