Stock Gtr Seats For Track Work
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
really?? hmmm... even if the track work i'm talking about is not even close to what someone like yourself does? i kinda just punt around, i don't drive at 10/10ths - the thing is though, if i'm re-trimming, my logic is i may as well start with the cheapest that'll do the job, as opposed to what... at least $1k for more race style seats? and THEN re-trim on top... i figure get some cheapo trashed GTR seats and then re-trim. dunno really... what would you suggest instead over the GTR seats? -
Stock Gtr Seats For Track Work
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
i was thinking if i can find some banged up 32 seats for say $400-$500, it wouldn't matter because i'm retrimming, because i think i'd be tempted even if i got an aftermarket item, to keep the continuity of the interior, so i'd retrim the after-market seats as well, if you catch my drift. i mean, if i got brides or what not, i'd keep logo's but would most likely retrim in leather or alcantra so the interior looks factory. and is there actually any difference (besides stitching) between the 32 and 33 GTR seats? -
Hi guys, thought i'd pop in here and ask the guru's. Looking at upgrading seats, and was thinking instead of dropping big dollars on bride/recaro, etc... would stock 32/33 GTR seats cope with casual track work? I'd probably go say 3-4 times a year, at most say half a dozen times. Motorkhana, instructed track days, SAU Vic days, nothing door-to-door, etc... i'm thinking of completely re-doing my interior as well, and the stock GTT seats aren't really the shape i was envisaging in a redone interior. And was wondering whether say leather re-trimmed stock 32/33 GTR seats would be up to the task off keeping me in my seat on tracks days? if i was retrimming, could i also like fatten up the side bolsters a bit? R34 GTR seats definitely look up to the task, but even second hand they are $$$, but if the 32/33 do the job, then that'll be fine. Doesn't seem to be much difference between the 32 and 33 GTR seats? cheers, daniel

sorry to dig this up, but are the stock 32/33 gtr seats up to the task of holding you in for track work?
-
tasty... so what's a brief rundown on what's been done to the car? this is a RacePace job yeah?
-
i always wax my headlights after a polish, with OCW. Has UV(b?) filters/blockers, etc... my headlights have held up fine 8 months after their last polish. But it's inevitable that they'll revert at some stage, but a 5 minute job with the RO, plus Edge green on with IP 3.01 and we're laughing again. This $100 dismantling job is a bit of a rip-off IMO

you're game, holding it on that date do you have longer run in ladder things for the dyno? my car wasn't very happy reversing up it last time

** For Sale - R34 Smic **
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
i "believe" for 33's, it's a straight swap. Where the 32 i think needs maybe a bracket fabricated... not 100%. I think 33's are a direct swap... here's the hose thing and the air guide black thing is attached on the back of the SMIC -
aaahh... someone finally got it. It truly was an immaculate example of a R34 GTR. To be honest mate, i'd sell the headlights as they are ultra $$, as i'm sure you'll be able to polish out your current headlights. may i ask if it was a sub $50k purchase in the end? detailaddiction.com.au/forums - head over there, all the best info to look after your car in the best way possible have fun mate, you definitely found a stunner

nice work, congrats

wow, some of the km/hr splits were pretty amazing. Was there 5hp extra from the '08? i agree regarding the handling, it didn't look like as much of an animal. this is what gives me hope for the V-Spec. On paper the 09 GTR doesn't look much different at all, but those km/hr splits tell a MUCH different story. So hopefully the V-Spec will surprise us all, despite not really stirring our nether regions with it's paper specs. Andrew, must be just a tad more excited about the delivery now?

Hey guys, I changed to a JJR return flow IC, so have this for sale from my R34. As everyone knows, great cheap upgrade for R32/33. Location: Melbourne Price: $120 Pick-up ok, and if you're not far, i can also drop off it need be. Help fund my turbo upgrade pics... also have some sort of hard black pipe as well, that's not pictured. So basically have everything you'll need. cheers, chinny

Hi guys, just wondering if the Nismo 480cc purple, top feed injectors, (the only Nismo's that suit the NEO RB25) would fit into a Z33 VQ35DE engine? I've heard that they're the same size but can't find anything definitive. I found this, but wasn't sure it if it was accurate.. ER34, RB25DE RB25DET CPV35, VQ35DE C35, RB25DET('98/9~) Z33, VQ35DE WGC34 WGNC34, RB25DE ('97/8~) RB25DET ('98/8~) Nengun.com doesn't have the Zed listed for the vehicle compatibility, but that doesn't particularly mean anything cheers, chinny

http://www.cartint.net.au/index.html was thinking of getting my car done here. Apparently one of, if not, the best place to get it done. Don't know if it's quite the Final Inspection of car tinting, but seems like it.

hope you're joking... 1) Pre-wax cleaners generally speaking including chemical cleaners, as opposed to physical abrasives, ie, you're not removing any clear, you are just cleaning the clear as best as possible, to prepare it for a wax. Lime Prime is a great pre-wax cleaner. No abrasives, just a great cleaner to make sure all polish residue and what not are gone, and you're left the best possible surface to apply the wax. Polishes generally fall under chemical cleaners or physical abrasives, usually the later. But there are some AIO products (all-in-one) that can both chemical cleaners and abrasives, a 1 step product. Can work well in some cases (can help with water marks, hence the chemical cleaners) but in terms of cutting power, it's very low. So basically, it would be wash - clay - wash - polish - wash - pre-wax cleaner - wax. Again, Lime Prime (made by Dodo) would be one of the top choices here. Lime Prime is probably best applied with a machine and the finest polishing pad you have. 2). A couple things. You can't layer waxes too quickly, as all waxes have a curing time, some faster than others. It's ideal if you can organise for the car to be in full sun after a wax application, as this will help not only with curing, but the look as well. Generally speaking, you'd want to give it at least a full 24 hours and make sure the car shampoo you are using is pH neutral, so as not to strip the wax you just put on. There are "hard" and "soft" waxes, but both can be layered as far as i know. 3) Synthetics do generally last longer, with a trade off in look to the carnauba, but some high end carnauba's can last a long time. I had Zymol Royale on my car which held out for about 5 months, but this is the THE best wax you can get at $18,000 a tub. But generally speaking, a synthetic will provide better protection for longer. Zaino's Z2 Pro would be a great synthetic to lay down as a base. The best thing really is to get the car's paint in as best condition as possible, then put down say 2-3 layers of Z2 Pro and THEN layer some carnauba ontop. This is probably the best combo you'll get as you'll get the better protection from bird droppings/water marks, etc from the sealant but you'll yield a better, deeper, look to the car with layering a carnauba ontop. Plenty of protection, and good looks from that combo. In terms of re-polishing, that won't as much to do with the synthetic/sealant as it will your washing process. If you're pedantic about your washing process, then you might be able to get away with just topping up the wax periodically and polish once a year. hope that helps

hmmm... yes, i seemed to have forgotten about that rather big point of difference from previous V-Specs.... given all this, my last stand is with the reviews/track time. The GTR on paper shouldn't not do what it does. Perhaps the V-Spec on paper shouldn't do what we might see it do. I'll hang onto that, and if it's only marginally better than the base model, then it's a big of a rip-off and Nissan are just trying to make some money back from the base model, for which i guess you can't blame them. at least there are plenty of aftermarket operators onto it now, of which there might be a lot who can make a V-Spec eater for a lot less money.
-
2 please Baron but really, in the history of 32/33/34, the V-Spec was not a great jump ahead of the standard R. And if you look at it in those terms, Nissan has actually gone further than usual with the V-Spec, which would suggest even a V-Spec II would not be a great jump either. Probably just the addition of a CF bonnet. I guess it's the N1 equivalent we're hanging for because going on tradition, the V-Spec isn't a huge performance jump. Certainly not in the league of 997 Turbo -> 997 GT2.

i saw R34 and thought turbo, and the sticker on my car says 98 or higher, so i would say that is what it's "designed" for. Considering Japan gets even higher grade fuel, i would have thought 98 is where you want to start
-
so you're saying your can runs better on a lower grade fuel? right...

Some Gtr Parts And That For Sale
SS8_Gohan replied to gtr-driver's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
pics of front seats? i've looked through a few for sale threads that say "immaculate" and most look like dog shit - not leveling anything at you, but pics would be great of the front seats -
what colour is the car/bonnet?
-
i've been wanting one of these for my car, both for flow and extra support for my ultra low front bumper. anyone know who could make a custom alluminium one?
-
what about just getting a GTR fuel rail, and then use the GTR injectors? that would work with the NEO wouldn't it?
