R34 Turbo Op6 Perfect Condition
SS8_Gohan replied to Harey's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
fantastic price guys! great upgrade for the RB20 crowd as well. My old turbo went to an RB20 owner. -
agreed, that's why i said "give the context" - fine for the workshop, crappy if the car leaves the workshop.

some of the big workshops will use the standard ECU as THE tuning ECU. They will tune it to the specific build/engine. Yes people like Mines etc have ones you can buy off the shelf, but they will also use the standard ECU (modified somehow) for their builds as well. So if you got a workshop built car with a workshop flashed ECU, that wouldn't be an off the shelf item. It would have fully customised maps just like any aftermarket one would have. which isn't the silly given the context, as the standard ECU obviously does things well like cold start, idle etc. I believe the newer Evo owners tend to keep the stock ECU and get it flashed. There are benefits sometimes to keeping factory items, albeit tweaked a little

R34 Gtr Computer With Mines Plaque On It?
SS8_Gohan replied to livewire's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
i would say not worth a box of biscuits unless it's still attached to the car it was tuned for and even then it'll cause headaches. You can't tune it, so you can't change your cars setup basically and you won't be able to use it in another car or you're asking for massive trouble. i'm assuming it's a VX rom, but good luck being able to find someone who can do anything with it - you're most likely c) lock it in eddie -
just some food for thought (and a bit of a shameless plug) whilst the R badge is alluring, i wouldn't count out a well sorted rwd RB25, especially for street duties. 290rwkw, my car is quicker than even most modified GTR's - had a kit that makes most people think it is a GTR. Has the ultra, uber expensive rear diffuser (yes it does make a difference) - friendlier engine and gearbox for around town, and cheaper in the modification/maintenance stakes. GTR rims which sit perfect on a GTT as compared to a GTR. Plus you'll have a bunch of cash left over to do a HEAP more things if you really want. something to ponder on perhaps plus you can't beat black on black

the "flashed ecu's" aren't always just off the shelf tunes - some of the big workshops will use the standard ECU just like a remap. Not sure the reason why some of the top workshops do this, maybe they feel that with their builds and their tunes, they don't usually have problems and so won't let people fiddle. Or they just want to lock their customers in to their workshop. i wonder if they all have different software packages or what they use to turn the standard ECU into something that can be flashed. maybe all just nistune remaps

well, if you were looking for an apprentice for a speciality workshop (like Sabbadin is), why not try and pick-up one that already knows their way around the majority of cars that are worked on? All credit to them as well for coming on here to let people know, i'm sure the spot will be filled easily but if it can get to an import enthusiast who's already familiar with the cars, it's a win win really.

meh, bout 40mins from me, happy to make the drive. Always happy to drive an extra bit of time to take the car to a place that knows what they're doing.

how'd you make more power on E70 scotty compared to E85?
-
you would have to be ULTRA dedicated to car maintenance if you wanted a complete flat finish, orange peel free finish - mucho time required to keep it looking mickey mouse what colour is the fezza and benz mate?

stupid forum deleting my post... Ferrari has been CC from about 360 onwards afaik. MB started around mid 2003 (it was a system MB wanted developed) and the paint codes will have a C in it somewhere. What's the code for your 360 Kujotk? i don't know if the same naming convention carries across all manu's. i don't work for any spray shop, and if i did, how the hell could you judge the level of my work from a thread that doesn't' show any work what-so-ever?? what a random comment mate, don't get all sooky pants because you've got your info mixed up. pretty much the high end car companies will have materials supplied by PPG. ie... Notice there are quite a few metallic options in there, standard. Just because most the fezza's getting around are solid colours doesn't mean you couldn't get one like that standard. You could get two types of blue, a silver, a grey, a black and i think a metallic red/wine if you wanted. i'm not disagreeing for disagreements sakes, i'm just trying to set things straight. It seems in my opinion, and further backed up by Sam, that you've become a little confused about car paint. We're just trying to tell you how it actually is. And on that... Lambo's are painted at the Sant'Agata factory in Italy I would say it's a leap of faith to claim a "clear coat makes a car", You always need a good base colour (and whether it be multiple layers to get a certain effect) but if the clear is clear, it's clear. It's how it's presented that makes the difference. I guess we just have some differences of opinions on some things. Exotics are special cars, no doubt, and most people would give their left nut for one but when it comes to paint, there isn't anything special other than the hand painted options offered (like the Lambo pearl colours) and the reality is that most high end cars are covered by PPG materials and that's basically it. any clear will chip - it's nonsensical to compare clears from different manu's based on how many chips they've got?? that's what i mean, just random comments...

i see your essay and raise you... whilst it's great to see people wanting to take good care of their cars etc, take them to good trades people - you're a long way off the mark with this paragraph. Exotics are painted like any other car, primer, base colour, clear. Just the same as any Holden would be painted. You may get some hand painted action going on with different marques but the process is the same be it human or robot. There isn't really a correlation between $$ spent on a car and flatness of paint. If you buy a solid red Hyundai, you won't be getting any 'glittery metallic' effect. If you buy a solid red Ferrari, you won't be getting any 'glittery metallic effect' - Metallic is metallic. Again, same process regardless of manufacturer. Metallic chips are added to the paint colour in order to make it..... metallic. That's it. Not sure which ones you're talking about but most exotics would be on CeramiClear these days, i know Ferrari has for quite a few years (MB developed) and same for the mass luxury cars as well (bmw/audi/mercedes) - hence, CeramiClear compliant polishes. CeramiClear is the opposite of what you're saying, it's designed to be a hardier clear to withstand car ownership a easier. The exotics/luxo's have less chances of swirls, etc over a given period. The are the opposite of 'very soft clear' it's about as hard as you can get The 'fineness' of a metallic flake (as it's known) is dependent on the desired outcome. The flake on the Nissan GV1 (Black Pearl) is very fine, compared to say the silver of a subaru or the night hawk blue of a honda where the chips appear larger, but that also results in a paint that 'pops' more. Can look absolutely fantastic and the relative coarseness of a metallic paint isn't a quality issue, it's an aesthetic choice (the coarser flake can be 'mica' chips) There is no such thing as permanent 'wet look'. You're probably referring to how 'glossy' a paint is, but again, exotics definitely aren't going to win any gu level contests off the factory floor. Lexus lead the way in paint anyway IMO, hardly exotic. Should see how glossy their black cars are, fantastic. Quite flat paint too from factory. basically just incorrect, sorry. Swirls are swirls, besides a dead flat solid black (which you won't get from any car new), they're only going to show up more depending on colour. And considering the high end car makes on CeramiClear or a harder clear, they'll be LESS swirly than your typical mass produced car. Given most german/exotics are on ceramiclear or a harder clear, provided you have a CeramiClear compliant polish, if anything they'll be easier to rectify than other cars. The worse culprits? Jap clear, renowned for being very soft and easily marked, can be quite sticky at times as well (you can put some of the aussie clears in the sticky boat too) Basically, exotic paint is no different than any other car. Current crop, they are easier to maintain than say a hyundai, and won't give anywhere near as much grief detailing compared to most Jap cars. We have gone a long way off topic here, but hopefully it's been helpful to someone. And as the owner was wanting someone to be meticulous with his/her car? how meticulous do you want? you'd like this one kutjotk, definitely up your alley

* 1998 R34 Gt-t W/ Genuine East Bear Gts-r Kit *
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
here's the 98 tune - you can see how much fatter the power is after the turbo upgrade - and this only the 98 tune, still gotta find the E85 one -
it's fairly straight forward. what i meant is that to point out "he has done a lot of exotics" doesn't actually give you any indication of how good a detailer is, and generally speaking these cars are looked after better than a normal car, hence a detailers life is made easier by looking after exotics exclusively. Comprende?

hahaha, Jeebus would use E85, no, no... Jeebus would turn water into E85. Yep, that's about right Raigeki, E85 is around 105 Octane, hence it's ability to run more advanced timing. I gained around 30-35rwkw between 98 and E85. Compressions test before and after (about 18months in between) have been near enough to perfect. It is a fantastic fuel which practically eliminates the chance of detonation. When tuning with E85 the actual 'sweet spot' or the point that makes the most power is actually a long way from the point of detonation. A very safe fuel and does a fantastic job of essentially cleaning the car at the same time. For those that have done tear-downs after running E85 report very clean internals (E85 clears out all the carbon build-up afaik) i'll put the dyno sheets up, i think i have them on file somewhere. RWC can be arranged -
Trent does work on aussie cars as well (holden/fords) i'm sure he'd be able to sort you out Cheqeuered/Status Tuning

doing exotics is NO judge of how good a detailer is. If anything, it makes their life easier by refusing to touch normal cars... to the OP, have a chat to Damian - i guarantee you will not find a better detailer in Australia

......oookkk if your post was sarcastic it would essentially imply the opposite of what is observed; which in your case and Charle's case, the posts themselves are pretty much how it is, hence, they're a fairly accurate observation. sarcasm that does not make. better luck next time and to the OP, yes you may use my pics -
