Sau-vic Motorsport Championship Announcement
SS8_Gohan replied to Scotsman's topic in Archived Events
can we just do the practice day or do you have to compete both days? -
ah yes, the current drain, that is something else i need to find. Will have a chat to you bout that next time i'm down at the workshop

don't think we did, just with the lid off. Trent then said he may have noticed one of the pipes sucking closed, so we ran again and i tried to watch it, didn't seem to be closing, but plan on doing the 3cm stainless steel insert mod all the same. He mentioned cutting some holes around the lid, and maybe meshing them up so it doesn't look too obvious.

got a R33 HKS catback on my R34 i thought there was very limited choice for 34 catbacks, when i was looking at least.

was at Status Tuning the other day, we did back to back dyno runs, both with hi-flow panel filter (Blitz) but one with stock airbox lid on, one off. 10rwkw difference. Don't want to go pod, so might "modify" the airbox lid

the main point of these, besides avoiding the hassle of jump starting, is actually pro-longing the batteries life. Batteries don't like to be drained/go flat, and some won't ever get back to full charge again just from normal driving. Hence, the trickle charger to keep them topped up and to prolong the life of the battery. Especially if your car has infrequent short trips, this in itself is hard on the battery. I've heard these type of chargers are the bee's knee's and i plan on getting one as well. I just got an Optima Yellow-top and i don't want to go destroying that battery by constantly draining it, @ $350 a pop. this thread should prob be moved to the maintenance section. I don't think a trickle charger classifies as 'Forced Induction Performance'

long grain has beautiful food. If i remember correctly, you can't book on certain days/times unless you have a big enough group. So keep that in mind. Yep, not cheap, but great dishes. (see duck red curry) The man knows his food! Impressive Chris, most impressive! Pacific House, very impressive. The quintessential 'The Age: Cheap Eats' All their roast meats are very tasty. Have not been to Samurai but have been to Shira Nui a few times, GREAT japanese food. One of the FEW japanese restaurants not run by friggen chinese!! Zipang in Hampton also does great Japanese. Cheap and cheerful. Run by Japanese.

Gingerboy's food is just stunning, not much of a surprise considering it's sorta the sister restaurant of Ezard (which i also highly recommend, but bring $) Gingerboy has 2 sittings, 6:30 - 8 or 6 and 8, something like that. IMO, there are NO good restaurants in the Glen Waverley "strip". As Shira Nui ISN'T on the strip, it is is therefore, good - The european food in the Glen is shite, the asian for the most part is 'choose your number' dish crap, the restaurants on the Rock Kung side are not anything to write home about either. Cheap and fair would be my rating. But 'The Glen' area as a whole has some truly shocking food considering the concentration of restaurants. I wanted to add Gingerboy and Long Grain, but they've already been mentioned so i'll add a Taiwanese place; Peko Peko, Sth Melbourne. Have some very tasty dishes, and quite cheap too.

if you had read the thread properly, you would have realised that some very knowledgeable people (with regards to oil) have posted in here, with some nice basic, simple rules to follow. As many have mentioned before, a good oil is one of the cheapest insurance policies you can have for your car, and the fact most of the cars in question are turbo, this is perhaps even more important. Furthermore, a local guy has also been linked on numerous occasions in this thread who sells the top oils at decent prices, will ship anywhere in Oz and makes it stupidly easily to gain access to oils not available off the shelf, and all you have to do is walk to your letter box to get it. I pay $11 per litre (.94litres) for Royal Purple 5w30. Hardly much of a difference to what you're paying for an inferior oil. No one is disputing your choice of 5w30, (I guarantee you there are countless mechanics/auto shops out there that would tell you it's too thin) just the fact that if you go to any of the franchise auto stores don't expect accurate/good advice. Case in point, i rang around for Castrol Transmax Z, and they asked what it was for and i told them it was for my power steering fluid. A couple places laughed, one place was concerned and advised against it. What do you think happened to my steering rack binding issues on a 33 degree day at Sandown after i put the Transmax Z in as power steering fluid? Solved my problems and worked flawlessly on a hot track day. How's their advice looking now for lubricants? We can't expect these places to be completely knowledgeable about all facets of motoring, that's unreasonable, so it's thanks to a few people in this thread who know what they're talking about, we have some good, solid information. That's why enthusiasts communities exist. What petrol do you run in your car bozodos?

andrew, were you over there?? thought i so the blue beast in one of the youtube vids that is such an impressive effort. I freakin GT2 with gentlemen Jim AND a super legerra, both succumbing to a street tyred GTR.... impressive, most impressive... and why the f*ck are some people still calling it a Skyline??? :headshot:

with a tune, is there much to be gained? or are we talking like 5rwkw
-
fitted a r33 HKS Super Dragger to fit 34 (catback), very similar, 33 is slightly longer. Any reputable exhaust should be able to cut out a section and weld a new one in to fit. A lot more choices when looking for 33 catback systems
-
was told by the tuner to get a Spec R so interested if anyone knows the answer to roy boy's question what are these going for new/second hand anyway?
-
hey fishy, where'd you get the profec from and $$? good luck with the install!!

Poll For R34 Owners That Have Modded Their Cars
SS8_Gohan replied to 666DAN's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
digging this up Dan just had my car remapped mods full 3" turbo back exhaust (BATMBL stainless split front/dump pipe, hi-flo cat (not the biggest one), HKS Super dragger catback) Turbotech boost controller set at 12psi FMIC (return flow one, from Just Jap) Splitfire coilpacks (not really a mod i guess) Blitz hi-flow panel filter that's it i think, for the engine anyway Boost drops at 4250rpm, to a low of 8.6psi i believe. Despite this, car made 180rwkw, and 190rwkw with the airbox cover removed , so if i can sort out the boost drop issues, tuner reckons the standard 200rwkw+ with these mods should be easy. Just want something in the 200's damn it!! will put up dyno sheets so i have lost around 3.5-4psi, with a the bc "set" at 12psi -
I found a good cheap boost controller for $22!!!
SS8_Gohan replied to CEF11E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
was i just imagining things, or did these guys come up with an electronic boost controller as well?? -

gareth is on the money. Go to autobarn, supercrap, etc and ask them what base group oil castrol edge is derived from? >insert blank face< - not sure we can get a true synthetic Castrol here (tws?) - your mates are right about Motul, they do actually make full synthetic oils bozodos - have fun with your group III oil mate

hahaha, it will be somewhere
