well done mate for him to react so strongly like that only goes to show that you hit on some very obvious sore points, especially regarding journalistic integrity. i'm reading his reply again... and jeebus, it's kinda.... dribble? he's off on a rant that doesn't really address the main points of your initial email. What a bunch of ass clowns. TT and ACA are THE laughing stock of tv "journalism", every one knows that... it's just a shame that the mainstream will readily except anything presented.

i'd be VERY careful with car bra's, most the time they do more damage than good... if you're planning a long country'ish trip... consider a clear 3M film. and remember new GTR owners.... say no to "paint protection"... it's a huge scam, stay well away Andrew, can't wait to see it in the flesh mate. And yes, DECA will be interesting

i might actually need some help moving my CF rear diffuser from my house to Status... and maybe also some large sheets of aluminium.. did you hire a van?

Joeyjoejoe's E85 Tuning Adventutres
SS8_Gohan replied to joeyjoejoejuniorshabadoo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
too much to commute to Hoppers just to get fuel?? with chopping and changing, do you have to wait until you're as close to empty as possible, and then fill up with 98 before switching tunes? -
with the modifications the SpecV got over a base car, i guess it was always destined to be the "middle child" but i'm with Baron, it's certainly not "middle" pricing... but at least from the reviews it does seem like there is a very noticeable difference in performance, and it sounds like the brakes are some of THE best going around, no matter how exotic a car you pick. i think we'll be surprised by the Ring time, but yeah, SpecV always seemed to be a halfway house to something completely mental... can't wait!

can't really help, but a suggestion... roof racks mate? i was driving around with a GTR cf rear diffuser on roof racks... would be as big as bonnet.. but perhaps not as heavy
-
hahahaha, i was thinking... well, as far as i know, Willal's the only people who have done any extensive testing, and supposedly found some flaws with the OEM fluid. looks like i'm preaching to the converted, hahah but yeah, i thought would be helpful info to the would-be GTR owners. Willal oil prices incl worldwide shipping too

by "we know this from testing...", who is we exactly? that's why i mentioned the Willal transmission and diff fluid. i'll try and dig up some prices. Is there any reason why top of the line (real) synthetics fluids won't cope? Be it Redline, Royal Purple (racing series), Amsoil, Willal, etc? Willall Racing WR35TM Transmission Oil Released (cheaper than nissan) http://www.gtrblog.com/2008/11/12/willall-...smission-oil-r/ Willall Racing Release WR35DF Differential Fluid (practically same price) http://www.gtrblog.com/2008/12/26/willall-...5df-differenti/ Those are USD comparisons, could be a completely different ball game compared to AUD standard transmission fluid (that's bit of your gears there) Willal transmission fluid and for the clutch fans... Gcg Highflows With Op6 Rear Housing
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
oh there's a lot of proprietary stuff i'm sure... i was just wondering that for those that have ordered from GCG, did they give you a couple spec options to choose from? reason i mentioned the OP6 is that i thought it might give you some different options because you have a larger rear housing to start with -
sounds like someone is a little annoyed about outlaying some setup costs? well, enlighten us then... how much of this topic is BS?
-
Hi y'all was looking at the gcg website, http://www.gcg.com.au, and was trying to dig up some specs for their high flows but i kinda got lost and confused was just trying to get the specs of the OP6 GCG high flows that get around the 250-270rwkw mark... there are a couple in the turbo upgrade thread, and another guy recently posted a Status tuned one that got 270rwkw. I've got a spare OP6 rear housing, but just wondering if i can "borrow" some of the specs of their high flows, compressor wheel size, etc cheers, daniel

^ why? can't see how it would be worth all the hassle
-
it lets you retain the stock airbox Marcus, as it's a return flow cooler, hence when you pop the bonnet you don't see the crazy piping going everywhere... although, it is a bit of a misnomer as the core itself will still stand-out... i guess you could say the piping is stealth I've got one, got leaks with it which make this really bad howling noise but that's probably my fault because i wanted it to be dead straight, level and parallel to the front of the car and THEN connect the piping after. So there's a few funky angles going where pipes join, and we've replaced some of the clamps with better ones which helped initially but i think it's just pushed the leak somewhere else. Nothing a few better clamps can't fix. Good piece of kit overall

the lettering is slightly different amongst all the R's if i'm not mistaken, and the 35 is the ONLY one to get the 3D effect, 34 R badge does not look the same look at the font of the just jap link for the R, different

that's a stealership at it's best right there to me, didn't look like anything in there that couldn't be done by any reputable workshop. Willal has transmission fluid that doesn't cost that much, plus there are good Castrol/Red Line versions around as well (would this void warranty?) Mobil 1 can be had for cheap at www.performancelub.com (Melbourne guy with SAU discounts), and those labour costs are rude. It was just fluid and filter changes, anyone can do that. And you can source cheaper fluids prices as well, if warranty on the transmission is not void if you don't use GTR specific transmission fluid EDIT: performancelub.com has mobil 1 at $77.94 AUD for 6 quarts of 0w40, not including SAU discount. Redline 75w90 transmission fluid is $216 AUD (without discount), 8 quarts of that Redline 75w90 gear oil (diff) for 3 quarts, $81 AUD (without discount). So doing what they did above, that's $374 AUD worth of fluids, say ~$350 with discount, plus labour and filters. Say the filters are $200, and there's 2 hours worth of work at $75/hr (reputable workshop price), that's $150 labour. Total = $700 AUD vs $3030 AUD nissan stealership (converted from USD) And that's a transmission and diff fluid change, you're not going to change that every service.

sorry to go off topic... Gibbo, is your 335 a coupe or a sedan? my old man has a 335i coupe and i'm trying to get him to make the switch

Small Turbo Upgrade Question
SS8_Gohan replied to ClutchBurndout-:('s topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah, i got an HKS at the moment, 12.5psi with the boost controller off i think it was... can they be easily tested before they're put on? -
Vu might need to clarify (or i will when i pick up a part from him tomorrow) but i'm pretty sure DT has a lengthy warranty period... for some reason i have 'lifetime' in my head but that could be wrong.

Small Turbo Upgrade Question
SS8_Gohan replied to ClutchBurndout-:('s topic in Engines & Forced Induction
so not all 14psi actuators are created equal?? -
if panel beaters don't fit kits, then who the hell else does??!! look, it's pretty simple. DT goes good work at good prices. End of story. Yes you can pay more, and yes you can get a better result. As has already been explained, you do probably have to spend around $7k to get an outstanding result. I don't know why we keep going around on these points? How many people are going to be concerned about how much OP is in their panels? How many people would know unless you pointed it out? DT is for most people who just want a good, solid job without the big price tag. Mr Gloss, Mi-Colour, Charli Batisti, etc are for the people who really want everything done exactly right but are prepared to pay for it. But there are still going to be enough people around (especially in the import community) who won't be able, in their eyes and opinion, to justify the price difference between the two. That's fine, all industries cater for all levels of customers, but there isn't really anything new to be said. DT is good at good prices, but yes there are better if you want to spend more, and that's really it. /end thread

paul is waaaaay more learned than me so i'd be inclined to list to him, but yeah, the reason why i asked about the BC because i've just recently found out they can make a ticking noise when coming onto or around boost. we just put some foam behind the solenoid to stop the ticking. It "could" be what's happening to you, but you are running a decent amount of boost for a stock turbo

+1 on the E85 question.. so it's only hoppers United that has it now? Kingsway still doesn't have it? i'm hanging on Kingsway... when they get it, i get it tuned
