  1. well i guess i could always just do things to the T that i can transfer to the R? If i got some Bride seats, i could swap to the R when/if i upgrade and i'm sure i'd be able to sell a pair of R34 GTR seats pretty easy judging by how quick they go in the for sale section (when priced sensibly). So that's not a huge $ exercise. And if i changed the interior, i guess pretty much everything could be swapped to the R and then stock R stuff, could go back into the T if i were to sell... hmmm... so i guess... i could kinda get the best of both worlds? have a nice T to drive around in for a bit, if i want to sell i can just transfer all that money spend into the R and i guess also make the T a bit more sell-able as it would have a GTR interior (minus the MFD unless i just transfer the carputer across) what about perhaps going down that road?
  2. Cheers for the comments I guess i just like to do things properly. I didn't go crazy on power until i had proper suspension, and now i have some OK power, i feel i need to sort out the brakes a bit more. It's 285rwkw at the moment, and will most likely be 300rwkw very shortly. I think it would be remiss of me not to take a look at a brake upgrade, and it seems the 'caliper adapter' is the best way of doing that without going over-the-top. Talking to someone with the 324 DBA 5000's upgrade on a 33 GTS-T with supporting hardware (braided lines, good pads, etc) advised it's a VERY capable kit and a good value upgrade. And for me, i think this is probably the way to go, just perhaps go a little bigger than the originally planned 324mm. I guess i was thinking anywhere from $750-$1000 would be what i was looking at (just judging from the UAS R33 upgrade kits). I was trying to hunt down CSC, but they seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth, along with Hypertech. So wouldn't know where to get that gear now. I heard AVO use to sell it so i called them... Spoke to Lee, nice on the phone and said he could look at making something up as well and can speak to him on Monday. Mentioned to him something around the 332mm, 343mm sized rotor. But hey Roy, if you're able to put something together in terms of adapters/rotors package, you're welcome too and obviously put a bit ontop for yourself as well. Can you use my car as a guinea pig if you want Well what are 34 owners thoughts on a BIGGER upgrade now, to say 332mm or 343mm??
  3. you know i'll be interested to see your results
  4. hahaha, if i knew what a pitbike was, i might be able to give you an informed answer so that would be a no, but the 'cash my way' can work though price is ONO as well guys
  5. wow... not much love for the T it's just such a big initially outlay for the R + initial upgrade (not to mention trying to find a buyer these days) i was actually leaning towards the T but now it's just plain difficult
  6. i'm all up for supporting local companies if this CSC mob make good stuff. Having issues trying to find contact details for CSC or B-Spec?? i'll ask John about thoughts on a 343mm adapter, because i know he doesn't recommend going that high for track applications when starting from 296mm thanks for all the input everyone so what rough price would we be looking at for a set of 333 or 343mm rotors?
  7. i was posting pics as a reference, didn't know exactly what i was posting just to give people an idea... ok, so what if an adapter could be made for 332mm rotors? worth it then?
  8. John was saying if you go too big, there are issues when it comes to track/motorsport applications. So you can't go too far. Yes it's not a huge increase, but if you want to change to better rotors anyway, why not go up where the vast majority of braking is done on the Skylines... the front. I can see if it's a possibility to go bigger, but the 324mm size gives a nice choice of rotors, being the stock GTR size
  9. unfortunately that's not for R34 rotors You also can't go too much bigger than standard, otherwise there are safety issues when it comes to track/motorsport applications
  10. Hi guys, Struggling with a bit of a decision at the moment, and that's to say enough is enough with the GT-T, sell it, don't spend anymore money and get a GTR or.... Go all out with the GT-T and REALLY finish it off. Do everything that you have ever thought of doing, and have a car that is truly unique. As i'm sure we can all admit the allure of an R34 GTR is damn strong and really is the pinnacle of the Skylines and is actually fairly obtainable these days compared to only a few years ago. You can get a R34 GTR for mid 40's. What i'm trying to decide is whether it's worth to spend anymore money on the GT-T? A few things are making the decision a bit hard... My car is at 285rwkw at the moment, and i'm only a rear housing away (not that $$) from getting into the low 300'srwkw perhaps. Not exactly slow and if i bought a stock R34 GTR, i'd have a little catching up to do, to get it at the same level. But yes of course, there is A LOT of potential with the RB26, just unfortunate you kinda need 2 of a few things So ontop of the cash difference in buying the GTR and selling the GT-T, i'd have to spend however much more to get it to the same performance. The GT-T has almost been rounded out as well. Quite happy with the power, it has the full (or nearly full) SK Bilstein/Whiteline kit. It has (as far as i know) the only complete East Bear kit in Australia, and has nice 18's with very good offset, only a brake upgrade away from being pretty well rounded car. The GTR however, would need to be bought, powered up, suspension changed and the "look" department...well... looked at ontop of the purchase price. Good looking rims aren't cheap because they gotta be WIDE to fill the guards and the power-up dept is a bit pricey given the nature of x2 for some things. But it would be an R, the real deal, with ATTESSA (sp?), with the wider track, with the brembo's, with the RB26, etc etc... It would be the King, you'd know it, they'd know it, everyone else would know it. The other option is to REALLY finish off the GT-T which basically means FULL interior upgrade, but not auto salon spec, i'm thinking GT3/2, Aston Martin DBS, Superleggerra spec interior. Black Alcantara, Bride etc. Pretty much everything re-done or changed. Then the car would be pretty much complete and i would hope, a VERY capable, up-to-date, performance car. It would have the looks, the go, the turning and braking ability and a very slick interior. Now that's obviously quite a few thousand of $$'s away but i'm still what... $20K short between the GT-T price and GTR? I guess basically, is an "every aspect covered" GT-T worth the effort over a R34 GTR? Would the GTR still just blow the GT-T away in all the performance aspects? cheers, daniel
  11. For those running GT-T brakes, this thread maybe of interest http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Eo...ad-t285409.html
  12. Hi guys, just trying to guage some interest in a brake upgrade kit i've been talking about with John @ UAS (and with some major help from other very knowledgeable Skyline enthusiasts). Basically, UAS sell a brake upgrade kit for R33 calipers. It's a caliper adpater to run 324mm rotors (standard is 296mm or there-abouts) and packaged together with some DBA 4000's or DBA 5000's. http://nismo.com.au/pricelists/pricelist_skylinebrakes.htm Unfortunately these adapters don't fit/work with R34 calipers and new ones would be need to be made, this is where you guys come in... Is anyone keen on getting a package together (probably need minimum 10 people) for R34 caliper adapters to run 324mm discs? Personally i'm leaning towards a R34 upgrade adapter with DBA 5000 series 324mm rotors. Most people do the basic stuff, like brake cylinder stopper, good fluid, good pads, etc... That's the easier, cheaper stuff, but a combo of... -Good fluid -Brake cylinder stopper -good pads -Braided Lines -324mm rotors should be a damn good package IMO, and doesn't require having to go with expensive Brembo upgrades or change to a G4 caliper but restricted with pad choices. We still keep our stock calipers so still have great pad prices/options. I take it this would suit some Stagea owners as well, as i'd imagine quite a few would be running GT-T brakes. So yeah, keen to know your thoughts cheers, daniel
  13. it's a great kit, you'll be a happy chappy i believe the following cost about $360 to install, at Traction Tyres (very reputable place in Melb) -springs -shocks -caster kit front -caster kit rear -alignment
  14. zaver, they're quite a few companies that make very similar (ie knock off) looking rims to those in 18's. koya driftek i think is one... Rota? (dubious quality, but prob fine) - there's a few around, Bee R as well
  15. if you take the rear seats out, i think in vic at least, you can then rego as a 2 seater... but that would most likely mean you couldn't just throw the seats back in when you wanted and take passengers around. It would probably have to stay strictly 2 seater, unless you want to re-rego or something
  16. i THINK it might be the difference between Series 1 and 2 relative to the R34. By that i mean, the first Stagea's were around at the tail end of the R33, then they got the NEO of the R34, and the silver one could be the Series II of the R34. There was slightly more torque with the series II R34 cars, but 99.9% sure there is no turbo difference. I think the only slight difference is torque
  17. i think it depends greatly on how the car is setup as well. If boost is like a light switch, and have crappy suspension (ie too hard most likely) with crappy geometry... well, you're going to have your hands full. If the car has been setup right, with good suspension, yes it will take some getting use to but if everything is more "progressive" then it will be much more easy to control. i'm kinda in the same boat as yourself, my first car was a 1.6l fwd nissan pulsar i think had about 57kw's at the fly. And then the next was the R34, now 285rwkw. Yet to be driven in major angry around a track, but i can already tell i'm really going to have to keep my head on straight when doing so. oh and good tyres help as well
  18. post this in the Vic section, along with most current pics and any distinguishable marks (dents, etc) horrible news. I hope he was insured.
  19. red, carbon fibre, and dark rims.... mmmmmm sounds like an engine out job, which is $$ - if you very pedantic about finish, $7K-$10K AUD (and more, but that would get you a nice finish) but could still get a solid job done for $5k, but really, for an engine out job you'd wanna do it properly.
  20. well that sux teh balls, stupid NAB board... why couldn't you be more like ANZ
