  1. gimps, sorry mate, forgot to reply to your post. i paid about $260-$280USD from ebay (second hand) i've found some good install guides, so i think i might give this a shot myself. do i have any other options besides soldering? could i just strip the wire back a bit and like wind/clamp it onto something? if any of you guys would be so gracious as to take a pic of where you put the wires through the firewall that would be awesome!! i got a motorkhana day on saturday, and i hope to fit/tune before then also, did you guys remove the whole centre console bit or is that not necessary. and i think i'll just double site tape for now, worry about cops later plan to use this guide http://www.gtautosound.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=54 another one with pics http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/blitz_dsbc/index.html any truth to any of this? " Also dont cut the boost lines to 'FIT'. Cut them so they are EVEN, and MAKE them fit by controlling overall length. - Make sure that the 'rubber' hosing is far away from the heat sheild as it will fracture and become damaged after a few months from the heat. - Dont use plastic zip ties for actuator ends if your doing a permanent installation. They become brittle and crack with almost no force after a while. You might take shortcuts on your own car, but in an article preaching the 'truth', you dont take shortcuts! ps. How do you replace a rubber gromet if the cablings already been threaded.. without cutting it (rendering it useless) or undoing all the cabling and feeding it through again?"
  2. thanks mate, just checked the site, man, motorbike helmets look so much cooler i live in sandy, meaning brighton is really close to me, i guess mentioning SAU at brighton isn't going to get the same effect? anyone at brighton i could speak to?
  3. how many people are cruising back sat night? or are most people staying the night?

  5. boys'n'girls, i need a helmet, for me noggin' for DECA and other such related activities where should i be heading to get one? I have heard it's good to check out the bike shops on Elizabeth st? how much am i looking at forking out for one that's going to meet the standards i need it to? Anyone sell Stig helmets?
  6. yes, yes.... all the pieces are falling into place... soon i will take the black r34 mantle.... yes Adz, i have no idea how you did it, i just can't see myself ever being able to sell the 34, but the alure of the 34R sure does pull strong so i'll be seeing you at Shep? my first deca
  7. is this something you reckon i could have a crack at myself? i'm sooo not DIY, but if it's just connecting some hoses, and using existing holes for the solenoid, i might be able to have a crack. i can't solder, but i can maybe get the basics done and then take it to my friend to finish off...
  8. am i correct in saying there's some soldering involved?? hey Howie, unfortunately i have a double din thing going on, so my options are ash tray, or the tray under the headlight adjust knob, or double sided tape. I just don't know how i'd cut a hole out the back of those flip trays? hmmm... wouldn't have thought the boys in blue would have been switched on enough to pick up a solenoid... so you guys just drilled some holes to attach the solenoid??
  9. hey guys, just got myself a blitz spec r boost controller, tough little buggers to track down for a good price... anyways, a mate and myself will be putting this in hopefully sunday, but neither of us has installed a boost controller before, so i'm keen to see what you guys have done with your installs. um'ing and ah'ing about the controller location, whether to slip it in the ash try, or the right hand tray under the headlight level adjust, or cut into the spot next to the headlight adjust. Or just double side tape it somewhere. the other thing is wondering where people have put their solenoids?? The manual says no further than 3 feet from the turbo for best performance. oh, and which ignition point do people most go off?? so yeah, if anyone has pics of their Spec R installs, that would be awesome! (cabin and engine bay) my tuner reckons he can get about 200-300rpm better boost response time with one of these, so i'm keen to get it tuned cheers, daniel
  10. was it just a one stage correction (after the prep)? ie, 1 polish product with the orange pad? you seem to like the Wurth sealant, can't say i'm familiar with the product. Is it a glaze? any chance of full sun shots?
  11. ahh mark, found your way to SAU, cheers for the post! (r34skyline from DA)
  12. yes and no, the 'inspirational' speeches have given him a huge mandate for his policy platform. He'll have the numbers in congress, and the favours owed to him by those who were able to ride his popularity into seats in the house of reps and senate. So in theory, he "should" be able to get a lot done, and be perceived as a 'great' leader as he will be executing the will of the people.
  13. jeebus fellas, McCain was a POW in Vietnam for 5 years, and it wasn't exactly a stay at the hilton. He came back and could barely walk (not so noticable now) but obviously you guys have picked up on his arms. Parting gifts from the VC. I closely followed the democratic primaries and very closely followed the presidential race. McCain is a hero, no doubt, and most likely would have been a decent president, but America and the world needed more than that. They needed someone like Obama to "inspire", to rally the country and also amend the alliances. Domestically McCain would probably have done ok, but the world is too small for that these days. America having elected someone who is so amazingly accepted worldwide can only be a huge step forward for everyone. He was the only candidate to actual say that America has lost it's standing in the world, it has lost respect. I think that was ballsy as you could be treading a fine line even mentioning the fact that America might not actually be looked on favourably by the rest of the world, might seem somewhat un-patriotic. But he's dead right. How much do we slag off America in so many contexts? For a President to actually have a perception of how the world views America from the outside-in can only be a good thing. If Obama can keep the fire burning, keep the energy high amongst the grassroots movement he created, I think we'll be all surprised about how quickly America can get back on track. It's an incredibly hopeful time, and I'm very interested to see how things play out over the next 4 years. observed, in only the way the Simpsons can... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aBaX9GPSaQ edit: how the fudge do you embed!
  14. oh right... keen buggers i'm all nervous now
  15. yeah, realised i missed your run, but the reply post was actual in response to Kaz she said she lives 2 mins away...
  16. ok, the 'take two' Spec-R arrived the other day, and it's getting installed tomorrow.. doing it after hours with a mate and his workshop, but neither of us has installed one before. just wondering if there is anything we should be mindful of? any tips/tricks? good places to put the solenoid and bc in the cabin? i think i read somewhere the solenoid shouldn't be more than 1 metre away from the turbo, i think anyways, any tips would be great cheers, daniel

  21. machine polish, with paint polish don't worry, your headlights aren't gone, they just need a MACHINE polish. Final Inspection might even be able to quote you just a headlight polish, althought i'd recommend getting a full detail anyway, Stage 2 includes headlight polishing i believe.
  22. double post FTL
  23. I forgot to get back to gareth (sorry mate) so i'm keen for a fire extinguisher, but if you're close to the shop, how will i get it from you?
