  1. Yeah with AFM unplugged it will start and idle fine but wont rev properly. Have you changed the fuel pump at any stage? Have you checked for error codes on the ecu?
  2. So when your pfc was tuned did you change the setting on the cam gear or end up and 0 again?
  3. I didn't do it. I think it was Bass Junky who did. They tried many different settings but none were worth it.
  4. T04GTR is selling one. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...?showuser=19586 send him a pm.
  5. They don't work as well as with previous models. all you can do is change the shape of the power curve; ie, what you gain in the mids you lose up high. It's been tried and found not to be worth it.
  6. Well I take some of that back. The poncams appear to be 256 and 8.5 and the procams are 256 and 8.5 or 260 and 8.8 or 270 and 8.8. So what cams do you actually have?
  7. Ok I've designed a new catch can for myself. I made up a full size model and test fitted it. Seems to fit alright. Do you think it will work? My current one doesn't catch any vapours, only liquids from track day poor oil control. (I built my engine before the oil control thread ) Catch_can.pdf
  8. This is the first post of yours I've ever questioned. You don't have to rev it any harder to get more power out of it just because or in spite of having cams. They should increase your power or at the very least give you the same power at less boost at the same revs. Strangely on the RB20 Tomei recommend you change springs for the type b poncams (what cohen has) but not for the type a poncams which I find bizarre because they have the same lift but different duration. I would have thought that the longer duration would give a slower ramp rate at the same lift and therefore less stress on the springs. I say whack em in and have fun.
  9. That sux man. I got pulled over last night. They were very interested in my semislicks and I had two of them questioning me about various things in the car. Just as one of them gestured to the bonnet and I could tell he was waiting for the other one to finish what he was saying I went on the offensive. I started lecturing them on tyres, how the different compounds and tread patterns worked, how cars with stock power can get sub 1:50 around Eastern Creek with great tyres and suspension mods. They ended up basically shooing me away while I was still talking at them out the window.
  10. Sounds good. I guess we should start organising accomodation now. Minimum 4 runs, max 100 entries on day one, minimum 3 runs, max 80 entries on day 2. I certainly hope we get more than 3 runs in one day. That would suck arse to go all that way for 7 runs over 2 days.
  11. I'm older than you.
  12. I don't think you need one until you have an aftermarket turbo and I think the cheap ones are crap. If you are in Sydney and you really want a cheap one, I am throwing mine away shortly when my new is made because I think it would be unethical of me to sell it to someone.
  13. Lots of power is nice. Since you did it yourself would you mind posting up some raw data? I'm particularly interested in how much advance you are running across the rev range. What is base timing set to? What rpm are you seeing full boost? 1 bar? Thanks.
  14. Have a look around the forum. Particularly the stickys in the various sections. You will learn a lot. Basically 98% of them are wound back. A 1989 GTR with 40,000 less k's than my 1999 GTT? I don't think so. You buy on a condition based appraisal. That's why with imports it's worth having them checked out by a workshop that does work on these types of cars regularly. If it costs you $1000 in workshop inspections before you find one and then you end up NOT rebuilding the engine, you have saved yourself at least $6000.
  15. Maybe it's just there so that when grease monkeys are working on the car they don't accidentally shove something in there and f**k it.
  16. Since you have to up the timing anyway - I presume by using the ignition correction on the pfc - then can't you increase the injectors by some amount - also in the correction bit - to lower the AFR and thus make the tune happy again? You would have to remember to do it every time you turned the car on though.
  17. I think def a step up from SAFC but some people don't like them. Hard to get a good tune done. I think it may be because they can't be tuned in real time. Lot's of people recommend them but when I rang them looking for a tuner they said something funny that put me off. It was only one thing but it made me not trust them. TM Autosports on the Central Coast do them to and they seem alright.
  18. Walbro are crap. Highflow turbo is not big enough for RB30. Don't highflow the injectors. Get some decent ones, 550-700cc.
  19. I think Unigroup do these.
  20. How heavy are they?
  21. This subject has been covered so many times. Sydneykid once laid out all the calculations of the speed of the air as it goes through you piping and the air is in the hot pipe for such a tiny amount of time that it doesn't have time to take on any of the heat. For some reason I don't understand the length of the runners has an effect on torque, particularly, the longer the better for low down torque and I suppose the shorter the better up high. Can anyone confirm this? There are engines, I think some ford 6's, that have variable length runners for this reason.
  22. I have. Doesn't mean that this is relevant here though. Sorry to have introduced a possble furphy to the thread.
  23. So there's only 4 of you coming up now?
  24. I just filled mine up. Got a big bottle of Redline Lightweight Shockproof and it took all but about 150-200ml. So I think that's about 3.7L cos the bottle is 3.9xxx L (American sizes).
