The 34 has 20 or 30 nm less torque but the same kw at the engine with an auto. Also a note to what skylinegeoff has said. When I drive my r34 auto when it's cold my changes are so slippy. You basically want to keep the revs under 3500 and away from any real power until the tranny is warmed up. Once warmed up though, the changes are never harsh but they do get crisper. I always use the tiptronic buttons on the steering wheel to change gears and the only thing I can add from this respect is that at full throttle and big revs I get a burble between 1st and 2nd gear but at full throttle and lower revs (say less than 5000) there is no burble it just slips smoothly into 2nd. I still have a few things to modify on mine before I get to the computer but I watch this space with interest and eventually I'll get there. Certainly the workshop I asked for a quote did not seem in the least perturbed by my car being an auto. This seems to be an issue on the forum which hasn't got any good quality answers.

On the way back from Show and Shine a car drove over a bit of tyre from a truck and flicked it onto my bonnet. Now there is a dirty big black mark from the nose to the wipers which sux. Does anyone know the best way to get rid of this? ie solvent of some kind car polish pencil eraser arse juice.

Ordinary mechanics cost 50-65 an hour so it makes sense that experts would charge a fair bit more. Also I happen to know that mechanics are in very short supply at the moment so it would make sense that good ones, and here is my assumption; that UAS has good mechanics, would be able to command a much higher rate of pay. I guess if a workshop is involved in racing of whatever sort then that would be expensive and some people might say that the customers are subsidising the sport but you could also say that when they race they learn things which may come in handy with their customers cars.

Where are you getting these from SK? I was thinking of getting a CES Racing split dump because they are split for quite a way. Was even thinking of getting it sugar coated.

Umm anybody else have this problem? I downloaded the whole thing (the high res one) and when I go to play it it requests and downloads the codec then plays the sound but not the video. If I do it again it does the download bit again. What is the codec so I can manually install it?

Malcolm, you're a perfectionist and you know it. I'm sure a lot has been learned and I can see how it might have seemed a little like a closed club even though I'm sure that was never anybody's intention. an RB26 has the same size bore and a longer stroke and revs higher than an RB25 so... Well I know it probably doesn't mean much cos I don't know what the R33's rev like but at 7000rpm mine absolutely sings. Haven't tried taking it higher though.

Dunno if I should post this here but a guy told me that he pulled the water pump off his ride on lawn mower and turned it into a turbo. Said lawnmower can now do wheel stands in 4th gear at 120 km/h! left the blades on too cos he still uses it to cut the grass.

Just adding my thanks to everyone who put the effort in, it was really good to see. I left Wagga at 4:30 in the morning and hammered it up there but as hard as that was, it wasn't a patch on what some of you guys did. Thanks HEAPS!
