from the outside... heard it from the inside? mate, Southern BM in Moorabbin is one of the best after market places for bimmers, supercharging, exhausts (incl remus), blah blah... highly recommend them Andrew @ Southern BM is the man to speak to, tell him the Daniel (black skyline) from DA sent ya and yes, 256kw or there-abouts from a N/A 3.2 straight six is impressive and the M division has got it almost to the limit. You won't see the massive gains like you would with an RB26 relative to price. But you could always supercharge it

trent's dyno can pick up on things a normal roller can't, food for thought objective view, power fc, go on price - emange, go to status but +1 status

i brought that up because emsta was told by his mates that it's something that takes "experience" which is utter BS. Eat lots and lift heavy (compound, not isolation stuff). IMO that doesn't take "experience" to do both of those. Just a bit of commitment. the trainer some of us have been talking about over at ns.com - his son has gone +13kg in 12 weeks!! and he's as lean as they come. But he also trains INCREDIBLY hard. and it was also to point out that there is a lot bs that floats around in gyms these days, mainly coming out from these PT courses, especially the franchise gyms. No one is getting slimmer, hardly anyone is getting stronger. The girls stay on the treadmills, and the guys are in the weights room trying to find some sort of machine or cable system that replicates a certain exercise. 95% of the PT's are weak, have shite physiques, poor technique and write shite programs. If gym memberships are growing, if franchise gyms are expanding, if we have a new army of PT's due to current advertising campaigns then why have we just recently become the fattest nation on the planet?? IMO, PT will be flooded soon, something will give/crash. I guess it's like web design. Everyone jumped in at one stage thinking they'd make good money, but if EVERYONE jumped in, then the good old rules of supply and demand followed and websites are cheap as chups to get made these days, and you have 11ty billion people to choose from and mostly shite. /end rant

i too have heard a Mineral oil to start with does help bed everything down. I would run this for say 1000 - 1500km, then change to synth. there would be COUNTLESS serious track go-ers on SAU who would use something high-end like Redline for their track work. I don't go to the track much, so Group IV (Royal Purple) does me fine... but if i wanted the best protection possible, i'd fork out for the Redline. I believe the benefit is that it DOESN'T break down as quickly at higher temps (full synth) Skeptical re: Motul anecdotes... I run RP 5w30 and a SAU vic friend, gareth, runs 5w30 RP in his GTR but with an oil cooler, which made a noticeable difference to oil temps at track days we BOTH attended. His car also produces more power (neo25 vs rb26). So same track, same atmospheric conditions, same oil, he has more power, but a cooler, and his RP was noticeably cooler than mine. So in that sense, perhaps don't feel you have to go super thick if you're running a cooler. How many track days would you be doing a year? Do you plan to change oil after every track day? If a lot of track work, you maybe better off leaving say a 10w40 in there most the time If you're using a real good quality synth, to save a bit of $, i'd say 7.5K-10K changes WITH filter would suffice. But perhaps only when there are few/if any track days in that period. I'm thinking 5K changes are a bit overkill given the quality of oil a lot of us use, you may as well use a Group III (castrol edge, etc) and change regularly. I'm aiming for either 6months (don't drive much) or 7500km for my Royal Purple 5w30 changes. Sounds like you know what's going on anyway

almost 2kgs in 8 weeks? i've gone 11kgs in 5 months. And that's on the slowish side. It does not take experience at all!! that's just utter BS. Just lift heavy, eat alot and if you're more concerned about physique, just eat a bit cleaner (this is if you're bulking). Once someone has taught you how to squat/deadlift/military press/bench press/bent row, etc... you're sorted. Then it's just a matter of effort. I know i sound like m, but it's that simple. if you're bulking, a rough program to follow to would be heavy compound lifts and lots of milk and peanut butter sandwiches. easy. That's what i've done. i'd say PT training would be about as useful as a tits on a bull. The whole industry if being FLOODED at the moment, and it doesn't take a genius to see what the outcome will be. There are only so many clients out there and if you jump into bed with one of the frachises (FF, re-creation, etc) you've got a lot of bills to pay first before you start making any money from competing with the other pt fools. the new PT that started at my gym is THE biggest fantasy presser i have ever see, and that's saying something considering i go to a franchise gym. emsta, what's your gym program and diet like at the moment? and what are your goals? (personally) and to the girls, do weights

am i missing some e-sarcasm?? Glen W. eating strip = shite - i can see what they're TRYING to go for, but most places are just epic fail. lau's is great!! but from memory i thought it was fairly pricey? haven't eaten there for a little while though... yes, long grain is very nice too I had the best barramundi, no, more like the best fish dish of my life at Ezards. And also walked out with a bottle of their garlic and parmesan infused olive oil at the end too have not tried matteo's, must remember that. Had dinner at Bistro Vue last Friday. Food was excellent and not exorbitant either, $141 for 2 ppl. Although my French is somewhat lacking Have yet to try Vue Du Monde

"upgdrading" To A Smaller Turbo?
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
minus the EBC (which i've got a Blitz Spec-R) what $$ would i be looking at roughly for those parts plus a guess at labour? much of a price difference between the 2530 and RS? hahaha, yeah, i could just drop in a BM TT6 -

SS8_Gohan replied to STATUS's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
you're welcome Andrew is like a walking BMW encyclopedia, very into his work.. which is great, what you want i was down at Southern BM, and i don't know how we got talking about it..... oh wait, that's right... we were talking about tuning and what not as i noticed they didn't have a dyno, and he says he usually takes 35's around the corner to a normal rolling dyno. But he said he was getting a few BS claims from people when he tells them how much power he was getting out of these twin turbo engines, and that's when i mentioned, go see Trent, get it on the dynopack and then NO ONE can argue He was keen right from the get go Glad that he found the time to go see you. Now, is that sort of response obtainable with the NEO RB? -
"upgdrading" To A Smaller Turbo?
SS8_Gohan replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
would it be fair to say that either the 2530 or GT-RS will be slightly more lag than a stock turbo? by that i mean, any upgrade, will always sacrifice a bit of response to achieve more power? - full 3" from turbo back (hi-flow cat, but not the big one, BATMBL) - just jap return flow - blitz hi-flow panel filter - splitfires (mod?) - manual boost controller (original one) set to 11psi, but not holding hence the Blitz Spec-R waiting to go in - ngk coppers to .8 - Status remap - manual that's 187rwkw i think because boost drops from 11psi at 4500 to about 7-8 at redline. Trent said hold boost and we're in the 200's easy. Hence the Spec-R (which he reckons he can get turbo to respond a couple 100 rpm earlier with as well) but yeah, i guess i was thinking along the lines of full boost at 2000rpm or something like that so perhaps a bit of a dream, but always interested to know what options there are. gear ratios isn't something that can be changed without replacing stuff in the gearbox yeah? well... thinking more along crazy lines... how hard would it be to twin turbo the RB25 with some of the BM TD03's?? -
Hey guys'n'gals now i'm far from any sort of performance/modification expert (as some of you are probably thinking from the thread title) but i kinda had an idea that i wanted to run by some of you guys. At this stage, i don't THINK i want to have a car with huge power, i just want response, response and response. And after driving my dad's 335i every now and then, it's just insane how it feels like a N/A car and you would NEVER pick it was twin turbo. It's something i'd like to achieve with my 34. I don't know if it will ever be possible to get that sort of response (i know the bimmer has direct injection, and probably a lot of other fancy trickery) from the RB So my plan was to "upgrade" to a SMALLER turbo, but strengthen it (steel wheel?) so it can cope with more power than the stock turbo (200'ish rwkw), in an effort to get past the 200-210rwkw barrier for the standard turbo, but at the same time, become significantly more responsive. Something around 250rwkw i think would be nice, or maybe even 230rwkw. I think 230rwkw with the response of the BM twin turbo engine would be a shiteload of fun and be what i'm looking for. And maybe it isn't about getting much past 200rwkw, but just picking up a crap load of low/mid torque? Don't think the BM's run much more than 200rwkw... Because once i get my boost sorted (not holding to redline, got the spec-r waiting to go in) i will have maxed out the boost and power for the turbo. Decision then will be either happy with the power, or go turbo/fuel pump/injectors. anyways, flame suit is on... just thought i'd get some opinions as i know there are a heap of knowledgeable people specifically in this section. cheers, chinny

SS8_Gohan replied to STATUS's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
ahh Trent, i see you have spoken to Andrew at Southern BM crazy engines aren't they! My dad has a 335i, killer car... just gotta tempt him into some mods That's the response i want, i want the BM twin turbo engine response... not sure if that's obtainable with the humble NEO RB25 -
Who's Your Tuner And How Do Ya Rate Them?
SS8_Gohan replied to engo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i'll add Trent @ Status... only because it's not really a usual suspect on these boards. Racepace/RE Customs, Creatd, etc... for melb peeps are quite well known. But despite how insanely busy Trent seems to be, Status tuning doesn't seem to get a whole lot of notice. Ridiculously knowledgeable and is the ONLY person i've come across who actually cares about at cars paintwork when he's working on it!! Never have i ever seen any mechanic/tuner come remotely close to worrying about paint, etc. And for an amateur detailer, that is a massive bonus. i'm assuming the original poster is looking for Melb shops judging from sabaddin. Have heard lots of good things about sabaddin as well. -
hey bakes, could i ask a huge favour... just wondering if it would be possible to take a couple of pics UNDER your car? i need to see how the rear diffuser is attached, i need to see how it's done OEM styles have you measured the clearance of your front lip mate? i think mine is about 90mm... gotta be careful ey!

what is all this talk of Midnight Purple?? dallas, your car is blue. MP was never a colour for the 34 GTT, only the R, and that was only MPII and MPIII, not the original MP from the R33.
-
please go through the process of how you normally wash your car
-
no, as it's been mentioned in the thread a few times, you do not need to pull the headlights apart. just an aggressive MACHINE polish on the outside will be fine. And considering you live in Melb, you also have the option of FI (although booked out until Jan i believe) headlight restore GB just seems weird to me when 99.9% of the time it's just the outside.
-
hey dude, got a Spec-R i'm trying to decide where to mount, and that looks like a perfect spot. Was it much drama to fit the BC there?
-
stock turbo as well??

is this different to getting the dash covered in suede/alcantara? how much would flocking the dash cost?
-
let me guess, you were at a autobarn/supercrap/repco when you were told this?
-
so you had the car for a whole year, and hadn't put an alarm in and park it over night at a safeway in gladstone park? you have 3rd party cover, yet your rims alone would probably be worth the pay out in the event of theft? dude, you are incredibly lucky. Learn from this! 1) Alarm 2) Full comp enjoy the parma's

Damian is mobile detailing at the moment, but as above no new bookings at this stage. He'll just clear out all the ones that were already booked. If it's just a wash you're after basti, might not be an option. But if you're getting D to do a steam clean of the interior, etc... maybe a full on clean you might be able to book in. But you may as well book in a Stage 2 detail when the opportunity comes up.
