I think you could move the trannie fluid cooler to the drivers side inner guard, like the opposite of the standard intercooler then you would have no issues with any fmic that is made for a GTT. Also you may be able to modify the mounting bracket to move the fluid cooler closer to the radiator.
Emanage should be the way to go although I am still experimenting with a modified standard ECU. I currently have 189 rwkw with stock cooler, stock turbo, panel filter, 0.8 bar boost and a good exhaust.
I have heard of a few people getting no extra power from a fmic with R34's unlike R33's and R32's which seem to pick up a bit automatically.
