my goodness, you're running semi synth oil on engines like those? you'll find most guys on here will be running AT LEAST a fully synthetic oil (like 99% of people) of Group IV or higher. A lot of oils unfortunately market themselves as synthetic when in fact they aren't. Motul 300V Chrono is a very popular one. Redline for those that want a full Group V oil, but $$ AMSoil, Royal Purple, German Castrol, Mobil 1 - some other decent full synths. 5w30 would probably be the go, especially since you're in NZ, you'll be wanting that cold protection more than us. Unless you the engines see's a lot of track time. I'd be looking at a 0w30/40, or say 5w30 for street duties

Driver Dynamics i think still has some spots for their January Sandown trackday. 10% discount for SAU Vic members and a very well run day. Perfect day to find your feet with the car as there are a bunch of great instructors on hand who can jump in with you whenever you want. Not a TIMED day, so you just get a bunch of laps, every hour (a lot of track time in the end) and just gradually get to figure the car out at speed, etc. Heaps, heaps of time to get comfortable Who's doing the suspension work? I take it RacePace are more than sorted for that or are you going to Traction Tyres, etc?

ad08's are drool worthy. If they weren't about double the price of the KU36's, i'd get them in a heart beat. I had ad07's on my old set of AVS Model 5's, 17's. Such an awesome tyre. Bit noisy but man, grip central. The AD08's just look awesome though. Traction Tyres has a STACK of them in their place... so demoralising $500 per corner i was quoted at TT for 265/35/R18 For reference, as the OP has already sorted everything out, i got KU36, 245/40/R18 fitted/balanced for $1132. Solved my traction issues from the old bridgestones and held up fine at Sandown a couple sundays ago.

ok, so i was looking all the way up the inside of my exhaust yesterday (the sun was low enough in they sky that something caught my eye as the inside of the exhaust was not in shadow) and i see a fine layer of red "dust" all along the inside, and quite a ways in. I take it this would be rust? just wondering if i should be concerned at all about this? car hasn't been driven in a few days and last time i drove it was raining very hard.

i'd strongly consider FI's 'Seal' as well. what colour is your car? is it metallic? can help you with your decisions within the Zaino range. 4 micron's sounds like a shiteload for just a sealant to add. But hey, i guess this is nano tech we're talking about... who knows
-
hahahah, you most likely not only got possibly the best carnauba wax ever made (Royale) but you probably got a sealant layer underneath as well. Can't do all the correction work and not protect the car. You can get decent carnauba waxes for around $40-$50 (p21s) but if you want to rush out and buy some Royale, you'll need about $18k handy check with D, but you probably got FI Seal, followed by Royale - or possibly FI's own carnauba wax

i'm running a R33 HKS Super Dragger. Was chopped a bit and something welded up, can't remember exactly. Don't think it was a huge job.

Tyres you use(d) and how u would rate them
SS8_Gohan replied to ZigenGT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
sounds potentially like warped brake discs - get your discs checked you don't track 19's in a GTT, you can but it's just stupid good track tyres in 19's are going to be good track tyres in 16's, 17's, 18's. If anything, get a set of 17's with really good tyres, like some Advan semi slicks, a048's etc... immeasurably better than getting out there on 19's if you've got the dosh, go 18's with s slicks my KU36's were fine at sandown, with 287rwkw -
East Bear Body Kit For R34 Gtt
SS8_Gohan replied to hoodstarz's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
iirc, it was a 4 door and didn't have the full lower spoiler sections, both front, sides and rear. but, could have changed since then. -
dude, you've got to be kidding? i know you gotta get rid of it... but that's what crappy 1998 34's go for... not nice 2000 manual ones like this... $20k is silly cheap already, seriously
-
yeah, the dealers i thought just buy from the auctions and jack the price. So you may as well bid on the same cars and jump on them before they do. would private sales be yahoo?? mind if i ask why you went the import route over local cars? there's a lot of 34 R's going at the moment on car sales. 4 pages worth

there is so little that can be added to this thread really... it kinda has everything anyone on this forum could ever dream of (including the house ) few things though - Detail at Final Inspection. Think of Damian as the 'Ben' of the RB26 world. Won't find a better detailer this side of the hemisphere. A couple layers of Final Inspection 'Seal', topped perhaps with some Zymol Royale ($18K wax) and after a drive, you'll just have to high pressure rinse, and all that soot/dust will just fall off the rear bumper. Trust me, Damian is as pedantic about detailing as Ben is about GTR's. - If you're worried about soot/richness, thought about E85? Runs very clean. And E85 on this setup? If you're scared now..... I know what you mean about learning to push the car, worrying about things braking, worrying about smacking it into something without the electronic aids, etc. But i would HIGHLY recommend a Driver Dynamics track day. I just did my 2nd one at Sandown on Sunday and basically you get about 20mins track time per hour (a lot of time) and you can choose to either a) go out alone b) go out with an instructor c) go out with the instructor driving and you passenger. The instructors are very experienced, lots of race/rally time between them all and i gave my car to an instructor to drive 1 session as well... dear son of rajab, at his claimed "50%" effort you quickly realise how much more capable the car is than we would otherwise perhaps give it credit for. And exponentially more so with your GTR. Check out the Driver Dynamics website, and their calendar.... then let me know what day you're going so i can come and watch and steal a passenger lap I can fully understand about being concerned with testing the limits of your car... i'm concerned with my measly 285rwkw GTT! let alone the power you have. But you gotta have faith in the setup. You have literally the best of everything, and perhaps the most important aspect, PLENTY of braking and stopping power. The AD07's were an outstanding tyre, and i would go AD08's in a heartbeat if i had the $500 a corner budget needed to get them. Fantastic, fantastic tyre. A phenomenal, phenomenal GTR mate. You have left absolutely nothing to chance, and with a bit of time behind the wheel on a track, and a bit of instruction, i'm sure you'll come to realise the 34 was the correct decision over the 35. Truly one of the best world wide. Congratulations oh, don't worry about this launching business. This car is meant to go, stop and turn.

Creaking Front Left
SS8_Gohan replied to Galois's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
high speed turning? low speed turning? tight turns? turning up a driveway? what suspension mods have been done to the car? -
hoppers fuel still smelled normal? yeah, i noticed on the United website, they have a SA outlet officially listed. Also heard EVERY Holden model will have a flex-fuel option available by February. Sounds plausible as when i was in the states last month, there were lots of 'flex fuel' and 'E85' badges getting around on a many different models, mainly the chevy's. Hope it's true as there will HAVE to be more outlets then.

Floor Mat Group Buy- Almost Every Make And Model
SS8_Gohan replied to hungryGTR's topic in Group Buys
the middle mat on the 34 is going to need some time to get use to the shape... i'm thinking maybe a hairdryer to help the backing get use to sitting flush against the tunnel -
Floor Mat Group Buy- Almost Every Make And Model
SS8_Gohan replied to hungryGTR's topic in Group Buys
Metro Melbourne - mats just arrived. Ripped open the packaging (nicely packed by the way) and had a good inspection. Look to be great quality, especially the rubber backing and the quite hefty stitching along the edges. Grabbed the mats out of my dad's 335i coupe and compared, very impressed. Maybe a touch less dense carpet than the bimmer's, but i reckon the backing and the stitching is better. Car is being washed in a few hours, so will vacuum and put them in then. First impressions... very impressive, especially given the price. Now just to find someone to embroid 'nismo' on them Thank you very much Dave for organising this and managing to keep everything on a good schedule dispute the obviously huge personal issues. -
i can see the benefit for a roady maybe, but i just booked in for Traction Tyres to fit/balance a set of Kumho KU36's, 245/40/18, $1k. Fair bit less if i wanted to stretch some 235's on (much more common size) but they said for a 18 x 9 rim, with track work, no less than 245. So that's what i did although, if i was JUST driving on the street, i probably would consider some second hand ones. But Ash is spot on though, if they've seen quite a few heat cycles, the tread could be great but the compound has just gone to shit (a bit like my $$ bridgestones are now) and makes the tyres worse than a set of Lin Longs or something

i have a USB consult cable, if that's of any help

*sigh* it's not a z-tune. It's just a nismo kit. I believe everything was answered in the replies afterwards if you read the thread
