  1. hey Joey, what cat you running? may have missed it... 4" exhaust?
  2. Midori has you covered if you want to go that route.... (but i don't think it needs it, mine doesn't drone, maybe it reduces db somehow)
  3. ^ are the RSR pipes equal length like the Mines front pipes? are you going the 90mm Midori pipe? Ti or SS? i'm thinking of changing, but would love to hear the difference. Poss organise a time to have a listen? Andrew, exhaust came with the car (as well as about every single other Midori item )
  4. what's the main diff ( ) between stock and Quaife? plans for rear diff? i recently found out i have an ATS Carbon front diff, but having never driven a standard R, i have no idea what the difference is
  5. unless i'm missing something, you're making no sense and contradicting yourself...
  6. sorry, which bit was the scary bit again??
  7. what mod to front diff? Racepace transfer case mod?
  8. yeah, not much better really - what are the front pipes they made? twin 3" merging to 4"?
  9. ahhhh interesting - thanks for that.
  10. point was, this 'design' doesn't result in a drone you could sell your exhaust and buy a Midori one - they also have another version with some sort of extra resonator or something as well, bit quieter. But you'll need a muffler, so your choices are cut and weld or get a new one yes, it's a Midori exhaust
  11. low mount twins? ooo inconel... that's the super fancy metal isn't it? - looks like you can just get their chra's as welll... "Our new core assembly (chra) is machined from Billet aluminium like all our turbochargers and incorparates our silicone nitride dual ball bearing system. The bearing housing is machined to fit OEM turbine and compressor housings sizes and oil and water ports suit original lines and fittings. All turbine wheels are inconel to allow higher constant egt's. We offer a number of wheel combinations including billet compressor wheels. We can supply as chra only or machine your housings to suit choosen wheel configurations." So could you 'upgrade' your Garrett/HKS turbo with these fancy new bearing options?
  12. for what it's worth, this Ti exhaust doesn't drone - i'm running this catback
  13. Stao: lose response from porting manifold? really? haven't really heard of that side-effect...
  14. hate to sound like a broken record E-Flex = caltex high % ethanol fuel Flex-Fuel = ability to run mixture of pulp and E85 I'm assuming this is tuned on United E85 not Caltex E-Flex? anyways, brilliant results for a 2.6!
  15. so this is a 2.6 with a big single? and it's the same as Paul's 2.8 with -5's?? very intrigued..... variable timing mod?? on the CAT research - looks like it will range from low $300 (venom) to just under $500 for the CES one - Ballistic is a touch under $400. These are with flanges. CES went into some detail in their email, and said the one they'd go with would be good for 500wkw - but Ballistic has flow info with details at what pressure they did the test. I'll see if CES has any specific flow info.... thinking Venom is out of the running now, Ballistic ones have been around longer, bit more of a known quantity and have put up flow results with specific details of how the test was conducted. But being CES, i'm confident of a good product. See how we go...
  16. somewhere in Laverton i believe
  17. either way, 10 mins, 20mins, whatever... it's a close, big, skid pan.
  18. this isn't a workshop war thread, not that there is one going on, this is just to let you know we all will have a DECA (skid pan) sized facility available to us for autocross events. That's it, we should be all grateful for having motorsport facilities closer to us... isn't that what we've always called for? Yes it isn't another metro track like Sandown, but good luck that happening. And no there isn't a back-track like DECA, but it's still potentially a great facility to have some safe fun, that's pretty easy on the car. 10-20mins whatever, all i know is that more close motorsport venues the better, no?
  19. oh yeah, no back track, but 'like DECA' i meant is in the 'affection' variety, not necessarily by it's exact make-up. But still, great to have an autocross venue close by - google tells me 45mins public events? as long as there is an event you can join, then that's all we need. SAU DECA aren't exactly 'public' events, still need a CAMS/ASAA (or aasa whatever) license. I'm guessing it will be along those lines i'm sure this is a multi-purpose venue, but will cater for motorsport events. If anything, this will be a good compliment for DECA, you can do these events close-by but if you want a day mixed with some tight track action, you can go for a DECA. hahaha, yes Grant, no armco
  20. RTR - 'Road Track Rally' have delivered...... baller style. Yes, you're seeing correct. A 9000 sqm (i believe) skid pan VERY soon to be available in western Melbourne. Prob 30-45min'ish for those of us on the civilised side of Melbourne Slightly smaller than DECA overall, but i think maybe a little longer... not 100% sure Not April fools, this is full legit, ready to rock early 2013!!! Bring it! oooooooooooooohhhhh yeeeaahhhhhhh.........
  21. it's people getting confused with some of the terminology, of which people like Caltex have made it a little confusing... FlexFuel in itself is not a fuel (as i'm sure you know) - it's a term referring to the ability of a car to run a mixture of anything really (obviously not diesel/gas) without requiring the user to do anything with the car. Set and forget. Caltex called their high E% blend 'EFlex' which has confused some people... as it's got the word 'Flex'. Either way, it seems United has their very own ethanol plant in QLD which seems to explain their greater roll-out i guess. But it seems the base stock is not crop by-product as it was with Manildra and CSR when United was using CSR ethanol. This some-what reduces the benefits of E85 from an environmental perspective if this is the case for United. I'll need to look into it more....
  22. hmmm... what cats have you tried Jez? i'm leaning towards a CES or Ballistic cat.... CES is just a modified Magnaflow (which i take it to mean they've just put flanges on to bolt up to Skylines) but being CES i'm thinking $$$
  23. my cat isn't too healthy at the moment unfortunately - i'm not going de-cat, so should i just get one of those 100cell 5" venom ones? haven't bought a cat since my last GT-T and that was years ago... just some little 3" catco one.... some SAU searching brings up Venom a lot but some uber german brand called HJS gets a bit of a mention... don't know if there have been any major cat improvements over the years, bit out of the loop with these things.... EDIT: forgot about the ballistic cats... i do remember those from a while back
  24. check out Tiger Soft in moorrabbin - John knows what he's doing and uses good products tigersoft.com.au
  25. how'd you go mate? interested to see the difference between RTR's and RP's dyno... (you've had a run on RP's yeah?)
