  1. quite a good, comprehensive article http://theage.drive.com.au/motor-news/is-s...0806-11mog.html
  2. as i said, works best when your paint/LSP are in good nick - otherwise considering where we live and how much water is available, i wouldn't recommend unless the car is pretty slick already (or if you've got your own water)
  3. re: oil - 'apparently' the full ester oils like 300V chrono etc are not recommended with E85 - Motul is meant to be having a compatible oil, but not release for a while. Gulf Western's GRoup V oil says it's ok to use with Ethanol... so i don't know what the go is. For the time being, i go with the Yank oils, Royal Purple or AMSoil (what i've currently been running, 10w40) as i know they're ok with ethanol. They've had ethanol for longer, so i'm sticking with US products so far. If we had some Brazilian contacts, we could probably get everything answered
  4. i do remember some sort of reducer being used on my setup... so i think you're right 3" to 2.5 at turbo
  5. dude.... results MUST be shared if you get an E100 tune!!! :( i thought i was crazy driving to Hoppers back in the day (50mins one way) to get a tank, plus 2 x 20L jerry's.... you've certainly taken it to another level! love your work!
  6. true, it is probably to make it as seamless an exercise as possible for joe public i'm sure there's some conspiracy to it somewhere damn it!
  7. speak to the guy down at Fueltown scotty - i reckon he'll let you fill up with E100 if you want. Granted, not out of the pump, but i'm sure something can be arranged Maybe do the car and 2 jerry's, and keep the jerry's at home.
  8. it's funny though, as Powerplus (manildra) take on it is that Australia does not require a winter mix, so i'm not sure why Caltex believe the need is there... would they want to push as much petrol as possible? probably bigger margins If they only use the winter mix (E70) for say 2 months of the year, hopefully Powerplus will be more readily available and we won't have to worry about having limited servo's for a couple months of the year. Most of us make do at the moment as it is, i'm sure we'll be ok for the winter months.
  9. The fueltown in Melb that sell Powerplus Ethanol, do mix their own. So if you really wanted, you could get E100 from them at the servo (as some of their race customers do) E85 is yesterday news, come on E100!
  10. Powerplus E85 is the best if you can get it. We have 1 United and 1 Powerplus here. I've had tunes on both, as has joeyjoejoe, and both of us had to get Status to fiddle with the tunes (even though both are E85) but Trent said both times the Powerplus fuel was better. It has a slightly higher ROn rating as well.
  11. that is rude!!! 534kw!! RB31 and GTRS's! just spastic.... is that 534awkw? i would like to see a tear down of a motor after it's been running E85 for a while though. Before i made the switch, we did a compression test just to make sure everything was ok, Trent @ Status said it was near perfect across all 6 - got a test done last week after about 18months on E85, 170,168,168,165,168,170 - don't know if that tells us much but my engine sure is still in tip top shape - i reckon the E85 has helped it stay in very good condition, oh and the tune of course
  12. we'll just let Trent sort it out when he gets back if you ran an E70 map though, to cover all bases, wouldn't it be too lean then if you actually got E85 from Caltex? definitely need some clarification from Caltex over this... .might call them tomorrow.
  13. unless you can do that on the fly, you'd have to have a map for E70 to cover all bases.
  14. took mine off
  15. 2 doors are surprisingly practical
  16. Trent @ Status did a compression test a few months back, but i can't remember what i did with all the #'s, he said compression test was great and very even across all cylinders, but i thought i'd get another one done as people might prefer an independent test. Soo.... Chasers Motorworks, one of the top import workshops in Melb did a test for me, twice, and the results.... 170 168 168 165 168 170 They were very happy with it, said it was running very well and said those numbers were pretty much perfect I knew she was in good health, but didn't know she was that healthy I guess if you look after it, and make sure you have a great tuner, i suppose it shouldn't be so much of a surprise. She's not just a pretty face
  17. i like your style Paul listen to the man, he speaks the truth
  18. aaahhh... 4d - EB released the 4 dr kit first IIRC
  19. .... and the rear bumper, side skirts, rear pods... yeah, exchange has picked up a bit, but it's still pretty much prohibitive to bring this kit out at the moment
  20. i think the new p plate laws have taken a fair chunk of the market away, IMO like i said though, offers welcome

  22. was happy with how some of these night time shots came out but the fav is prob the side shot
  23. +1 for having error code 21 that was instantly and easily fixed by installing splitfires - happened pretty much after i got the car in '06 and never had ignition issues since. Splitfires all the way, don't bother with any of the other alternatives.
  24. it was such a shit heap of a car - hardly 'appeared' to be a pride and joy crushing moment... i take it insurance would be null and void after the crush? ie, no write-off claim?
  25. considering the thread has already been dug.. i vote no wing
