They don't turn these people over to the authorities, they move them around to different areas and sometimes countries to shield them from the truth. It's just a little light hearted whinging and bandwagoning mate. Don't worry too much about it. I know I'm not.

  5. Last count I heard was $76 million it was costing us. I'd rather they spent it on schools or hospitals. The Olympics brought far more money into the country - but probably still wasn't worth it either.
  6. Herman at Envy imports has just bought a new AWD Dyno Dynamics dyno. big investment for them, and it's great for us as so many of our cars are AWD (all the GTS4s, stageas, GTRs). Anyway, he wants to kick it off with a dyno day and asked if we'd be interested in having one with SAU. He will give us a special SAU financial member price for the day. Basically the outline is this: Dyno Day, Satuday 16th of August, held at the Envy Imports dyno room, rear of 3 Powells Rd Brookvale (northern beaches, near manly). Everyone is welcome, any kind of car. Entry costs $50 and SAU NSW club members pay only $40 (if you sign up as a SAU NSW Club member on the day you pay the discounted price also) There will be a sausage sizzle and drinks etc available. You get 3 runs. 1 warm up and check that everything is ok, then 2 power runs. You get a printout with your power and AFR on it. They will also give a free analysis of the graph (too lean? too rich? poor boost control? detonation? etc, great for people who have not really read a dyno graph before). And, if you book your car in on the day for further tuning work or whatever Herman will give some kind of discount. Also, an R35 GTR will be there. The day kicks off at 9am with the first cars on the dyno around 9:30. You will need to turn up, pay and register then you will be called in the order you arrived. Please note this one important detail. When attending these types of events you are representing our club, and car enthusiasts in general. There is no need to chuck a skid, or accelerate as hard as you can to prove how awesome you are. We already know you're awesome. I mean you don't see michael schumacher after a Grand Prix go into the car park, hop in his ferarri and chuck a massive burnout now do you? Only wankers with something to prove engage in this kind of behaviour at these events, don't put yourself in that category. Should you feel the need to act like a dick you will be laughed out of the forum, banned from the club and most likely reported to the police. There will be trophies awarded for highest outright power, top under 2L, top under 2.6L, top outright, top NA. (might add top 4wd and top Rwd too since it's a 4wd dyno).

  14. Very reguarly someone starts a thread asking something like this. Forum rules state that nothing negative can be said about any workshops or tuners which leaves people thinking where's my protection from the shonkies? I want people's genuine opinions. The trouble is that if you don't know the people, you don't know which is a real unbiased opinion and which is not. I posted this in a thread recently: Pretty much every workshop has it's share of bandwagoners just like they have their share of haters. It's frustrating for us old timers because of how the forum rules work and also how people work. I wish we could relax the rules a little and I personally think by law we could, however the problem ultimately is that people can't be trusted to do and say the right thing. People always go overboard and say more than they know. Here's a few tips on how to get the most out of a forum. 1. Spend more time reading than posting. 2. Identify regulars who appear to be knowledgeable. 3. Pay attention when regulars disagree with each other. They will usually have points of agreement in the argument which are worth noting. 4. Search old threads. In relation to finding a workshop, the NSW section gets a thread on this every 2-3 weeks it seems. 5. Research the job you want done so you understand what workshops are telling you. 6. Ring some workshops and see what kind of a feeling you get from them. 7. Pm a few people you have identified on the forums as trustworthy and knowledgeable and ask them nicely about the job and the workshops you are considering. Hopefully one or two of them will reply. 8. Apply a discount to the opinion of anyone who is compromised or affiliated. The level of discount will vary according to how you rate their trustworthiness. 9. Lastly, be aware that different workshops will suit different people. The workshops themselves have a sort of corporate personality, generally formed mostly by the owner. You need one that fits what you want from a workshop. All threads asking for advice on which workshop to go to will be locked and the thread starter pointed to this thread. Good luck with your modifications, just remember that hard research will increase this "luck". Cheers.

  17. Item: 18" rims with tyres. Age: Dunno Condition: Pretty average. They look fine from a distance but there's a fair bit of light gutter rash on a couple of them. Price: $800 To Fit: R34 GTT R33 GTST Location: Sydney Contact: Pm please. Comments: Tyres on the front are almost new Federal 595S (225/35/18) worth around $500 the pair which I've found quite grippy for a cheaper tyre. The rears have some Falkan Ziex things (265/35/18) and are still legal but not too much tread left.

  22. I'd say an SAU sticker should be an advantage. We're a comparatively sensible bunch. We probably have an average age 3-4 years older than that of NS which helps. We're highly educated and good looking too.
